The camera.... Well it's ok other than salt and rust in the USB ports, salt crystallizing being the lens and flash.... I'm thinking it's a gonner lol Take the time, it can be fun once you get the hang of it. The pay-off is worth it. I'll keep the camera rolling (another camera).
I do go out on solo overnight trips as well with my kayak, so I really enjoyed watching your video. Thanks for sharing!

Great video as always!
Thank you Brandy! Glad you enjoyed it
Great video. I used to live in Miami when I was younger and this brings me back. I am now in Ajax Ontario Canada and though we have heaps of lakes and rivers, nothing beats South Florida. I bought a yak because of your vids. Cheers.
Thanks cadman! Glad you enjoyed the video! South Florida certainly could be considered a paddlers paradise.... A big goal of mine is to get down to the Florida Keys for a week soon. WOuld be a fabulous trip! Glad you decided to join in on the fun. Hope you get lots of enjoyment out of your new yak! What did you end up buying?
Another great video! I was wondering if you've worked out the kinks in the Canadian purchases (postage) of your stickers & t-shirts yet?
They have a snorkel reef set up in Gulf Shores, Alabama and another in Pensacola, Florida. I think that there is no comparison to the Turtle Reef. Thanks for sharing this! 👌
Yea, I haven't seen the others yet..... I hope to!
Great video! I got to start doing things like that.
Make it happen Dennis! Thanks!
YES! Thanks for the new vid!:)
Yes!!!! You're welcome!!!!
Hey Mr. Smith. In the video you discuss the down side of having a cooler with ice. I would suggest that you use some dry ice along with some water ice. The dry ice will lower the cooler temp and the water ice will last for several days. Yes, i use this method regularly on multi-day canoe trips.
That's true..... I'm party just lazy in that regard and don't want to deal with it. I don't mind the hot stuff so much lol
I needed this video today
Glad you had a moment to watch! Thanks for commenting!
Yes!!! Sailing and such finally !!! Your the best
Glad you like the videos Collin! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Another masterpiece!
Thanks Monk! Glad you think so!
Sweet, a new vid!!!!!! FINALLY!🚣
I know it!!!! lol
Rewatching!!! Going to grayton next week taking my ocean kayak!!
+Mississippi Leg Hound Ha! Hope you have a blast! That reef is pretty nice if you can make that....
YEA! You're back!! Missed your videos....you crack me up. "kinda sketchy"...lol! My son and I always think of you when we're eating our avocados. I recently had to drag my kayak up a steep hill and nearly busted a gut ;) Keep up the great work!!! BTW....I don't like crocs but those aren't too bad!! :)
YEA! Glad you find them fun to watch! That's awesome lol Love those avocados! Ha, yea I was happy to not to have to drag it back up the hill, it would have been a challenge for sure but mayb not as hard as running 2.4 miles now that I think about it..... lol You are right, they aren't to bad. I was hesitant even when I first bought them but after wearing them though, they are just about all I want to wear. They are the first thing I grab..... If you're on fence, GET SOME!
Can't wait for the next one already
Meeee to Austin!
Turtle Reef looks gorgeous, the water so blue and nice white sand. Thanks for sharing your trip and sorry to see your camera got broken! At least you recovered all that footage.
It is pretty nice no doubt. I hope to go back sometime and maybe the water will be a little clearer. I'm glad the footage arrived as well. Thanks for the comment.
great vid, what a fantastic time out, am new to canadian canoeing but would like to try kayaking as well, you have definitely sold me.

Wow me and my kayaking buddy aka Mary love going to Grayton State Park then over to the beach live here local didn't no about turtle reef. Watched your 3 day trip on the choctawhatechee river from Al. loved it as well . Like the fact you do camp trips.Really enjoy your videos.
It's a great spot Patty. The Turtle Reef is a new treasure! Glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I go to the beach right down the road from the bridge in Western Lake in Seaside. Western Lake is beautiful, I've kayaked there and it was amazing!
Awesome Jack! Very nice place down there for sure.
Always enjoy your videos. God bless brother!
Thanks Tinman! God Bless you and your's as well!
Hey I saw your comment on the video influencers live stream and see your into kayak camping. We are on the other side of the world in Australia and we love our kayaking. We are just on the way into summer now so this season we are going to get on the water more. We have 2 kayaks but reluctantly I am going to have to sell my strip planked wooden vessel as we need to downsize to a single that can take the 2 of us. Great channel keep up the great work Regards Russell
Hey! I enjoy watching their videos over there.... Good luck with the channel! Hope you find a nice kayak for 2 soon!
The canned salmon is an excellent idea! Thanks. Come to Florida. Waiting on ya!
And delicious! I'm itching to get back down to the coast... It's probably my favorite place to do trips....
Just say when. Come alone or bring the gang! Perfect time of year, weathers good, mullets running and our spoil islands are awesome.
