- I like picking wafer locks, they are relatively easy to pick and rake and there are lots of them around to practise on (make sure they are yours and not in use!). In this video, I'll take you through lots of different tools and picks that can be used to get into wafer locks and some tips too.
Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use!

Always wondered what those weird picks in my goso set were for, never seen anyone explain them before. Thanks Ash
My pleasure :-)
@@LockNoob I'm regretting throwing that set out now...

after locking myself out multiple times at my apartment, I decided to get this set. I know next to nothing about picking but I'm surprised how easy it is. and this was really informative. I had no clue what these were. so far my go to pick is one of the small feeler picks. now I know when I get a car I won't be completely screwed when I lock myself out. thanks man. I learned something thanks to you. keep it up.
Thank you :-)
don't care what anybody says that is actually a good set and it works on a variety of cars
I agree :-)
Electric locks cars
Had it for awhile now. Love it
I agree
I have a wafer lock on my medicine cabinet in the kitchen.I got the cut out emergency survival picks and none could pick it!I fashioned a pick from a carpenters tool and it manages to grab the back spring and it pulls the barrel out.If I can put a video on here I will show you.
I have started making my own picks which are very rough for my first attempts but they work very well.I have opened a 5 pin padaock with one, and a small suitable padalock which was much harder to open!It had only one pin , a spool pin and this little lock gave me the most trouble! Lol
Steven McGinty well done with the picking :-) and making your own tools is really great :-)
Didn't realize the pick top-leftmost ("wide or hollowed half diamond") is a wafer pick and I've had one this whole time! My boss is wanting me to get him into an old junker van here on the farm and I think I'll give it a try!
Well did it work?
@@alanbanh I'm curious too
He was arrested for attempted grand theft auto.
Thank you. That helped me a lot with my lost keys situation.
If you lose your key 🔑
You will lose the pickles to 🥸😊😊😊😊
Thank you for your knowledge. It helped me tremendously!
Thanks 😊
Hey Lock Noob is David from NZ. I love your channel and informative way that you take time to explain locksport is very appreciated. I have trouble getting lock pick sets in NZ because public bying of them is different due to restrictions even though for me is only for fun. If you have any small sets that you are finished with could you please send them to me? I will pay for p&p. At moment I am resorted to making my own out of window wipers and depth gauges ground down.
I pick auto locks with wedges, airbags and a series of rods. A cheap set I've put to good use. Slim Jim's dont last long but their cheap and I dont use them that often. I have a set of lock picks back home, I intend to learn picking wafer locks as soon as possible. I believe I'll need several new tools, but the knowledge is worth more. That's for vid.
Thank you for the explanation. That GOSO was the first set I bought...
Is it a good set ?
@@bp4542 It works fine, a bit cheap on the durability and finish, and the picks are a bit thick, but fo a starter set on the thrifty side, they work.
Nice vid ash, thank you. I find wafer locks a pig to deal with so, nice one mate.
Thanks :-)
Got my SUB, good video explanation, as I am wanting to get into locksmith field...
Well, I guess that "I" see it as a wafer pick as it was with the other car/wafer picks in the GOSO set, but really I guess it's just a "pick" and what you use it in is up to the picker. I have seen 'single peak' bogata picks with the same profile... Maybe that's what it is?
Great video sir! Now I know what half of my kit is for lol. Liked and subscribed.
Awesome, thanks :-)
Headless snowmen pick should be called snowball pick
I like it :-)
I have the exact same set that you have
Cool!
This is probably the 17th time I've watched this video!
Lol, thanks dude. I can’t stand watching these early vids, cringe!
I think this is the fourth time i've read this comment..
18th time
Great vid, you sound more confident, trying to go through all your vids 👍
These old videos are horribly cringe 😬😬😬
@@LockNoob Everyone has to start somewhere, remember this is where the journey began, still a great vid, 👌
👍🖖👍👍👍👍👍excellent thanks for your information 😁😁😁
Thanks
I was going to get that set but I decided that I wanted a different one
What did you get?
Sadly I got a crappy 1 from Amazon I believe it actually was a goso but it snapped and was very bendy plus some of the bits didn’t fit in the handle but 1 yr later I’m getting that set lol
You have the same picks I have. Did they come in a leather case with 2 zippers right?
