Es cierto: ahora la discriminación no es tan evidente, pero sigue siendo muy evidente que la mujer que se mueve en el mundo que tradicionalmente ha sido de los hombres sigue discriminada. Y no sólo la mujer. Pero la belleza de la música de Barbra Strozzi sigue siendo dolorosa su falta de reconocimiento.

Utterly taken by the rare and precious woman composer, one can only imagine the tsunami of prejudice she faced in 17th century Venice
Pffft most of the "prejudice" was nakedly vertical, not horizontal. Just imagine what this composer thought of commoners, or foreigners if you prefer. The poor dear! Yet another victim-hero whose merit and memory we must now stain with vapid political conceits.

Es una lastima que en latinoamera no se toquen a las grandes compositoras, habiendo bastantes desde la Edad Media hasta nuestros días, me encanta la música de esta época les recomiendo tambien la sonata duodecima de de isabella Leonarda compositora Italiana, y en lo moderno una de mis compositoras favoritas es Elena cats Chenin obras bellisimas.
tuve la suerte de cantar Amor dormiglione de Strozzi para un examen final de canto en el conservatorio de Moron, Pcia de Buenos Aires. Me hubiera encantado cantar más Strozzi, pero no al piano, que es una masacre!!!!

Does anyone know where I can find a score for this piece? I can't seem to find it anywhere, not even on Classical Vocal Reprints. I found one online that will work for just voice and piano, but it is missing certain instrumental sections that I think give this piece so much of its life, and I would really like to perform it with all those components included. I would be greatly appreciative if someone could point me in the right direction. Thank you!

+chch Some work is needed... white mensural notation isn't easy for everyone. Besides, these guys made very long and beautiful instrumental sections between each "Che si puo fare".
I agree, it isn't easy for everyone to read, and there was some arranging done for the recording, but if you have a good theorbo player, lutist, or harpsichordist, they might be able to work through it.

Does anyone know about the the line Che, che in bar 8. In my excerpt it says b (not flat). She sings flat and it sounds wonderful. I am not sure what the historic background is? What is right?
Singing Doc I'm not entirely sure if it's what she intended on doing, but from about 1100 to 1600 a lot of performers used something called "musica ficta", which essentially is a form of ornamentation/improvisation where the performer sharps or flats a note that is written (without a sharp or flat) to avoid certain intervals.
Just my guess though, as it would fit with the time period of the piece.
