    Excellent Tutorial NK. I'm really intrigued by Armor Paint, I use it sometimes, but not on any serious projects yet.

    ArmorPaint is free, as long as you know how to build it from the source code which is quite daunting for a guy who doesn't have a coding background.

      @PerFeldvoss Před 4 lety +1

      It is not really easy to get this installed, you need some extra tools also - perhaps @askNK can make a tutorial? (My real problem was with VisualStudio, you need to change the VS project setting to match those that you have installed, as the project delivered is probaly not the same as the one that you have installed. However the messages you get leads you to think that you need to install the same 'build tool'(??) version as it is in the ArmorPaint project, that is 'not' nessesary.. you can simply change the project to match what you got installed on your computer. AromrPaint was developed on the pro version ov visual studio, thus the project files probably refers to other "components" than those we have when we run the free version of visual studio.
      After got this running i was not really up to testing it, but it looks very interesting - especially the part where you can paint directly on UE4 assets

      @@PerFeldvoss hey did it runs now

    • @PerFeldvoss
      @PerFeldvoss Před 4 lety +2

      @@Mrpaul20 Yes it is running - you need to follow the instructions - say in this video czcams.com/video/HJCYsOT5v64/video.html - this is a bit more coplicated that just running a program or using a plugin. You need to install two tools, node.gs and git (for git hub, where the souce is placed) I did have some difficulty doing that, since I did not realize that the node tool was supposed to do for you... however I already had git installed (this is not trivial either).
      Once you get to the Visual studio you can build the program and you can run it from within VS. I do not know if you can actually rin the program without VS. However as described, the project configuration delivered will PROBABLY not match what you got installed. So you need to change the project settings... I just checked and I catually can't remember/find what parameters was wrong. I think you will see what it is about when you try to build....
      I will get back when I have checked if this works with UE4. ;-)
      The plugin for UE can be found here: github.com/armory3d/armorpaint_unreal but it is not working for UE4.24... I do not know what version it was built for. I even think I reported that to the developers... I can not remember how I did that though! I will try to contact them again... I would love the option to paint on directly in UE4, but I wonder how the textures/materials will be handled!

    • @TroublingMink59
      @TroublingMink59 Před 4 lety +9

      Doubtful. It may be eventually considered useful, but substance painter and quixel mixer are tools with huge amounts of funding, large dedicated teams, and are in very active and rapid development. Armorpaint still isn't even remotely competitive with the earliest versions of either of those programs.

    This program is a great find. I work in the cottage industry of Poser / DAZ Studio. I imported in the L'Homme obj (a human figure) and there were quite a few, what looked like black holes but according to the team that made the figure they are saying his mesh is "rough" so in some programs I would see what looks like inverted poly's but they are not. It was very disconcerting to me so wondering if you know if there is a smoothing option for imported obj's or not? Thank you for your video's, very helpful!

      Never subscribe any software owned by Adobe. They will hold your credit card as hostage so they keep charging you without giving a single f*ck.
      So I highly recommend you to stay with Blender and/or try out that ArmorPaint and Quixel Mixer (Beta version which is free). For me, I've downloaded a "cracked" Substance Painter because I like using it without giving my money to a rich and greedy company.
