That timelapse of the mantis molting is jaw-dropping. You have a gift for arthropod photography.

My 7 year old son (who I honestly think will be an entomologist when he grows up) says the Marauder ant colony should be called the ‘Terra-Raiders’! Watching this show every weekend together is definitely a big highlight for us. We love this Vivarium! Keep it up!
Great name!
I 2nd that would be a great name
Very good name
Watching this with your own kid has got to be pretty awesome.
aww thats so sweet and its a good name
Amazing to see Pandora thriving post Dark Horde. I was happy to see the crickets thriving because seeing the babies being carried off had me screaming. Oh and finally we get the arachnid babies! @@AntsCanadaIs it too late for the suggestion for Mauraders name? If not, then here is the name suggestions
"The Maurader Spartans" (If they are agressive)
"The Maurader Republic" (Star Wars reference maybe)
I left you years ago. The show was about roaches, and you made a comment along the lines of, ‘even if you don’t think roaches live in your house, they come out at night to nibble on your toothbrush.’ I was horrified, as I have a major roach phobia. I could not watch your channel after that, as I no longer felt safe in my home, and couldn’t risk that happening again.
It’s been a few years. My toothbrush lives in a bug-proof glass and mesh container, and this video came across my feed. I’ve missed you so much, and I’m so happy to have you back in my life.

„Mighty Marauders“, is how my 6 year old wants to call the marauder colony. She was never a fan of the Black Hoarde.:) We watch this like a soap opera, just with real cool characters. 😊 Thank you for this beautiful peak into nature.
Vampire Crabs should be a new cast in Pandora. They would make it more colorful and interesting in the biodiversity in the growing project.
Liking so this gets seen
Chameleons would be a great addition also
Yeah some nice colorful purple and red vampires be awesome to see
And maybe add a hermit crab
Aliens took species from all kinds of different planets and put them all on one planet "Earth" and we are literally just a reality TV show to them.
I think i speak for many people when i say that as a child, I was mesmerized by animal planet and never thought id be captivated by nature in that way again being an adult. But every episode of this vivarium series has brought me right back to something i thought was gone. What a gift! Thank you!

I agree too
Started watching this a few episodes ago and it’s like my daily soap opera. I was drinking wine while watching this last night and was talking to the tv, cheering on certain bugs while damning others. So far, my favorite is the praying mantis. I smile so big seeing her grow. I’m def a fan and I’m only a few episodes in. Once I finish the GAIA playlist, I’m gonna look into the rest. This is so great. Probably the best thing I’ve found on CZcams. Thank you for being patient with the creatures and having appreciation for how nature needs the creepy crawlers even tho they’re not the most liked creatures. Really love what you got going on. Happy I found you !!!
Oh , and you should have seen my husband when he saw the huntsman spider 🤣 I had this on the big screen and he was like “BABE! WHY DO YOU WATCH THIS STUFF?!? TURN IT OFF!” 😂

The first age of Pantdora is over - The age of the Black horde has passed and a new age has started. The second age; the age of the arachnids.

I just realized today that the reason why I enjoy this series so much is that it reminds me of the Attenborough Planet Earth series. You are seriously on that level and I'd imagine you could do a full cinema feature some day.
A request I'd like to make is a timelapse of the full week so we can see the plants and animals "breathe". I'm envisioning that the plants would pulse, search and flourish beautifully with an extended recording.
100 percent I commented the same his narration is spot on and the music and everything it's a beautiful channel
I was about to post the same thing. It is so well filmed and narrated. It is epic and awe inspiring !
I tend to find the narration a _bit_ too repetetive on occasion and usually over-dramatized somewhat to a lot. But thats just my taste.
I like the british understatement in nature observation, as Attenborough has been named.
The loving observation is palpable.
And we can feel the hundreds of hours we only get served in condensed form. Love the content.
Sorry but this guy has nothing on Attenborough. This guys voice can get a little annoying and the conversation isn't as interesting.
Attenborough has a nicer a voice and a more informative explanation
@@Worthy1234 your trying to put him on an Attenborough stage nxt to him were saying he's getting just as good nothing wrong with your opinion but strongly disagree this man and his channel is on its way right up
I don't know how you're able to film all of these events so well, keep on top of this beautiful vivarium and make sure you capture the cool stuff. Much respect. Your enthusiasm and awe at the natural world is really infectious.
Thank you so much!
I love the fantastical elements you add to this story with narration but also just pop up on their own. An alien empire banished to another dimension, a creepy-mother-spider-goddess, intelligent plants and a mysterious caretaker being(you.) Its so cool and truly incredible what Pantdora has become and its still developing.

