Isuzu NPS 4x4 - Why you should tune your truck on a dyno

- This time, we roll the Isuzu onto the roller dyno and show you how we are able to achieve such an insane difference in driveability just from tuning!
How anybody lives with the performance of the 4HK1 Isuzu trucks (NPS, NPR etc..) is beyond us. A simple tune transforms the way the trucks drive.
Watch us demonstrate the difference in performance on our roller dyno with our development NPS. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Mine had a huge difference after the first service
Thats good. We have tested heaps of them before and after and am yet to see any difference outside of margin for error.
Great stuff guys, loving the real world numbers. Are you planning on any further performance mods, intercooler/exhaust etc?
Thanks! Yes definitely. We have exhaust, turbo, intercooler, gauge / pillar pod all coming
Awesome, cant wait to see it!@@staytuned9176
if your going to pimp the engine with mods, what would you do? also would you add a high volume oil pump and change the oil pan so it hold more with a baffle in the pan. also are you going to tweek the drive line or rear end gears.
There are some mods coming, so keep an eye out. We have seen no reason to suggest a high volume oil pump is needed.
Hi mate I’m having mine tuned shortly just wondering who’s tune you used and if there was any options?
It's custom Tuned by us. That's what we do
How does the tune effect low range performance? Isuzu limit the torque in reverse and low range (assuming to protect the drive line). Does your tune take that into account?
Tossing up between the NPS and the Hino 817. Ive owned both brands of on-road trucks in the past so no really brand loyal as both have been great.
Have you guys had a go at tuning the Hino?
We have tuning packages coming for the HINO! The torque limiters are still active in reverse and low range, albeit a fair bit higher than stock.
Hey guys, I’m curious about warranty issues with it tuned? The salesman I chatted to while test driving one said Isuzu won’t cover them.
The manufacturer has to prove that a modification caused a failure. A tune doesn't void your warranty unless a failure is directly attributed to it. In which case, we would help. However it goes without saying that some risk is always involved when modifying vehicles.
The engine a 4 or 6 cyclinder and how much does it cost to do the tune you did. I'm looking at retiring soon and I already own a 2013 D-max which I really like but these trucks really appeal to me so looking at setting one up for full time touring. Cheers really appreciate onest numbers
Hey mate, they are the 4HK1 which is a 5.2 4 cylinder. Kind of like a big 4JJ1 which is what is in your Dmax.
Interesting, very interesting. Regarding fuel consumption and 37" tyres, once you change the wheel diameter the onboard live fuel consumption readout is false; which is to be expected. Are you able to change the settings on live fuel consumption to be accurate with 37" tyres? For instance, my readout hovers a lot around 15.5 l/100 to 15.7 l/100 when in fact the real consumption is 18.2 l/100 to 18.6 l/100.
Is your speedo accurate?
@@staytuned9176 The speedometer is dead accurate, the fuel consumption readout is still working on the OEM wheel size (we're running 37" wheels). Check your truck, you'll notice the difference between displayed and actual. You need to reset the second trip meter readout when you refuel to get the constant variable readout.
@allanhugh2044 I'm well aware how to reset the trip consumption using trip B. Ours is consistently within 0.5 - 1l per 100km
@@staytuned9176 That's great for you, two other NPS truck owners I personally know running 37" tyres have the same erroneous live fuel consumption readout as ours.
@allanhugh2044 yeah OK, that's why it's always good to check.
Any further information on the tune file for South Africa?
Yes, we have our late gen truck tuning files sorted for remote delivery. Send us a PM on our Facebook pages and we can discuss
Hi, Im based in Auckland and have the NPS450 (everything is stock). Can you send me over a modified ECU or do you only tune local vehicles. cheers
Hi Troy, we can tune trucks anywhere in the world. Send us a message on our Facebook page we can help. facebook.com/staytuned14.7
Can you remote tune the older 4p10?
Where are you located?
I had my nps map tuned and a noise came into the turbo after 15,000 kms after the tune I took it to Isuzu and they would not warrant it because of the map tune so I’m up for a new turbo
Have you spoken to the tuner? We have never had a failure in God knows how many NPS tunes
Can the turbo be upgraded?
Absolutely. We have an upgrade in the works
Yewwwww look forward to it to seeing the gains
@@paulgalpin6740 we can't wait either 🤣
What engine is in it? I really don't want to know and I can carry on kidding myself it's a 4JJ1
Close! It's bigger brother 4HK1
Was watching a popular CZcamsr who travels in his NPS. Blew his motor and no warranty as it was tuned. Transmission went a little while later and no warranty
@kromey111 yes we saw the same video. They definitely should have pushed that issue a bit more.
@@staytuned9176 I agree as Isuzu have to prove it’s the tunes fault
@@staytuned9176 then again. Can they handle double the power and triple the torque
@kromey111 we have Tuned literally hundreds of these now and yet to have any mechanical failure what so ever. Remember, Isuzu themselves send this engine combo out the door in bigger trucks at 70% more than these from factory
@@staytuned9176 depends if the owners report back to the tuner with any issues. Reckon that CZcamsr went back to tuner ?
mic and a tripod good god.
Thanks for the feedback. It's on the list
