- The War of Pantdora continues after unleashing a spider apocalypse. My giant cloud rainforest vivarium has evolved into an utter dream tank, full of interdependent flora and fauna. However, the time had come to finally add a swarm of huntsmen spiders, to would become important predators controlling populations of prey creatures within the ecosystem. But after adding in the arachnids, a war of ant powers was once again brewing, and I could do nothing also but watch the biological drama play out. Google Yellowstone Wolf Release. Apex predators are critical to an ecosystem's long-term health. Like he said, there wasn't anyone that could prey on the cockroaches yet, and they would have done quite a number on the vivarium given time.

I leave for maybe a year and I come back to this man playing god with an entire rainforest in his apartment, mad props, and also very interesting story telling, it’s so weird being invested in ants and crickets, but he’s good at it

i find it fascinating that so many different insects made their way into the terrarium via plants. makes me think of all the wonders of life happening right below our noses.
I got hooked on this video way more than I expected and to be honest I think its because the way you talk sounds like it has so much joy in it. It sounds like you just love this Vivarium and it feels contagious because now I feel like I love the Vivarium hahaha this was such a great video

If you ever need help getting more used to arachnids and insects, I'd recommend looking into some facts about creatures like whip scorpions/spiders and vinegaroons. They're freaky looking arachnids, but they're actually incredibly harmless, timid, and caring creatures that are known to cuddle with their children in times of distress, and they're fairly easy to take care of. There's also jumping spiders, which are practically the house cats of arachnids.

I find myself gasping, laughing, grossed out, cheering for the Gray Reaper and the baby huntsman spiders catching their first meals. It's a wild ride, and I absolutely love every second of it!

Huntsman spiders are actually pretty awesome. I used to live under my parent's house as a teenager which was basically open to the backyard 24/7 and huntsman spiders would come and go as they pleased. There were a few creepy moments - like the time I had one the size of my hand crawl across my belly but other than that, they're pretty helpful. They will actively keep more poisonous spiders away from you.

This vivarium is one hell of a project and this video likewise with the editing and production.
A great job all round.
Some of the close-up shots just of the landscape especially is something rarely seen even in documentaries, they focus so much on their subject that often the ebb and flow of the environment in which they live is often overlooked or glossed-over due to the more broad aspects of a "wider audience" show.
also, that ending made me chuckle, a nicely done bait n switch with some fun cinematography.

The unknown ant you found on camera while watching the huntsman baby spider might be a Ghost Ant.
Also known as the black-headed ant ( at 14:00)
Characteristics include:
- Ghost ants exhibit rapid, erratic movement that resembles small spiders.
- Like odorous house ants, the ghost ant excretes a rotten coconut smell.
- Tiny; head and thorax are dark and the body is light, almost translucent.
Habitat:
- Constructs nests in moist grass and potted plants.
- Indoors, will nest in small spaces such as cracks, spaces between cabinetry, baseboards, books, and wall voids.
Imagine being a bug just chillin in your mansion and these spiders come at you. This is like Noah’s Arc with bugs.

I'm usually one of the biggest huntsman haters, and I had to look away for most of the parts with the mother, but I have to admit the parts with the babies dashing around were all really cute
Firstly, my envy for your vivarium building skills and resources is immense. To have a giant contained ecosystem to observe and balance seems endlessly fascinating. Second, the narrative, the big fanciful names, it's so easy to get invested in the plot of natural forces in action. And third, I see your workout routine is paying off, your intro was sufficiently hardass as you introduce new predators into your self contained world.

Huntsman are harmless. A lot of the ant colonies would be a way bigger threat if they escaped.
They're only huntsmen. In Australia we keep them around the house cos they eat all the bugs like cockroaches and flies.

What I love about this series so much is, I know nearly nothing about insects/reptiles and AntsCanada still manages to make its super interesting and digestible for me! Here in Sydney, Australia Huntsmans have a bad habit of laying their egg sacks in my bedroom curtains.

For someone that absolutely hates insects and anything arachnid, i cant believe im invested in the story unfolding before us. P.S. It's funny that ive been afraid of spiders my whole life and yet i find myself rooting for the spiders to thrive!

For everyone who wanted to see the big Huntsman-Spider released: He does not do so and makes a cliffhanger out of it
The green reaper is gorgeous. I used to regularly catch green mantids in the auto shop I worked at, taking them out back to live in the field. Usually they'd either scamper away or turn around to do their little mantis-haka at me ('Have at thee, knave!') and I only ever caught one winged adult. Their flight speed is as surprising as their jumping ability! I think I might have just been able to keep up at a full sprint, and that adult flew all the way across the field and into the neighborhood, at least 45 meters/50 yards. Seriously athletic insects.
Crazy ants are jerks, I hope Pandora's Ant HOA bands together to give them the boot! And of course, long live the noble hunstmen (and tarantula)!
Need some more jumping spiders! I would love to see some peacock jumping spiders or other cool species.

I immediately thought of giant 12 inch dinner plate sized huntsmans and thought of 400 of those conpletely covering the cage like mirkwood from lotr

Take with a pinch of salt, especially the 'pain' the crickets felt, Insects do not have the ability, nor the utility, to feel pain. Don't need the hobby getting bad press! Besides that, a lovely looking enclosure and great production.
The yellow ant could be (after my knowledge):
1. A yellow crazy ant
2. A lasius flavus ant
3. A honeypot ant

I’ve been watching your channel for years and I’ve always been impressed by your ability to create a narrative for your various projects from the Rhino Beatle Battles done gladiator style to desperately trying to save the Golden Army but with this project I feel you should be so proud! I never dreamt I could literally be moved to tears watching a poor little dwarf ant try to fend off a bunch of invaders just to get blasted in the face and Very clearly get hurt and it trying to brush it off… it felt like watching an amateur v Multiple master level practitioners. You’ve created such a captivating look into this beautiful world and I started crying even more while you were talking about how you feel as the creator of this beautiful place and how proud you are and how invested… what an absolutely beautiful way to put into perspective how loved and cared about we are… how even when you’re trying your best as an “omnipotent being” it can still sometimes be hard to maintain a balance. Thank you for sharing your wonderful world and the love you have for it with us! ✌🏼💕🙏🏼

When I was a kid I had some huntsman spiders in a homemade little terrarium. My mates and I thought we'd put a preying mantis in with them for fun. It was like watching a horror movie as this thing went around and carved up all the spiders lol
Imagine waking up as a reincarnated spider and seeing this kaiju walking around that you call "Mommy".
The Vivarium is becoming a more dangerous place to live in each new episode. And I'm here for it!
