YAMAHA EDL11000SDE Diesel Generator cold start

Northern Ontario, overnight -30c. morning cold start at -25c. Generator is test started every month. starts easy up to -15c. this is the coldest test start yet. No block heater or other.

What about fuel consumption? it sas 28liters for 7hours so about 4 liters per 10kw/hour... it seems not economical...

1.1 Gallons per hour at full load. 7.4 gallon fuel tank. At 100% load will run for 6.7hrs. This info and more from absolute generators on the Kubota Lowboy 2 GL11000. The Yamaha is identical minus pain and graphics of course

How cold was it ? She really battled to get going

It was -30c overnight, at the time of start up my thermometer read -25c.