I know it was hard for you to remove the black crazy ants and intervene. But I’m glad you decided to do it and that it’s greatly benefited Pandora. You’re right, it’s not the black crazy ants’ fault for being invasive, it’s humanity’s fault for spreading them around world to places they don’t belong. But that also means it’s our responsibility to fix our mistakes by removing them from the local environments. And it doesn’t always have to mean killing them, for example I’m glad you found a school to take the colony off your hands for education. Great work AC, Ant Love Forever! 🐜❤️

Glad to see a leviathans cameo while catching up on everything
I don't know if I'm alone on this.... BUT can we get a "How I tend to Pandora!" Video where you show all the little things like food adds and cleaning in full to know how much you do to keep such an amazing project going?
He only does water changes its an ecosystem so he tries to make it as low maintenance as possible, which means they hunt for they're food and no cleans.
I don't think he adds any food, maybe sometimes a fruit for a timelapse video. But the cleaning would definitely be interesting!
I actually wouldn't mind seeing a shorter format one-off on tank care. I do know AC has mentioned cleaning the glass regularly for good visibility earlier in this series.
He has already done videos detailing these things. Iirc in episode 3, he details what he calls ecosystem events in which he does things like add a piece of fruit or a little leaf litter . These events are the only form of feeding he does. As for cleaning and other maintenance, in one episode, he outlined how he cleans the glass and in the episode he added the water creatures he outlined what water maintenance he would be doing, which basically amounts to infrequent water changes and nothing else. This being an ecosystem, the creatures in pantdora take care of themselves as they would in nature.
This is probably the best vivarium you ever built
Bow. Thank you! 🙏🐜🌿❤️

This show caused me to build a small terrarium with the kids. A simple glass cookie jar turned into a daily big watch with the kids! The cookie jar was FULL of life - spiders, earthworms, flies, fungi, centipedes and more. Feeding time (cucumbers, dead bugs, fruit) was our favorite and created memories with the kids. It was also very therapeutic to just sit and try to find life that you didn’t know was there. (Side note - I added a few snails and they mated like crazy and were everywhereeeeee). Thanks again for the awesome channel!!!!!

What a lovely update! The evolution of Pantdora's ecosystem is a huge joy to watch. We spend so much time in the life sciences looking through a macro lens at a whole ocean, forest, jungle, mountain range and its interconnected food web from a distance. But there is so much to also be learned through a far smaller lens. It's at the level you're operating that many discoveries can be made. And I love seeing that!
“Men only want one thing…and it’s beautiful.”
I love the idea of having this monstrous sized tank, such a great sight to see
I love this series I hope it never stops!

I've been trying to tell people that CZcams is basically like the new cable TV and all the best and brightest young stars are there making content where back in the day they'd be on television. This guy's videos are of similar caliber to stuff you'd find on Discovery Channel and whatnot.
@@threezysworld8089 I agree, I find myself watching more YT than I do Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+ etc
The praying mantis getting her wings was amazing. I thought they were born with them until this video. Amazing. I loved how the carpenter ants moves the queen. The 2 in the back were looking side to side and behind for predators like the ant secret service. Never known any insects to be interesting before. Love this channel
its actually something I also only found out relatively recently, when some species of flying arthropods get their wings, it usually means they reached adulthood and won't molt anymore.
I also like how the queen ant is always so majestic next to the others, not just in size, it's something inexplicable.
A crazy story,
At a music festival here in Australia at some time of the night, I was sitting on a camper chair and felt something crawling up my leg,
I looked down and seen a cicada nymph crawling up my leg, it's little piercing legs bit by bit making its way up my leg like a tree stump. It "chose" me as it tree to transform into a cicada. I sat there for HOURS watching it come out and slowly grow Into a cicada on my freaking leg. Wtf.
Everyone around new about it and would come visit to see its progress, bring me drinks etc. It was an incredibly awesome experience to have nature take its course on my leg haha.
Watching the praying mantas unfold like that reminded me of that time.
Man, I love nature. I have had so many epic moments like this.
Wow! That's an incredible story and experience!
A good name for the Marauder ant colony could be the Bright Horde, since they survived the destruction of the Dark Horde and are able to thrive once again.
I love how genuinely excited AC sounds when he talked about the Green Reaper's new wings.
Brethren, we must protect him at all costs 😭😭

