@@TheKillPeteStrategy I'd like the larger of 3 turns or 3 minutes (limit scumbaggery, but doesn't allow for an all quick play to round someone out without a reasonable time to reconnect)
@@TheKillPeteStrategy I think it should be low. 3 turns and you're out. And I say that as someone that has experienced connection loss and lost games because I couldn't get back in time. Losing games b/c of it would suck, but I'd rather deal with the rare loss to a bad connection than the not so rare scumbag bot-out strat in fixed games.

I reached master casually playing random maps mostly classic bcoz I like classic just because of your videos . I like how you explain the plays you make in your games and all of the psychological things you do , manipulating people into giving you the win or a higher placement. I'm also good at human psychology naturally so it was easy to pick it up for me. Thank you so much pete 👍.
Diplomatic skill is huge in the game. That's the fun part for me as well

I don't completely copy your gameplay , I play aggressively sometimes after calculating the situation , but still I think 'what would Pete do in this situation' alot of times .

I'm curious as to the reasoning for killling green on 2 cards with 52 troops, after he showed an inclination to fight black (as well as you,) when you declined to kill him on 4 cards with 42 troops the turn before?
He was probably tilted out of his mind in the moment.
@@desyncer Yeah, that makes the most sense. I was mostly wondering if he had some reason to expect good to perfect cooperation that I wasn't seeing.
Two schools of thought:
Scumbag cheats don't get to play. Letting the scumbag cheater help me win makes me feel like I am cheating myself.
Green cheated, came back, then broke Pete. A cheater coming back to see they're losing, then break my bonuses, even if they broke black, is probably just tilted that the scumbag bot strat didn't work. So they should be punished and shown the scumbag bot strat doesn't work.

I have a feeling they had a poor connection, judging from how passive they were to begin with and how slow they were just before they botted. I do agree that this needs to be fixed, but in this instance I wouldn't say green was a scumbag.

Why not just card block and out-bonus him at 44:00?
he didn't have the troops to card block, plus card blocking in fixed isn't as important as holding more bonuses and territories
He was using a 70 stack so he had plenty of troops to block 3 points - that’s literally how you hold more bonuses/territories. One or more rounds of bonuses levels it up and he can roll any stack that gets moved to the front. I beg to differ
@@Josh-tb9yq purple was going to get 13 troops at the very least. The lowest amount of points Pete could block him on was 3. After retaking all the territories Pete was left with around 50 at best and this is assuming no troops on cap. All it takes is a lucky roll or a set from purple and he breaks through the block, steals the cap and then leaves a 90 stack there.
Worst case scenario you can use the other cap to block a point. It was possible, it was plausible, but not much point arguing over it. His play was fine, but it’s not what I would’ve done as GM. Just curious to his thinking and I’m sure he doesn’t need you to defend him.

Do ppl actually care about the leaderboard? We've already established that the rank system is broken and therefore meaningless right?
If you think of GM as about halfway between novice and a top player, but the skill acquisition curve is logarithmic I think the ranking system gets us about half of the way. So it isn't totally meaningless but yeah, meaningless at the top.
As far as what people care about, one of the value propositions of the show is showing people how to get better at the game and if the only pseudo objective measure of that progress is the ranking system then we do have to pay some amount of attention to it.
I do get what the show is about and I've definitely learnt a lot from watching but I kinda gave up on the rank grind a while ago. Mainly because of too many shit games with collabs or cheating and I've found myself playing less often. It's almost a coin flip whether you get a proper game in ranked or not.
@@hadleigh01 Yeah, perhaps SMG should take heed. But that leaves me torn between finding a compelling show to make a narrative around and promoting the ranking system which is essentially a massive lie.
Yea, tough sitch. I guess I'm kinda hoping someone at SMG is following and sees what their players are experiencing. It's such an awesome game but it's almost as if all the hard work you guys are putting in to promote it and grow the player base is in vain if they don't fix some fundamental flaws.
