Hey, Kylted makes a good point about the names at 1:40. Since the devs won't do it, wouldn't it be a good idea to put their names on-screen using your overlay? Maybe right above or below their icons?

If you want to use player names instead of colors then you NEED to include their names next to their avatars in some sort of overlay.
That's how it used to be. This change should be reversed

Regarding including player names in the UI/HUD: couldn't that be solved by a mod, by download via the steam workshop? Or is that game modification considered as unfair cheating?
I think it would just require them to roll back the change to the way it used to be.

Names instead of colors is not a good idea. Most of us watch for risk content and to follow your thoughts Pete, thatswhy we tune in. Only a very small minority would be so dedicated to remember or care for the names of the opponents, especially if they are not even on display. And even if they were colors would be a better reference.
Yep. The fact that the devs took away the name of the player front and center in the bottom of the screen was a miss for competitions and Risk TV as a whole.
