Wow that Nightshade palette is beautiful 😍😍😍 Laura & Mannys palette looks pretty too especially for everyday, Im not supporting either of them at the moment but that doesnt mean I cant appreciate the look of something.

girrrrrrrl I think you're right about Too Faced palettes. The Born This Way palette was made in Italy also and it was a big hit and several of the holiday palettes are made is the US and assembled in the Dominican Republic. I'm definitely warning my friends to look out for where it's manufactured because your logic is tracking.

Hey Jen! I am just doing my makeup watching this swatch party! Thanks so much for doing this!! All the makeup content I have watched over the years, and I have never watched a video dedicated to swatching, both finger and brush, just for the sake of playing with color (and for showing us the performance of these shadows). It is so laid back and relaxing, exactly what I needed today…I learned makeup as a fine artist who painted mainly portraits, so my love of color and playing with shades for just the joy it gave me has been with me for as long as I remember. I love this so much…I just wanted to say thanks for giving my inner child as well as my artist close to an hour of joy!🎉❤🎉
I am not really wearing a lot of eye makeup anymore, but I am still keeping some of my fav palettes.
I love to still swatch them on my arm from time to time, just for the for fun and how pretty they look 😂😂😂

A Swatch Party! It’s been a few years since I’ve seen a swatch party! So fun!
Thanks for sharing all your hard earned information on swatches and how it informs application. I didn’t know how much information you can learn from swatching. I don’t like using my fingers. I do wet a brush or use a sponge applicator. I love the switch so much. It’s changed my approach to brush care and cleaning enormously. I also use a microfibre cloth to clean my more “tender” brushes. I have the Lunar Beauty palette and I’m awaiting my Sydney Grace palettes. International shipping is a bit slower and I did purchase during Christmas in July. Her formulae are excellent. The Lunar Beauty formulae are excellent as well.
I have 3 Colourpop palettes. All of them show up on my skin. I have a medium dark skin tone. I don't have enough experience with Colourpop shadows clearly, but I'm happy with the ones I have. The Naruto one may very well not show up on my skin. I generally shy away from light colours.
I ordered Heaven on Earth last week. My first ever Sidney Grace palette. I'm so excited to try it out and love that you just happened to swatch it today. LOVE IT!

Jen, your son's super cultured, I'll tell you that right now.
I used to like CP palettes, I didn't love them. I liked them enough to have some of their palettes, but once I tried great indi shadows... oh men, what an eye-opener.😅 I realized how low CP shimmer shadow quality is. The mattes most of the time are decent, but shimmers 🙄. No ma'am. 😅
So as I’ve learned from from friends, family and social media - I’m weird, in a few respects. I guess that eyeshadow palettes are one more arena I can add to the list. I so much prefer buildable formulas - so many more possibilities! Thank you for this, Jen - great content.

This makes me want to go through some of my palettes that I have had trouble with to maybe find better ways to use the shades (fingers vs. brushes and building) as well as think about the formulas I like so I can continue to buy those specifically. Thanks for the video!
This was so fun to watch! I love a good swatching party ✨ A couple of things I’ve learned on my makeup journey lol- some formulas work best with a translucent tacky base (ex. urban decay primer potion) and blended with swiping motions. Others work best with an opaque sticky base (ex. gerard cosmetics clean canvas eye base) with tapping motions. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like that particular TF palette is salvageable either way 😐

A lot of these shadows are best used Wet. That means either a wet brush w a dab of water or setting spray. I’ve been using eyeshadow since MAC was invented & most shades need to be wet to spread well just fyi. The brush swatches are weak. Thanks for your reporting 🍒🍒

Fool Fantasy will be my next purchase. I've never tried Laura Lee LA, but I got a lunar pallet from boxycharm and it's my favorite thing. It's not even a discontinued pallet!

I love colorful eyeshadow palettes, I used to wear more fun colors on my eyes but since hitting my 40's and becoming an esthetician and a mom I haven't ventured into colors as much anymore. I do miss it!
IDK if you've tried this yet, but I find the inner eye/tear duct area to be a fun place to wear a pop of color. Even if everything else on your eyes is neutral, I think a pop of a complementary pastel, neon, or super reflective shade, looks striking & beautiful. It's such a small space, so I find that eventhough it's still "color," it complements, rather than "talking over" whatever else you're wearing. The inner, lower lash-line is also a fun & unexpected place to put a pop of color. Of course, bonus points for a matching colorful eyeliner on the lower waterline...IMO, colorful eyeliner is the easiest & safest way to wear color.
If you're looking for inspiration, both Lauren Mae Beauty & Alicia Archer (@Kinky Sweat) wear colorful shades in such flattering & unexpected ways.
Some of these are real lovely i agree... But I am shocked that its this moment in time that some are coming out... I had a small brand and my friend and colleague was licenced to produce cosmetics so i worked with her and I had 18 different colours collections... The Zodiac one had yons of these multi-chromes, one of which had a colour shift including blue, red, purple, pink in one shade... We had holographic hybrids for nail art and do much more. That pallette by Kat Von D with the 3 prismatic/irradecent shades that everyone went mad over i sold at least 6 different ones in that vein for about 6 pounds each 😳😳 and they were bolder. X

Love this video. I agree about where the palette is made is hugely important. I am struggling to find the information online about where some palettes are manufactured. IMO that should be written clearly on the website so you know when purchasing.
This made me more intrigued by the Fool Fantasy palette because before I thought it was pretty boring. But this changed my mind

I used the Raspberry Kiss palette today and I should have used my fingers because the shimmers didn't show up that good, even after spraying it. It's still pretty though. Next time I'll try my fingers.

All shades in shadows and blushes that are made in Italy are always better quality. You just can’t beat an Indy brand shadow and I believe the SH shadows aren’t duochrome or at least not these

So, I only own one Too Faced eyeshadow palette, and it’s the Chocolate Gold one. One of their better OG’s, in my opinion. I looked on the back to see where it had been made. And it said bulk made in the USA, assembled in Dominican Republic. So there may be some discrepancies with your Too Faced formula theory. Or perhaps the bulk made ones have suffered since the time of the Chocolate Gold palette. Either way, it doesn’t really matter. I totally bought the Nightshade palette, and haven’t had any interest in Too Faced as a brand, much less their eyeshadow palettes, in a long time.

Indie eyeshadows are just the best. I rarely buy palettes from main stream brands anymore. All those brands better pray that indie don't get into complexion products lol
Regarding the Too Faced palettes - there's a CZcamsr I watch (just remembered it's Theresa is Dead!) 😅 who's theory is that the metal/tin pallets are better, and the cardboard packaged palettes are the crap ones. However, I don't own any Too Faced palettes, so I don't know if that checks out. 🤷♀️
