I think the tempo is just perfect. It's a palpitating aria and the tempo exactly reflects the lyrics. Well chosen by the conductor. If played too slow it sounds artificial and very 19th century. This is typical late baroque music and the entire drama is in the sentiment expressed by the aria and the interpretation. Don't forget this is opera well before the reforms initiated by Christoph Willibald Gluck.
    Handel at its best.

Quelle précision dans les vocalises. Wha! Mis à part quelques mots italiens écorchés, c'est une magnifique interprétation du Vivi Tiranno

OMG! is this Bernard Labadie, sometimes he conducts soo slow that look like the lost brother of Nicholas McGegan!!! I like that he has taken this fast tempo for this wonderful aria.
    Bravo Dumaux!

the conductor will have the last word but it has to be a common choice, at least in principle

  • @olialto7

I imagine that the tempo would be the choice of the conductor rather than the singer.

    Too much vibrato / (ballato)...
And not "...sgorga i furor..." but "...sfoga i furor..."!!