Well, I enjoy it the most when I can swim.... lol
5 minutes in and you've reminded me of the pea river trip. I think that was one of the first that I watched. Think I'll have to replay after this new one is done!
Ps: Great vid. Shame about the camera. I really like the stealth camping. You should do some more like this. Can't wait til it warms up a bit here. I've got a kayak adventure in mind.
The Pea River, that was a fun one. Speaking of it, I actually found out that the dam I portaged around has broken. I'm thinking of making another trip out there and checking it out. Should be pretty cool.
Yea, my poor camera... I like the stealth camping as well. I wonder though if I'll ever get in some sort of trouble posting "illegal" camping on CZcams lol Hope you get to take your adventure sooner than later!
It's me again. That looked like fun. Very cool. The whole time I am thinking How is his kayak going to stay near him. haha. Have fun be safe.
Hey again! Oh it was certainly fun! I was actually planning on filming the buoy and talking about how I tie up to things, but.... you know the rest. Will do bud, thanks!
Your my idle i love your videos your the one who got me into kayaking 😄😄😄
Glad you enjoy them bud. Hope you are enjoying the new hobby!
Firefighter? Cool, same here up in NC - great videos, keep it up.
Awesome Jason, great career. Glad you enjoy the videos. I'll keep the camera rolling.
I sorda like the shoes myself, great vid man keep um comeing, new sub here
Fabulous shoes! Thanks for the sub Popa!!!!
I missed the part where you went to the Red Bar ;) great video!!
Ha! You know my plan actually was to finish up at the reef and head in for lunch at Red Bar. Unfortunate event changed my plans.... I did consider a strong drink though lol Glad you enjoyed it!
Looked like a fun excursion
It certainly was!
Looks like fun. I can't believe how blue that water is. Up here in Oregon, ours is usually gray, if it isn't green!
It was! We are pretty fortunate down here when it comes to pretty water!
I just started watching your videos a couple days ago and I can't stop watching them! I am getting a kayak is there any tips or gear you recommend
Awesome Grizzly! Hmmm, sure start here- czcams.com/video/JhmNyXY9y7M/video.html Then check out my Gear Talk playlist.
Love your vids no matter what happens, sorry for your Camera and can't believe you left kayak and ran to truck-lol,ours would be stolen within 5 mins i reckon.Always an Adventure!
Thanks Dismal! Yea, I made sure where I left it that it wasn't visible from the road. It was only visible from the water and there weren't hardly any people out there, if any.... Maybe a canoe or something. If it were a higher traffic area I would have hidden it really well. Always!!!
Dude you just became my favorite dude ever just because of your reference to the trueman show reference… love that movie and love your reference to it in your own world 🌎👏🏼👍🫡
Super cool adventure as always. Hey, I recognize those Crocs. Did you anchor the yak when you snorkel'd?
Thanks! I was going to cover that..... I actually tied up to the buoy that the crab pot was tied to. There were two buoys out there.
Another great video my friend. sorry about your camera, wish you could have stayed the full three nights. oh.....and I like the shoes....I have been looking for some like that.....keep up the great work.
Glad you enjoyed it Crow! I wish I could have stayed to, I had some good ideas for the video.... Well, I can't say enough good things about the shoes. I wear them as much as I can, they are the first ones I go for every day, all day when conditions permit.
We camped and Kayaked there before...That place is really nice.
Definitely a great place to spend some time paddling!
Trip ,,, Awesome adventure !!! ***COOL*** =)
+Lloyd McGriff Thanks again Loyd!
Nice video! Looks like you camped right next to the rv campground pretty much...we RV'ed there in June. I had no idea about the "turtle reef" I feel robbed now! Nice DIY tarp! You ever wish you had a hammock with bugnet?
Thanks!!!! Yea, I was pretty close to it, looked pretty nice. Hate you missed it when you were down! All the more reason for another trip. Thanks, love my DIY tarp and hammock. Hammock with bugnet? Nah, don't really think i would like it. Bugs aren't constant, sometimes they are there and sometimes they aren't. Not sure if you can remove the bug nets from the hammocks or not but I image they make you a little warmer than you would be without one. I do carry a small piece of "bugnet" like material that I bought at Walmart in the fabric section for a few bucks. I use it when I need it and it does just fine.
great vid Trip, i woulda like to have seen footage of you getting back in the yak in deep water though lol ....how did that go? i struggle with it myself. if u getta chance film that one time
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching! I was planning on filming that, the second time getting back in but.... well you know what happened I guess. It went pretty well actually. I'll get it on film for ya ;)
Trip what kind of kayak are you using here?
Nice video, keep them coming.
That is an older Wildnerness Systems Sealution II. Great touring yak..... Will do! Thanks!
