I spend a huge amount of money eating out, sometimes cheap, sometimes expensive. I'm a bit of a connoisseur. And without a doubt, Waffle House is my very favorite restaurant in the world - that is, any one of 96% of them (there are a handful of lazy lame ones). This is based on food quality, speed, attentiveness of service, friendliness of service, consistency and price. I'm very serious. They have high quality and the employees take it seriously. In almost every store. I know some of you are rolling your eyes. But it's true.

It's been my default road food for years. The only thing I've ever gotten from WH that was outright bad was when I tried to go a little healthy and ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich. It'd been marinated in soy and was way too salty.
All-Star breakfast platter is about the most food you can get anywhere for under $7, if you can handle all the carbs. They make great cheeseburgers, patty melts and hashbrowns. You can even get a half-ass decent t-bone steak there.
I love it. You go there late at night, you see all kinds of things. I once saw the head waitress stop an armed robbery with her pistol to the head of the perp.

I can't find the Waffle House anthems on the new boxes, however. I'd like to find "Special Lady At The Waffle House" and "Raisins In My Toast". The Waffle House - A Fine Dining Experience
When I walked into the house of waffles and was snortled at by a server with neon red hair, I knew I was in for something. I didn't know what yet, but I knew that this would not be the standard American dining experience. Sami, think Cleveland Brown but in a Waffle House uniform, quickly whipped up our food(?). I say food(?) as I'm not sure what I consumed. I'm not going to spend long critiquing the food(?), as what is most striking about this restaurant is the characters you find here. For example, as pictured we have the girl with the green bob cut, who sat sulking in the corner staring into nothing, yet everything at the same time. I think it's important to note that for every 1 person that entered the "restroom", 5 people came out.

Some perspective for this report. I grew up in Charleston SC. As a young adult I was deeply involved in theater and opera. After an opening nights performance, I would get up early and go o the local Waffle House to read the reviews when the early edition was delivered. I also enjoyed breakfast there.
However, when I moved to Tampa, Florida, someone had gone to the expense and trouble of reviewing most of the restaurants and published them in a booklet that was organized from best to worst. The very last entry was for Waffle House which simply said "some people eat here, I don't know how." That surprised be because of my own experiences.
Now I live in backwoods Gold Rock NC. I met some friends for breakfast there and what was supposed to pass for food was inedible. In short, I don't think you can make reviews such as you have done here and expect them to be valid across the board.

Their waffles are horrible. But I love their eggs and friendly employees. They need to bring more of these franchises to the north because Denny’s and Bob Evan’s is boring.

No Waffle House here in the northeast. But at the diner I go to I always get the same thing every single time: 2 eggs over medium with sausage, home fries, rye toast, a glass of ice water, a bottomless cup of coffee, a bottle of Tabasco and a few extra napkins. And I read the paper while I eat (yes, some people still read the actual paper and I don't mean online). Can I get this at Waffle House? If so, and if they would expand up here to the northeast, I would definitely give them a try.

It's kind of weird how waffle house seems different depending on what time you go to waffle house. During the day is completely different compared to being there at like 1:30 in the morning.

Thought this was Serena and was going to honestly compliment her, but from comments it seems to be another host (Whitney Filloon?) Not sure if this is true, but regardless of who's narrating this format and style of hosting is a lot better than previous cult following, because it gets to the core of what makes the restaurant special in a consistent and steady way, instead of awkward conversation pieces interlaced between short clips and people repeating each other.

The ordering at 1:00 or so, thats not a Waffle House thing so much as it is the tradition of the short-order diner, but the language used would be different in each region or even each diner. WH being a chain uses standardized language, but that just for WH.

I lovingly refer to my local as the Awful House - because I got excessively greasy hash browns, to go, one time. I still eat there; it's fun people in front of and in back of the counter, you always get what you order, it's open all the time everyday no exceptions. You should go to eat when you want, or go to eat and see who works the shift you've never been to.
Waffle house waffles are amazing. Great menu. If you been late night/early morning dancing and been having fun bar time, afterwards go to the Waffle House for people of you ilk !! Can be fun !!

My Waffle House gripe is: They keep the air conditioning turned up way too high, and I'm freezing cold - in the summer, when I don't have a coat. 2D gripe: My Waffle house traded their full menu for a much smaller menu. I want the full menu back. --- What's good ? Just about everything else. The chicken is salted perfectly, best pork chops ever, love the Bert's Chili, All Star Breakfast is the best full breakfast, patty melts - a blast from the past, and of course, eggs any way you want them (except Eggs Benedict). All on a real plate. The pickles are amazing little salt bombs - ask for some.