Yes, that's right. The GOSO 24 piece kit :-)
I have the same set
Yes
heyyyyy
Mine did
I have this set too! :)
If you look at a wafer lock key it has teeth on both sides so I assume normal one sided rakes won't work? Looks like you need the double sided tensioner along with a double sided rake to open them. Or can they be opened with a one sided rake if you put 2x rakes in there at the same time?
Did your Goso kit not come with the wavy dimple pick?
Oh, it did. But I've not ever seen or heard anyone using one! I think it's in the bin now...
I'm completely new to lock picking and it seems like dimple locks are pretty rare.
Not as rare as they used to be. They are used a lot commercially in high end security locks (e.g. Mul T Lock) and companies like Yale are offering dimple locks with sliders up as high security locks in places like B&Q now. Personally, I don't have much experience with them, but I intend to practice on some of the ones I have soon. The dimple rakes in this GOSO kit have limited applications, but there are some Chinese dimple locks I own that can be raked using them.
@@shadowprince4482 They are quite common in Europe.
Could you please provide a link to your tools when you show us, or good sets worth buying for a good price. Thanks
I buyed this kit. Are they good for single pin picking? I really wanted a different kit but i cant ship it to Brasil. Thx
It’s an OK kit, but there are better out there if you can get them :-)
I have the exact set just like yours, and my favorite pick from the set was the wave rack that looks like saw. My only disappointment about the set was the quality of metal used in making the picks. Its breaks very easy, and is not is durable.
Yes, it’s not great metal :-)
Not the best metal but maybe take it easy on it and not be rough? It's a decent set actually and worth trying to gain finesse with
Thanks
Last time I used a Screw Driver Vice grip and hammer . The Lock is well F***ed now .
Having trouble with my dr200 gas cap 😂😂😭😭
What lock picking set for a beginner would you recommend?
Swash I would say that the Southord C2010 is the best all -rounder, but if you have the money, go for a Sparrows hook and rake set (there are a few to chooses from) with thermal handles as they are very strong and will put up with some noob over-eagerness
Michael try a multi pick jackknife or one the one I'm buying at this link below www.ukbumpkeys.com/collections/lock-pick-sets/products/5pc-h-h-jacknife-pick-set for £15
at the moment im having a bit of trouble with waffer locks, cabnets and everything else is not giving me trouble but the ten waffer lock on the sparrows gridlock set is killing me :)
I have the gridlock, but I have not had time to play with it yet. People say the 10 wafer is tough :-)
My dad and I practice lock picking for fun and my dad brought home our first double sided lock and we don't have the right damn tension wrench! It's got a little weird cover on the outside of it's that's a weird shape to keep us out of it. Our 2 sided tension wrench could definitely work if the cover wasn't there. We've got a challenge!
Kate Herreid that's where the fun is :-) keep at it and good luck :-)
i sustained a brain injury and was looking into lock picking to help with my cognitive abilities. where is the best place to get a VERY basic lock picking set? or can i make it?
I know this is a year old, but sparrows makes really good affordable starting kits. Or you can try to make some windshield wiper inserts, best way to harvest wiper blades is to go to an autoparts store during a big rain storm lol.
@@Hobbyhoarderguy i appreciate your response however I got myself a Lokko basic lock picking kit with clear plastic lock. Managed to be able to pick the practice lock with my eyes closed but still can't even pick a basic suitcase lock
@@Hobbyhoarderguy oh, Im druiwe100, but forgot my account password
@@Druiwe It's hard to say what the problem is, but the plastic clear lock is just for you see to where the pins meet the shear line of the cylinder. The idea is to get a feel for picking locks. Take a cheap master lock no1. Tension it with a suitable tensioner try not to add too much torque. Its a cheap low security 4 pin lock, so just make a mental note of which pins are binding with your short hook pick. You can tell it's binding just how hard it is to pry up. Pick that one, just bring it up enough to give you a satisfying "click" on your tensioner, and then move on to the next one, and so forth until all the pins are picked. I started building a cheap padlock collection to keep practicing. Lockpicking is just one of the skills where you got to hone.
@@Hobbyhoarderguy thanks for the advice. I will give that a try. I can also seem to pick big locks but basic suitcase locks are more of a challenge to me
What does the I deer mean. He kept saying the I deer is this or that. I wonder if he means the idea is this or that. Just kidding. Great video. Thanks for the 411. 411 means information for my friends across the pond.