Yes! Have been longing for this! I did a kayak-trip myself, my first this summer, in the swedish archipelago, and man, was it awesome. Loved every bit of it! Anyways, thank you for sharing your moments again. And sorry about the camera :P ANd btw. The audio is not that bad with the GoPro when the waterproof casing is off. :)
Yes!!!! Your first trip! CONGRATS!!! Yea, it's unfortunate about the camera but it happens.... You are right about the audio without the case. But then it'll just get wet.... Sony or someone needs to let me design a camera!
I love the dune lakes. Next time down hit me up. I live right do the street from Grayton beach.
I will Matt! For sure! I'm looking into fishing yaks and hope to get one soon. I haven't done much research on them in the past so I'm busy studying them trying to decide on one.... We'll get together!
Good resolution! Great to see a new video.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and commenting!
By the way - I saw that the neck croakie you have is no longer sold (company is out of stock and seems to be out of business?)
Have you encountered anything similar, that floats the eyeglasses and also wraps around the neck?
Oh wow, that's no good. I haven't ever seen anything else like it. Hate that for the company...
Bummer! Hopefully someone else does something similar.
Nevermind! It seems they are no longer for sale via the NexStrap website but they are still working to get units to suppliers. Product can still be ordered here: www.cooriginalproducts.com/collections/summer-products/products/nexstrap
Great video... When you stretched your harm to drain the liquid off the can all I could think was SNAP there it is the American Alligator. LOL BTW where did you get the quinoa? That looks like the packages we buy for backpacking but you have to add hot water to cook them!!
+Peter Ferreira Haha, didn't see any out there... I can't recall, probably Wal-Mart though lol.
If you split your paddle you can use them like ski poles and push yourself through shallow parts.
Hm, your right! Pretty good idea. I'll have to give that a shot! Thanks for the tip!
At last, S&S is back! Great video, when you left the beach going to Turtle Reef... reminded me a bit of Castaway :-) Really like your UW-footage, but have you tried using a red filter on your camera, or post edit to make color correction?
Thanks for the awsome video, can´t wait for the next one! (thumbs up)
Hey Magnus! Castaway, love that movie! I haven't tried either one of those, I guess I need to do some studying on it huh? Glad you enjoyed it bud, thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey man, I just discovered your vids, and I appreciate them.
I am going to buy a sea kayak to paddle for long distances and to sometimes have fun with going fast, but I can't know if it is better to buy a plastic kayak or a fiber one.
Can you help me ?
Sorry for my bad english btw, I'm french.
Glad you enjoy the videos! No problem with the language. Well, it all depends on your budget really. A plastic one will certainly work but a fiber yak like an "Epic" brand would be faster but also more expensive. Go with whatever you can afford.
Hey loving the videos. I was considering buying a long sleeve light blue S&S dry fit shirt but the color wasn't available. Is there a way a I can still get one.
Glad you enjoy them Noah!!! Absolutely! Sorry I'm unable to put unlimited options on the website... I may need to work on that. Shoot me an email though and I'll fix you up bud. (can't put an email address in the comment but it's on the website ;))
Put my sailingandsuch sticker on my kayak!! Looks great
Awesome Jack! Glad to hear it arrived safely!
I tie hot drinks up with some cord and throw them in the ocean. I don't know what the water temps are down there, but in North Carolina it only takes about 5 minutes to cool my gatorades down to a reasonable temperature. Try it next time your out, its *way* better than drinking hot gatorade that's been sitting on or in your kayak.
The water temps down here in the summer are pretty darn warm, to warm to cool off drinks for sure. Except in the winter but then you don't need to cool them down lol Good tip though!
Kinda jealous of that clear water, white sand beaches and sunny weather but glad my trips out don't need to factor in alligator, cotton mouth's and shark ;-) Cool Vid.
Rob.
There are trade off for everything for sure. I'd love to experience what you have in your area as well I imagine. Thanks for watching and commenting Rob!
The sea around here is cold so a dry suit is often the ideal garb to venture out in, beaches are a mix of pebbles, shingle and sand..not always on the same beach and being in the Thames estuary area the water is often cloudy so that the only time you see something while snorkelling is when your head hits the sea bed ;-)
That said, being out on the water is very relaxing and a huge stress antidote.
Thanks for your reply and your service, your job is not an easy one if I understood correctly that you are in the fire service.
ATB Rob
Nice place. And overnight stay on the trail ... lol))
Thanks Lexa! It was a great place!
Great video! What paddle are you using?
Thanks Bruce! Ummmmm, I can't recall without going out and checking it..... It's nothing super special though. I bought it at Academy. They have a decent selection I guess. I didn't but the cheapest or the most expensive, I think it was $60. I do own one of the cheapest ones and I will say the $60 paddle is a better paddle to use, no doubt.
Hey Trip awesome video! Sorry to hear about your camera. What kind of camera do you use to film? Hope there are more adventures left before winter.
