Many 1969 Dodge Chargers were in the Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, Georgia parking lots. I had returned from the Republic of Vietnam and the troops decided that was the car of choice.
Thanks for posting. Wowfreak, I was in the Dodge showroom in 1969 looking at the new Chargers when I was 14. The green base model on the floor was 3,050.00 at the time. Today I have a 69 R/T and 45,000.00 invested in it. I love it though.
Three grand for the year as an E-5 (Sgt) was about what one made in the Republic of Vietnam. Our parking lot was full of them at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia.
Got a 69 in 3/73 at age 18 with remaining warranty. When I test-drove and floored-it, it scared the shit out of me....I bought it! Then traded for a 74 Cuda.....long story, I bought another 69 in 1985 and will never let go again, it is the best looking muscle car...period!
I've become convinced Dodge has a vendetta against the arts and sciences. First, Dodge Fever destroys priceless dinosaur fossils, now it's destroying what looks like a tribute to Rodin's "The Thinker." I can only assume the staff at the Rodin Gardens in Paris saw this commercial and took the necessary steps to protect the original statue against Dodge Fever and Dodge's ignorant vendetta against history, science, and the arts.
They would be admitting that the styling changes of the past 40 years have generally been detrimental. Then there are the feds, who like to mandate standards (e.g., bumpers) that result in butt-ugly cars.
Gran's Stuff They are designed the way now for a reason for Aerodynamics for better gas mileage and Safety and the government mandated 5 miles an hour bumpers Emissions EPA reasons and just to save cost although The Challenger never changed its looks besides post 1974.
Love the Charger and the cute outfit the model is wearing. They really wore some great clothes back then.
Bought my 69 charger in 1988 when I was seventeen years old, and in 2022 I still own it.
Make it the general
love the go-go boots & 440 mag
The kind of America that is lost forever is what I see.
Why should it be?
You are right, America has really gone downhill since!
I want that America back!
I'd settle for 1984 again, K-Cars and all.
@@jacktheripoff1888 The cars were horrible. I had one as my first car. Music and life was better tho.
Just makes me think how people back then actually viewed the '69 Charger compared to how it's viewed today.
Back when General Lee was just a guy in the history books.
Yes sirr
I hope I'm not the only one who noticed that the song played at 0:15 is an instrumental version of "Do you know the way to San Jose"
excellent : )
I'm gonna look it up

Even back in '69 the SE (Special Edition) was the more luxurious Charger model available.

Very nostalgic
Joan Parker
I like her!
I wonder if there are any contemporary actresses who could play her. For some reason I keep thinking of Sarah Hyland, but her eyes are way too big.

recall wheels!
Is that Jamie Farr? (Cpl Klinger from M*A*S*H?)
Looks more like Barbi Benton to me. :-)
I WSIHD ID HAD 4 CHARGERS 2 RED ONES AND 2 GREEN ONES AND ONE YELLOW
V8 Engines are rarely even mentioned in commercials now. Probably because they don't want to offend the Eco Nut Jobs.
Yeah it's all a big load of shit too!
Wondering if that was a 318 car.
Slant Six. ;-)
The Charger in the film is wearing the “Recall wheels” which were an option but later recalled by Chrysler because they cracked.
Sounds like mopar
Dodge is turning up the (covid 1984) fever now 🎶
Too bad Chrysler is owned by the biggest loser now, Fiat!
