I switched from keyboard to Dual Sticks + Throttle a few weeks ago, and I'm curious. How do you use yours ? I use the right stick for pitch/yaw/roll and weapons, the left for strafing and decoupling/boost/chaff, and the throttle is mostly used for cruising, right now. But it doesn't feel that comfortable.

I also use this HOTAS set rather a HOSAS - I also fly sims like DCS after all. I did disable the twist and use the mini-stick for strafe up/down/left/right, and the throttle uses the cosmo-sim detents so it does forward and reverse thrust. I probably ought to use lighter springs in the grip base. One note about the mini-sticks on the stick and throttle: they are not hall sensor and subject to wearing out not unlike a PlayStation controller.

It translates well to DCS too I think. I use my trim hat for strafe up down left right, since it's kinda natural muscle memory from other sims anyway. And then the pinky paddle axis for thrusting back... I'm gonna do a more comprehensive video about my control setup I think

I've been eyeing off the 3D Connexion SpaceMouse Enterprise, it's made for CAD and 3D dev applications but after some digging in forums it sounds like it could be quite good in Star Citizen. I prefer HOTAS over HOSAS, myself, as well. I run a VKB setup with a Gladiator and a THQ throttle quadrant on the right, and the STECS mini-plus throttle on the left. I use the THQ throttle quadrant as a makeshift collective for when I want to fly my ships in hover-mode. I have one throttle mapped to thrust limiter and the other mapped to strafe up, so I just decouple, lower the thrust limiter, and use the strafe up throttle as a collective like you would a helicopter.

I am a HOTAS pilot and while ive considered a second stick in the past, I've actually come far closer to picking up a collective instead. The only reason I haven't is because my chair won't support Virpil's mounting system and it is not a cheap chair.

No money was payed...except hardware for over 700€.
That said i have a VPC HOSAS setup. The gimbals on these sticks are amazing. Considering the moving part shouldnt wear out like on other sticks with plastic "gimbals" (even expensive ones like the Warthog...that doesnt even have a gimbal at all) you get what you pay for.
But usually i use mouse and keyboard since i cant leave the setup at my desk because my cats would "eat" the cables.

    HOTAS over HOSAS for me.
It has a lot more versatility in other games too, even Farming Simulator. Their stick and throttle really are the best in industry and with Star Citizen being a game where you need all the buttons, knobs, and switches you can get - their HOTAS really cant be beat. Also, Virpil organically pushes its products unlike VKB that goes to dirty tactics of filling comment sections, subreddits, etc with shill information.
And last but not least, Virpil is made in Europe! Not China! That in itself should be a big W

Decoupled mode may be challenging at first if your not the best pilot but after some practice its so much nicer than coupled mode and you have way more control over your ship and you will move much more fluidly.

I am curious, how difficult is it to adjust to a HOTAS/HOSAS setup when you never used one before? While mouse and keyboard with gameglass on the ipad pro as a MFD is mostly fine for my industrial focus and pve combat, I am certainly interested in such a setup once the game reaches 4.0 and (hopefully) becomes a lot more stable and a throttle or stick with granular control could even double as a mining laser throttle, but it's still a big investment if you want something decent. Dualstick with one omni-throttle adapter may be a good middleground between both types of setups if one can't really decide between one or the other.

I’ve come to like the VKB stick and Omni throttle. With the ability to pull the center spring out you can truly have the feeling of a hotas throttle without losing any of the finite movement of the hosas. It’s really cool. It’s just like having both at the same time.

If you're going to accept sponsorships, be sure to be clear to your audience as to whether your opinions are your own or have been directed by the company. Only reason I mention this is that others have had this bite them in the ass, and I'd rather not see that happen to you. Nicely done, overall, and glad to see you got some new toys to play with. :)
