There was a couple in my high school that looked like siblings. It threw everyone off because their facial structures were so fricken unique from everyone elses that people had to perform mental gymnastics to fathom that they weren't siblings. They legitimately just looked like gender bent versions of each other.

We actually just learned about this in my college Social Psychology class and it's referred to as matching. It's where we are attracted to people who are of a very similar attractiveness to us. As well as after a while of being in a relationship with someone you will both start to relate to each other mentally and physically more and more, because of the influence you both consciously and subconsciously have on each other.

Uncomfortable fact:
people are biologically wired, to some extent, to feel attraction towards those who resemble their parents. There were also cases of long-lost siblings who met up and dated, without realizing they’re siblings until the long-lost sibling wants to get genetic testing to find their their bio family (and fsr didn’t do that before they dated their bio sibling).
So if a person looks like their parent, chances are they feel more attracted to those to who like themself. Of course, there are exceptions, including myself (I am ace after all) and there are people who do have a higher preference for people who can look way different from any of their family members. But let’s be real, it’s still really uncomfortable that this is a thing.
Extra uncomfortable: this extends a bit to mannerisms. I hate myself whenever I'm like "oh hey that thing my bf just did I could swear I've heard that from my dad last week."
I’ve read this is more about feelings of familiarity, security, and comfort rather than sexual though, I wouldn’t worry too much about it
@@gwenythice7230 Yes, all the things you listed are true, but there were multiple cases of siblings that became sexually attracted to each other. My guess is that the familial feeling has an overlap with romantic or sexual feeling because of separation. I’ve also heard that plenty of kids start out “crushing” on their family members, especially their parents, but that feeling fades the older they get (seriously, that is a thing.)
I think that because the long-lost siblings never knew each other, they never had any “lessening” of attraction. There wasn’t any exposure to begin with, so they had to start out from the very beginning. I know this all sounds really, REALLY weird, but hey, gotta come up with an explanation somehow.

I've heard about how gay or bi men and hetero or bi women are sometimes attracted to a man that resembles their dad but here I am with an abusive dad lol I don't wanna date someone that looks like someone i've never liked I even feel insecure about myself cuz I look like my dad and I don't wanna remember him just from looking at myself in a mirror. but yeah exceptions do exist even for facts and truths.

We're attracted to what we are familiar to whether we realize it or not I guess to answer the question you have to be aware of the faces and traits you in childhood especially.
