‘Night Market Neighbours’ is a series from the CBC Creator Network that features a variety of food vendors from the Richmond Night Market.
Lai Wah (Winly) Yee has been running Po Wah Dim Sum at the Richmond Night Market for over 20 years. Now in her mid-60s, she works at the bustling night market every summer because she loves it and she claims that it keeps her young. Her food vendor stall serves mouthwatering Hong Kong dim sum classics like curry fishballs, pork siu mai, rice rolls and more.
Her daughter, Christine McLean, has now followed in her footsteps by starting her own food business selling frozen gluten free dumplings. Her business, House of Yee Fine Foods, borrows the name from her late grandparent’s old restaurant in Regina, Saskatchewan, which served Canadian-Chinese classics. Needless to say, food has been in their family’s blood for generations.
