    OMG, Thank you so much. Black in this video is me. I just started risk because of your videos - everything I know is from you. What a honor to play against you - and yeah you are right I had crazy good dice at the end. Pete please keep up the good work - i really like your videos.

      I disagree, at those levels the fact you are attacking with 3 vs defending with 2 should give you a good win as 'luck' is taken out esp in balanced blitz. I wouldn't go in 'assuming' I'd get that kind of roll, but I'd 'expect' something similar.

    Rather than declining the alliance it's probably better to keep the invitation hanging and then accept it whenever you want to communicate. I have seen players do that a lot lately. Also if you do this..the other person doesn't know that you don't want the alliance or rather you might have simply missed it. Clicking the decline positively sends the wrong message that you want to send (or not send). Or should I say negatively.

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah the decline is always the weirdest. I still think no accepting is a negative but at least accepting at an opportune time sends some kind of message. Which is the point

    I literally just went halves with a player on another player and my decision was based solely on the player we attacked not accepting my alliance request.

    Hey Pete! Started watching the channel a few weeks ago even though I wasn't a player (sometimes the algorithm works!), and after very quickly digesting many hours of your content, I've started playing in earnest and have done pretty well! Looking forward to being a regular viewer for a long time. Thanks for getting me invested in the game and this awesome community!

    Hi Pete I hope this doesn’t get too long; I’ve been watching your channel for a year now binging as much as possible, I want to say that you have given me something to look forward to no matter how big or small a video per day may seem
    I have been struggling in my fight against depression and addiction and your videos have been Immeasurably helpful
    Today I am failing and I am breaking down
    I don’t ask you for the final answer or the perfect wisdom but simply any words that I can carry with me to find some semblance of faith or strength

      You already know what you need to do brother.
      You do not suffer from a lack of knowledge. Just be honest with yourself about that. You don't have to do it all today. Just take one small step towards light and love and that is more than good enough.

      I recently got master ranking too but I lost it again. There is a lot of luck involved here that can make you lose or gain a lot of elo. I once wacked a single stacking grandmaster out of the game to progress the game and got second and I gained elo but for some reason my elo dropped again (did they report for collaboration?) Anther time I got second place to a beginner but I still lost elo that made me so mad. Also getting noobslammed sucks.

    Pete... I've been watching your videos for ages, and they have helped me improve my game and my ranking. I was recently on the cusp of hitting GM level, and then had a row of games where I got slammed early on and dropped huge points. Any chance you've got a video on what to do when you have a terrible start? i.e. Get hit, bad dice, bad cards in the first three rounds... Is there a way to survive that kind of bad luck?

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Před 3 měsíci

      The best thing you can do is not quit. There are so many quitters in the game that there's always a chance and practicing how to come back from a losing position is a valuable skillset.

      @@TheKillPeteStrategy Thanks for this. I think you're right - It's just very frustrating when you end up 4-5 troops below other players by rounds three, and if you don't have a set, you're basically screwed.

    Maybe people don't accept the alliances because they find the communications annoying or distracting. You can say that they can give you an edge but if you find you're not getting an edge from using them maybe you would stop...?

    • @TheKillPeteStrategy
      @TheKillPeteStrategy  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I don't know if I make the point in this video but sometimes it's less about using the communication and more about having the option to that makes the difference between working with one person vs another.

    • @richwilliams1863
      @richwilliams1863 Před 3 měsíci

      @@TheKillPeteStrategySorry, I'll try and be more precise about what I mean. You are seeing the advantage of opening the alliance because it gives you the opportunity to communicate with your opponent, but this is not the only thing it opens up. It also gives your opponent an advantage: the opportunity to communicate with YOU. Therefore it gives the player a dilemma and asks how they rate their ability to leverage this advantage vs the advantage they are giving to an unknown opponent to do the same.
      There are also other ways to negotiate in the game: troop placement, where you take your cards, arrowing in to attack a territory then declining to make that attack; so a game where you don't accept the alliance is not a game where you remove your ability to negotiate entirely. These other signals provide a means to negotiate to a certain, limited extent (the emojis are also limited). Also, as I mentioned before it is also possible that people just find the emojis annoying. I don't think it makes a player bad at the game in general if they don't use this function, but you can probably say with a degree of certainty that it means they do not rate their own ability to use this function better than the average opponent.

    Hey Pete, thank you for all your videos. I'm about to make a move that might seem like a rookie's suicide mission against your capital, but please know that this comment is entirely sincere.
    I discovered your channel yesterday after playing a few games of Risk and wanting to enhance my skills. The first video I watched was from a year ago. Your expertise as both a teacher and a player was so evident that I ended up watching many of your videos, right up to the most recent one. You appeared very fit and healthy in the video from a year ago, yet you seemed even happier and more fulfilled in the latest video. My only hope is that you've calculated the expected value of this change. Considering that it only takes 15 minutes a day to maintain good health, which could potentially add more than ten years to your life, it truly is a strategic long-term play. It seems you've exchanged early-game strength for long-term benefits. I sincerely hope this choice was made from a strategic perspective, and if I'm mistaken, feel free to rebut my move with a double-strength force at my border. If that's the case, I will gladly concede, acknowledging that I intentionally overstepped to test the balance of your strategy.
    With all due respect, Eddie

      I think the diagnosis of chronic fatfuckitis is overdue. It's understandable that going from a physical labour job to playing and making content full time will have effects on the body.
      It is my hope that the condition is not fatal but it may be so.
