    Outershell Adventure handlebar bag is terrific. Like all the side pockets for stuffing in things. Actually you have mentioned this bag awhile ago which triggered me to purchase it. Use it a lot so thanks for the great tip.

    Love my OuterShell front bag! It’s a great size and so easy to access. I have it on my gravel bike and it’s perfect. Too bad they’re so expensive, but the quality is worth it.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts on bike packing bags. You should have a look at Alpkit Sewell just looks as good as the bags you have mentioned.

    It's going to be carradice for me, yeah they're a bit heavy but it's so easy to access bits and bobs in the wide open-top format that I can't possibly go back. Using a bagman support they're rock steady and don't shift at all. And you can put more stuff on top of them like sleeping bag, bivvy etc with bungees too. I got mine (carradice barley saddlebag) with a bagman support for £40 second hand and it's a star performer.

    I have the same top tube bag :-) I do have a pannier rack & panniers on my old (2008) Dawes Horizon Touring Bike, but that does add to the weight of the bike! However I find panniers more convenient if you need to take stuff to and from work, as the weight is down low, rather than at the saddle. At the end of the day, folk need to use what works best for themselves! :-)
    I tend to use a carradice Super C SeatPack on my road bike for audaxing.

    I only have a few bits for the ride outs. I have a top tube bag (Tescos own, that they were selling off for 2 quid). I use that for phone, spare tube, padlock and a few munchies. I have an underseat Topeak for tools. For any other carrying I have a Camelback that will take a load of stuff. I used that for commuting and I could get a laptop, charger, change of clothes, shoes and a projector in there. Not exactly comfortable though. I had panniers on the old commuter, but that is because it was set up as a tourer. I don't think I would go back to that style, and would just do more versatile bags in the future. Good review as usual.

    Great video, as an ultra endurance fan, bike bags are key, specially the feeding bags I keep forgetting to buy until i have to juggle a bag of skittles out of my back pocket XD Waht are the bags youre going to use on your epic 1000km bike ride and what bike?

    They are called bar loops I think! Apidura do a similar bag to the Revelate. Apidura seem v.well thought out/robust but not cheap. Re that loose velcro, a small staple put thro' should hold it secure and is easy to remove. What's happening re your B&M dynamo/charger?

    Outershell adventure struck me for its quality, although you can't have well-crafted pieces of equipment at low prices obviously. I will save the link into my favourites; the stem one promises well, seems pretty deep so you can stuff a lot in there and keep everything at hand. Great tips Katie =}

    Hi Katie, Great video! Two quick questions: which size of the Apidura handlebar do you use? is it the 9 or 14l? I would like to be able to use the same bag both on my road and mtb. Any preference in small frame bags like the Topeak midloader?

    Katie I've got a topeake small slim top tube bag but no hole for doing charging, think I'll customize mine and drill a small hole. I luv my top tube bag too the only niggle I have is the velcro straps can slip on the frame so you bash the bag with your knee so I must fit some sort of spacer between the bag and frame to try and keep the bag level, do you get this problem too? atb Pete

    Did I hear you say bivy....get an ultralight tent instead, will probably be just fractionally heavier than a bivy but with much more room and added privacy. and if in the rain, it will provide proper shelter when you are cooking and eating your food.
    But I am delighted if you are going bikepacking and sleeping in the wild. It is a great experience provided you are in the right area. Come to Iceland for bikepacking trips, you will love it.