Henry Schneider
Glad you enjoyed it Henry! Good to hear from ya. That one was a Olympus TG 870. Going to try filming with a new waterproof smartphone coupled with a GoPro at time when underwater footage is needed. We will see how it goes...
Dig a hole in the sand - 2ft or so, put a stick in the middle - bigger that hole, cover what you want to stay cold in a ziplock or plastic bag - sand block, place items in hole and cover, remove stick leaving you with a hole, then pour water in stick hole and cover hole, next day = cold food and drinks...;)
That's interesting! I bet it works to, sounds pretty smart. Thanks for sharing!
Coincidence I see this video now... I was just at Grayton State Park a couple weeks ago; was on a trip and stopped by to check it out. Next time you are in the area, checkout 'South of Philly' for lunch on Hwy 393. Stopped there because of the reviews and the hamburgers definitely lived up to the hype!
Lol I'll have to check out that hot spot. I LOVE good burgers!
Just for future reference all that tall grass near the water is called black tip needle grass (we usually call it saw grass) and it burns like crazy. Good idea not to have a camp fire around that stuff. Plus just about everything in Florida burns quite readily. We have wildfires all year round. Nice video. Thanks.
Gotcha! Thanks for the good info!
Great looking water. Great to see you out on the Yak again. The area you camped looks like the wooded area on Dauphin Island, Alabama. The water looks far better. We have all the silt from Mobile Bay muddying up the water here. But we do have great fisheries. And crabbing is outstanding.
Oh yea, it's gorgeous down there. Dauohin Island, I've been told I need to go down that way for a trip. I'm sure I'll end up there eventually.... Good crabbing aye? I love good crabbing! Is the water clear enough to wade for them?
SailingandSuch If it has not been raining so much. Gig for flounder or scoop up crabs wading. Waters can be crystal clear at times, but often it has some sediment. You must come over when there has been clear weather for a week or so. I'd be glad to help point you in some areas to tackle. Love your videos, keep it up and keep 'em coming.
Gotcha. A really close family friend is the game warden down there in Baldwin County. He has told me a good bit about it and I'm ready to get a trip over there sometime in the future. Thanks for the tips sounds like a good place!
SailingandSuch Baldwin County is great too. In fact, the south end has lots to offer a man on a yak. Not that Mobile County doesn't. Each is unique. I wish I knew when a Jubilee would happen. That would be a glorious night for you. Every aquatic species rushes to shore during a Jubilee in Mobile Bay. Only one other place in the world does that and it is in Japan. Check out South West Baldwin Co. on Google Earth. It also has loads of history. Pirates, Spanish and French explorers. It is said that one such Pirate left behind a structure made from a cement mixed with oyster shell. I'd be happy to help ya out anytime if you make it this way. Thanks again for the vids, love it!
Thanks for the offer for showing me around! I appreciate that as sometimes you just don't know where to go... The Jubilee! He has told me about that. I forgot I wanted to do a video on it.... Thanks for reminding me! I'm going to have to see if I can figure out when it will be.
Sounds like a very cool place steeped in history!
you should do a multi day kayak tripw where you kayak to each coastal dune lake and take the gulf to them
Yea.... WOuld be cool!
I enjoyed the snorkeling, but what were the barnacles on, never seen anything like them.
They are artificial reef structures. Basically little fish hotels. Pretty neat, it was my first time seeing them as well.
YES !!!! Its been a while !!
It has, I apologize....
+SailingandSuch I've been to Florida once but you can take me to any Pond or river and I can still catch largemouth bass sadly when we went to Florida I could not bring any of my bass fishing gear 😫
+SailingandSuch and keep up the good work
Will do Blake, thanks!
Did you use a bug net ? Excellent video !
I did, just a piece of "bug net" like material from a fabric store..... Light, cheap and it works!
Looks you where diving on an artificial reef , what’s it made from?
Yep! Ummm some concrete structures made specifically for artificial reefs.
New subscriber to this channel but really dig it!! Want to get myself and son into the kayak camping scene soon. You should do some videos in the Houston /Galveston Bay Area and we'd hook up with you and help support the channel
Glad you enjoy it Cory! Thanks for subscribing!!! I hope I get to travel to more distant places like your area. As S&S grows I think that will be more much more of a possibility. Hope you and your son get to spend some time together out there soon!
Another great vid👍🏽
Sorry about your camera. Did it dry out?
Got my iPhone wet about a week ago acting stupid on my kayak. Waterproof case failure after only about a minute submerged😱
waterproof cases are never waterproof. Mine failed after 10 seconds in a puddle.
Thanks 2d! Oh yea, it dried out. But there was rust and salt crystals all inside it and behind the lens and flash.... Yea, I'm not really 100% sure what I'm going to do for the next camera.....