i’d cry
My cousin had a jumping spider and it has babies and he found baby spiders in his room for the next like month😂
@@oggTemp lol jumping spiders are cute, like 8 legged puppies. Why you crying?
@@asylumental seeeeeeerious arachnophobia which is so stupid and irrational because i’m in the UK and there’s no harmful ones here
@@oggTemp I had arachbophobia too, and still do for most spiders... but have learned to tolerate them. Jumping spiders however are different... you'd have to give one a chance and spend some time with it to understand what I mean.
I started with other insects and then started watching tarantula channels like the dark den.. then one time they uploaded one with a jumping spider and I could see how cute it was and how curious and intelligent it was. So then I caught a jumping spider that was in my room and decided to keep it, and yeah they're just different..
They have 2 focal eyes and have very good vision, but the 2 big eyes gives them a more mammalian look to them which makes it naturally easier for us to connect with them and find them cute.
Beyond that though, their behavior is cute because of how intelligent they are. They are actually the most intelligent of any invert with a species in southeast Asia being group studied to have a problem solving rate of 80% success after only 1 failure. Some have said they can even teach them tricks like shake a paw and lay down, which I believe is probably more of a coincidental response then an actual learned thing.. but still they are highly intelligent.
If you see one just interact with it, often times you will see them lifting their bodies to look around and they'll be looking right at you looking at them..
Name suggestions for Marauders: The Shining Squad, The Polished Platoon, The Sisters of Shine (oh and the latest Carpenters could possibly be The Golden Girls) I couldn't get over how shiny and healthy the Marauders looked. Another wonderful episode, thank you. I have a feeling that the next may involved a lot of death. Thank you for the Fire Ant update.
Ain't no way you recognized a cricket bruh 😂
Love the series btw

Your observations of the vines are spot on. Somehow they do see. I have one that has been trying to reach a tree that is 4 feet away but it reaches straight for it, no other direction in that section of it. I fear it will kill the tree so i make sure it doesn't.

i don't see how any one could be happy for him killing the black crazy ants. i mean ya they are invasive but the whole point of the project was to let nature take it course as thats what would happen in the wild
Those invacive black crazy ants were imported by accident. Same goes for fire ants. On the other hand; I was also 26:13 wondering how the leftover black crazy ant base would have played out if it wasn’t vacumed as they had already been weakened.
they weren't killed but transported away. Please pay attention@@redschafer7804
Your videos are gold. When I was a child in the 1980s, all I had were encyclopedias and eventually subscriptions to Aquarium Fish and Reptiles magazines to feed my interest in biology. I also had aquariums and, thanks to a goldfish that outgrew its tank, my parents let me put a small pond in our townhouse backyard-the frogs and dragonflies that came on their own and the plants all around and inside the pond ended up dominating my interests. Your videos would have been such a benefit to my self-education. And the wonder that you bring to the narration and the narratives you selectively present bring me back to that time in my life.
I'd never install something like this in my home-not with roaches and ants!!-but it's a gorgeous and interesting slice of curated nature. Thanks for sharing it with the world.
I wish more people had this kind of reverence for nature. Like the narrator, I find all of this biodiversity both fascinating and beautiful. I'm so glad that all of these lifeforms have a good home.
Acrobat Ants being the Batimps of the Vivarium is my new head canon.
I introduced my 5 year old niece and nephew to the Pantdora series this weekend while babysitting. They whined because they wanted to watch cartoons, but it only took 2 minutes for them to become enthralled with the Pantdora ecosystem. I had to fast-forward through a few scenes though. It's not my job to teach them what "mating" is. 😂
My nephew an i have been watching bassfishingproductions an its a great channel! Ill have to put this on the next time i hangout with my nephew!

