If you ask me these people are incredibly selfish to leave all there loved ones behind just for a quick thrill. How many more people have to die before they stop allowing people to clime these death mountains.
Glad we didn’t ask for your self centered opinion!
I never understood why this was appealing to some people. I like to travel and see and experience new things, but I don't feel the need to risk my life for a momentary thrill.
It's a testament to the ego and stupidity among our species .
The best common sense comment
Great way to tell the stories. To the point and no over-fancy words. Thumbs up to this.
Except that most of the clips are totally incorrect lol. Like labeling climbers with the wrong names. Showing clips of someone climbing. It it’s not the mountain he’s talking about. Horrible video.
❤❤❤
@@HollyCat504I have to agree. What I meant was the storytelling and words used. I was following this channel for quite a while and I noticed that some of the newer videos used overly fancy words. A good thing they reverted back to this kind of wordings.
The script is great, detailed and not exaggerated unlike other videos like these. But the thing I really don't like is that some of the clips in the video don't align. Some of the images of people are different individuals than that of the people mentioned by the narrator.
Do you think summiting without an oxygen bottle might be a red flag ?
To the families and friends of
Jason Kennison, Pieter Swart, Ngima Tenji Sherpa, Christopher Kulish, and Nobukazu Kuriki
my deepest condolences to you. We may not all share the passion and understanding to climb Mt. Everest, but we are all universally linked by the loss of someone we care about.
Nicely worded. I agree.
Humans shouldn’t go there, the mountain is littered with bodies, there used as landmarks, it’s morbid, & gross. Condolences to their families.
I just don’t get it. My heart goes to the families and their loss. I can’t imagine thinking that my loved one is dead on the mountain and can’t come home.
Did stupid thing and died like stupid --NEVER EVER underestimate the mother nature.
It’s like a look at me thing all lined up to get to the top. ...and
"Few people have reached the summit"? By now it's a few hundred.
Since 1953, more than 6,000 people have attempted to summit Mount Everest, and at least 310 people have died on the mountain, according to the online site Everett Base Camp Trek.28.05.2023
Most reach the top ! They don't make it back you don't watch do you ! Only a few don't make it to top!
@@lindac6416A lot don’t reach the summit, what are you talking about lol? The success rate last year was only 57%. And while most do die on the descent, it’s not like thousands die. The summit has been reached over 11,000 times by almost 7000 different people. But there’s only been 327 deaths.
It’s actually in the thousands. The summit has been reached over 11,000 times by almost 7000 different people. (Many people, mainly Sherpas, have multiple summits).
@@HollyCat504 I wonder how these figures come up. If "only" 6.000 have attempted the summit climb, according to official figures from the base camp, how can 11.000 have reached the summit ? If the successrate of 57% as mentioned here by someone, is any good , I'd count no more than 3.500 successful summits. That would include those of certain sherpas, like Long Doji, who did it more than 15 times by today.
Said he made the summit. Then said he was close to the summit. May need to be modified
This show should be on dumb ways to die
When I was in a coma as a teenager I climbed Mount Everest in my head 😂😮 but in reality I know I am just a human being and I should not be climbing a mountain for no reason other than to say I did it.. too many people think that they are invincible 😮 😢Mount Everest puts them back in their place
Every single one of them was selfish. They didn't think about their families and the devastation they would leave behind if they died. They were just thinking about themselves and what they wanted. Your chances of not coming back are pretty good so, hey, let's do it!! 🤪
Not to mention all the Sherpas and porters they put at risk also
I know what you're saying but ... Lots of human pursuits are selfish if you're putting it in the perspective of "they didn't even think about their families and the devastation they would leave behind".
Everyone who rides a motorcycle, dives into a lake, smokes cigarettes, doesn't go to the doctor, etc etc etc. This is just one more choice of many choices people take, knowing the risks. Is it more dramatic than riding a motorcycle? Sure. But motorcycles on average kill thousands per year in the US alone. Deaths on Everest average between 4-5. " Sure but fewer people climb Everest than ride motorcycles!" And that's the point. People take risks because they think it's worth the reward, and their decisions harm others. Every day. Next time you do something in your every day life, like run a yellow-red light - I hope you think of your own comment and judge yourself the way you are judging these climbers.
It’s always the same.
@@alpineazalea8029oh come on. They are literally destroying the mountain they say they love. It’s a trash heap now. They deserve to be judged.
Selfish and very stupid man isn’t supposed to be that high
That picture at 8:55 has nothing to do with the story. It’s from a 1956 article of the New Yorker about an American opera production in Russia…. 😂
“Porgy and Bess in Russia”
RIP TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES!
Going there is completely crazy...
I don t feel sorry for them..
Yikes. I hope you find some compassion for others in the life you have left. Clearly you have reached the age you're at where you believe that not only is human tragedy not worth any empathy, but you believe it so strongly that you go on an obscure CZcams channel to let people know that you're the kind of person who doesn't feel sorry for others.
To each their own, I guess. Have a great day..@@silviaalatzia3413
9:48 Ähm no.... This isn't 'Ngima Tenji' ... This is Ueli Steck... What kind of documentary is this? 🤔... I'm out of here
everyone had died in May .
I dont want to sound harsh but i dont find anthing heroic about climbing mount everest and putting your life at risk. It is stupidity!
I'm gonna be the first person to reach the summit and return in my boxers only! You read it correctly! No other clothes except boxer underwear.
Wish 🤞 me luck! 😳
this has to be one of the worst pieces of film I have ever seen; the commentary is pedestrian and the shots often bear no relation whatsoever to what the commentary purports to describe.
So these climbers go without showering for many days from what I understand. That can't be a good thing. I am curious as to how they handle their toileting needs.
I could never climb Mount Everest or K2. I wouldn’t want to be the next victim to the conditions. I cherish life and my family. Besides you’re not really accomplishing much.
Nothing clever about "climbing" Everest these days it's a combination or amatuer climber, cash and leave your trash....
Video has no relevance to the commentary.
Too much babble!
Dont listen to people on the internet Kariki. Some of them probably cant walk two blocks.
These men had determination even doth they were not that young, and some had injuries. Why Mount Everest they want to accomplish? Maybe man not suppose to venture there...This reminded me of the Tower of Babel where GOD confuse their language that they didn't understand each other, because GOD didn't wanted them to reach that point. Before sin the earth was flat, but GOD send a flood upon the earth causing the earth to hv mountains, valley's, hot, and cold weather that man cannot withstand. So to those men that wants to reach a certain parts on earth remember the story of Babel, and the lives of these five men.
The Sherpa was earning a living?
@@PatriciaMarie100 it don't hv other ways of earning a living? I see that as suicidal.
@@doloreswinsbarrow1110 Not a lot of good jobs there to support a family, other than becoming a mountain guide.
@@Justicia007 i understand, so sad. Someone told me a young woman from Trinidad climb it and reach the top.
