Oshiomhole Condemns Yahaya Bello Breaching The Law + EFCC Urged To Probe POS Operators|W/OjyOkpe

- Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, is the latest to condemn the actions of the governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, for his interference in the legal scuffle between his predecessor, Yahaya Bello and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Over the weekend, the Senator spoke at the national integration conference, organised by the Kukah Centre, urging citizens to speak up against breaches of the law irrespective of who is involved.
The former governor of Edo State, also addressed the issue of sexual orientation in the Nigerian context during the conference, which was themed “Revisiting the national question: Nigeria’s elusive search for national integration’. Oshiomole stated that in Nigeria, sexual orientation matters, and that homosexuality should be condemned.
As many Nigerians express concern over the demolition of Landmark Beach, the meeting between the minister of works and housing, Dave Umahi and contractors handling the 200 kilometers ‘Abuja Lokoja Benin road, has made the rounds on social media.
During the meeting, Umahi sent a stern warning to contractors who refuse to sign a new contract to forget the Job.
The minister further stressed that he will send locals to beat up any contractor seen onsite without a contract.
As the fight against corruption by the economic and financial crimes commission takes center stage, human rights activist, Francis Nwapa, and Actress Hilda Dokubo have asked the anti graft agency, to also look into corruption of point of sale operators, who buy naira from financial institutions and resell to Nigerians at exorbitant rates.
Nwapa asked the anti-graft agency in a post on X, to arrest individuals in different financial institutions who are responsible for making Nigerians buy naira in their own country, stating that it is the worst form of Naira abuse! Dokubo on the other hand called for the regulation of ‘POS’ and a thorough investigation of bank officials engaging in the act.

You'll notice that POS are closed to banks and ATMs. While ATMs are not dispensing, POS will have cash to sell Naira to Nigerians. I am a victim of this. Yet the bank will still deduct their charges on customers. It's frustrating!!!

With due respect to Dr. Abati, the Banks only get cash from CBN. A bank with 17branches in a city will be given 25m cash for a whole week, so how then can they have cash to give to their customers.

I tend to agree with Dr Abati, let Adams Oshiomole put his money where his mouth is by following up on his observations at the senate and in his local community. Rufai nailed it on the head, Oshiomole has been one of those run Nigeria's ship aground so he should watch his recent holy than though stance. Talk is cheap, let action follow convictions. I'm glad that the Nigerian authorities and ministeries are now waking up and taking the proper steps in addressing the excesses of foreign companies and organizations in our country. As for POS operators, they only need to be properly regulated as they deliver a vital service in time of need. The banks do not have branches everywhere in Nigeria hence the POS operators filled those spaces.

There are so many ways POS operators source for cash . It's not just through banks alone. Besides banks are following CBN cashless policies.

I’ve said it before and I am going to say it again: it should be enshrined in the Nigerian law that no government official should have their children studying outside Nigeria. If you have your children studying overseas, then don’t run for public office. And if you are a public officer, it should be an impeachable offense to send your children to study outside Nigeria. Rufai the problem is that most Nigerian contractors are not honest. They’ll collect the contract, give kickbacks to those supervising them and abandon the job eventually. But the foreign contractors have a brand to protect so they’d do the job most of the time.
Let who is without sins be the first to cast the stone. Oshomole is not different from Yahaya Bello. All these are all criminals. We should not expect anything better from power grabbers.

If I must comment in my own opinion, I would like to say that most POS operators get their cash from supermarket, fuel stations, and other small shops who don't want to face the stress of taken their money to the bank and cue up For a transaction you would have done in a minute. POS has made things easier for the common man in Nigeria and I don't think it's the problem of Nigeria at a moment. Let's face the reality for a better Nigeria. God bless Nigeria