You do such a professional job with your videos, from the lighting, music and camera work all the way to your fantastic scripts. There are people at the big name satellite channels who could learn a thing or five from watching your incredible work! I am also aware that it is clearly, very much a team effort, so kudos to the team members that we don't see or hear, they deserve a great deal of praise too. I am so damn glad I found this channel nearly 4 years ago, it has been the highlight of my week since then! Ant love forever Mikey, Team and Friends!❤❤❤
For me the mealybugs make me scream as a plant nerd.
❤❤❤ Very well said! I agree completely! Thank you 😊

seeing the mantis get her wings was beautiful :')
Im 23 and from the U.S. always looking forward to seeing these every weekend. Great videos brother keep it up!
Awesome! Thank you!
You are one of 2 creators who got me hooked creating microecosistems and microscaping. All my love from Poland and Bulgaria.
Who is the other creator?
@@RixFixIt SerpaDesign. He focuses mainly on miniscaping. A lot of moss is involved. He does also bigger projects. But the first one, and I just reminded myself of him and how big of an impact he had on me at the beginning, was Green Machine, but this one is less of a yt creator and more tutorialist. His name is John but you will figure it out from his videos :). Non of them create stories and characters like AntCanada, though. I checked a lot of other creators - typing vivarium how to in yt uncovers hundreds of creators from all of the globe - but did not find anyone who matches AntCanada with his personification of nature.
This is the most beautiful project you’ve endeavoured so far, I’m as addicted to this series as I was when I first discovered planet earth by David Attenborough. The way you educate us viewers while showing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitats is absolutely amazing. I hate to think of this series ever coming to an end but am so thankful you brought us along for the journey so far. I have so much appreciation for the time and effort you spend on these tiny life forms and I’m sure everyone watching does as well
Thanks for watching!🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
A cool name for the new carpenter ant colony would be " The Golden Horde".
Literally cannot wait to see what happens when you release the huntsmen! Lets go era of arachnida!!
Thanks for watching!
I can't get enough of Pantdora. I don't think I'll ever get bored of Pantdora, truly a highlight and something to look forward to every week for me. Now for my contribution to the brainstorm of naming ideas for the marauders... how about... The GiANTS !!!! ( :
Now that the marauders are so happy they could be the Merry Marauders!
14:45 is some kind of Gymnopilus species, I would say Gymnopilus luteofolius. If you want a better chance of good IDs on mushrooms like that which you find in Pandora, I would recommend picking them on their first recorded instance after documenting them in their original position and allowing us to see the full array of features which they have, as many may be required for ID in some cases. It is also good to attempt to bruise or cut the fungi in order to record the reaction which may occur in the flesh (in the form of a color change); a similar test can also be done by applying potassium hydroxide to fungi, although isn't necessarily required for most species you'll encounter, although it is helpful in trickier cases. Recording the smell of the fungi, if any, before and after the flesh is crushed can also help with ID, as well as tasting the fungi (it is completely safe to taste fungi, even poisonous ones as long as you thoroughly spit all of the flesh out after tasting). For some fungi, however, things such as microscopy or even DNA analysis may be required (the latter in the case of undescribed species which isn't rather uncommon for fungi).
plants are amazing, set up a timelapse and you will prob see the plants swinging around a bit "searching" for something to cling on to
Suggestion! Try putting Flower pot snakes (Indotyphlops braminus) or Common worm snakes (Calamaria gervaisii) for population control of other critters. They mainly eat insects and worms and they grow less than a foot in length. Both species are local in the Philippines and could be collected outdoors.
I love "The trailblazers" name for the marauders.
I love this series. Ty for all, from Spain! 😊
I learned in a botany class that vines or plants with vine like roots just swing the vine around very slowly until they can grasp onto something. Also all plants lean towards sunlight and release pheromones when harmed. That’s why there’s a smell when you cut grass.
I think we should call the carpenter ant colony the Honey Striders! It seems fitting for that pretty amber color of theirs.
1200 gallon isn’t even that big but you make this place look absolutely enormous. quite a cinematic skill
Thanks!
YES I LOVE DWARF ANTS, THEY ARE MY FAVORITE!!!
Amazing epusode! Catch the form change & wing growth of her majesty the reaper was incredible viewing!
THE GREEN REAPER IS BEAUTIFUL. 💚💚💚💚💚💚
The names, the stories, the photography and not least, your enthusiasm makes for excellent, enthralling entertainment!