No problem :-)
Waffle locks
Mmmmm waffles 🧇
I have the SAME set
Cool!
@@LockNoob since we're twining like CRAZY, imma sub😉
The one all the way to the left I th thumbnail I use for brinkks locks
Cool :-)
Hi Lock Noob, i Like your video about GOso Lock Pick. I Think their lock pick is useful but the quality of material is very bad. I really Like GOSO "small half diamond" because can help me to lock pick dimple lock. But I Want to search lock pick with good quality material, do you have recomended lock pick for that? i really appreciate your opinion as you expert in this sport lock.
I like Honest Dong Shi dimple picks as long as you don’t mind finishing them off yourself?
👍 👍 👍
👍👍👍
Table sliding NO!
I want to open the hard lock
love it thx
I think i like some of the weird comments as much as the video 🤔
Me too :-)
Yeah I would assume the reason we would see double sided Automotive ignition keys and the key cylinder is only a 1 sided wafer lock is that car keys Rarely care which way you put the key in. Maybe you never put any mind to it, i know I hadn't..... But pull it back out next time, flip it over and the car will still start.
Video muito bom!! Parabens Amigo, ja me inscrevi!! Abraço do Brasil!! SP
Antônio Cassanho thank you :-) and hugs from the UK!
Hello.....
I am the lock noob
HI!
wafers without sidebar are super easy but you still couldn't do them on a glass case in a store without getting caught because time and human dynamics.. I've done sidebars double wafer on cars with a hair pin in minutes before. I was always curious if the double side picks actually made it easier.
I have the same lockpicks and the main one I use has bent how to I fix it with out it making it harder to pick locks
You risk snapping the pick by bending it back into shape, so go carefully. Ultimately, picks are a temporary and expendable tool which which you will have to replace at some point. Single picks by Sparrows and Southord are good value :-)
I'm in Canada where would be a trusted site to buy wafer picks I just got ripped off on a site and am looking for a trusted site
keith fallis Sparrows is in Canada.
www.sparrowslockpicks.com/category_s/80.htm
Thank you very much
Glad to be of help. Watch out. This sport can be addictive. I've spent over 300 dollars on stuff from Sparrows this year, and they keep adding great new stuff. 😂
Yes sparrows is the way 2 go but i buy mine thru pickpals here Australia but there sparrow products good quality great service advice
Sparrows stuff is made in china i found out and sometimes needs alittle finnishing
Why shouldnt we pick our locks that are in use? I mean, they are ours... will we damage them?
yes, you could. there are a number of reasons how which will feature in another video :-)
@@LockNoob Nice, thanks for the reply!
stop saying it was cheap, i had to pay 130 bucks for the same pick set in my country
it is cheap dude its not worth more than 15 bucks. if you actually paid 130 you got seriously ripped off
@@user-bh9nm4dn8x in my country it is one of the very best avaliable, i even bought it online
Ouch! That’s so expensive! Sorry to hear that
Love you videos but this one I could barely hear you
I think back then I was just using my iPad mic 😬
Can you help me and send me these strange gadgets
hassane hassane czcams.com/video/DSD8tNN89Kc/video.html
Snowman? Did you just assume that picks gender??? 🤣🤣🤣
I’m a terrible human :-)
Gosos are horrid bendable breakable be nice to see demos on all the jibber you go threw. Talking an doing are much diffrent
This is my 5th video right at the beginning of my picking journey- it’s fun to look back and see how I’ve progressed. Do you make vids yourself?
You speak too much
You clearly write too much...
COMING SOON!! Silent lock picking videos. Explanations of the type of lock? GONE!! Discussing pick choices and options ADIOS!! Talking through a gutted lock and how different pins react to picking? NO MORE!! Sit back and relax and just watch a lock get picked in absolute silence!
COMING SOON...3 second videos that show a still of a lock closed. A still of a pick and final still of a lock opened. If you can’t learn from that, what CAN you learn from!?!?! I remember how well I learned from that mute drama teacher. The plays were soooo much easier without having to learn any lines....
Do the job you are talkin to much
Isn’t this video like 5 years old lol
