I think the mother acted reasonably, it's a grown man that approached a child and just gave him not only a bullet, but a bullet that's obviously worth some money.. no man should feel comfortable coming up to a child like that..(if some man approached my little sister at that age I would think something was wrong with them too) but once she established that he wasn't a threat she came back and apologized. I feel she acted very maturely in that situation.

Don’t shame the mother for being the way she is -
1. She is protective of her children, she doesn’t want them exploited for views, which is completely fair, and NYC is full of disgusting behavior so she has to make sure their faces won’t end up somewhere vile and in some viral controversial video…
2. She is justified in participating after a passerby confirmed this was a legitimate offer and not a scam or something… she didn’t think twice to say “give it to him” (to the child) when offered cash, so that’s a sign she isn’t what most here say she is… judging by her vocabulary and way of handling herself, it’s fairly safe to approximate she may have come from a rougher upbringing, clearly not a private school of rich kids, probably had to fight her way out of a bad situation more than once, and maybe even raise two kids alone in a city under hardship conditions… People who come from rougher backgrounds have trust issues because they have had to survive in a world where trust will get you backwards, let alone nowhere.
4. She apologized and was nice once she had a moment to cool down and assess the situation. Having realized she is not being taken advantage of, she had no problem participating and even came off friendly.
We are products of our root realities… People who came from a certain environment don’t care about being your little buddy and giving you a fake smile while getting screwed over.
That mentality and behavior does not tend to be the case for wealthy individuals within families in suburbs. Being “nice” and not swearing in public or in front of kids and being trusting of strangers is a product of our roots. Having to fight for oneself in a dog eat dog environment takes grit and that grit stays with you long after you get to better places.

I dont think this situation was a "don't judge a book by its cover" situation. This kid is growing up in the city. I don't know where you grow up, but it's not an unhealthy thing to teach kids to be weary about not only strangers approaching them, but someone approaching you and offering you something for free.
Especially since in NYC, LA, ATL, etc, people will offer you something seemingly for free, and then demand money. At the end of the day, 9/10 people offering you something for free in the city is a sketch situation, regardless if all of the giveaway videos make you feel otherwise.
