A lot.of 2d sonic cartoons had trouble with animating sonic quills since they always draw 3 and on the side which costed some issues like in aosth sonic quills when looking at the fron look like a moonhawk or in sonic x where sonic's quills are always drawn by the side and when he is facing backward he looks ugly

@@daelin7606 They were funded by Sega Sammy and their Sonic Team subsidiary. Sonic fan game creators can't even get funding for their game unless Sega give them permission to, it is their intellectual property after all.

I gotta appreciate how this animation deconstructs the idea of how classic Sonic would react to the modern age.
In the end, it's difficult to pinpoint what exactly caused the Sonic games to take a nosedive in quality. And as suckish as Sonic's current state is, it could've been MUCH worse.

@Paul Nicodemus Now that we're in the future and now how bad of an unfinished mess Origins was, I still feel Sonic is going a bit downhill. I have decent hopes for Sonic Frontiers as it seems like it could possibly be good. The last successful, good, game we've had is Mania and that is now 3, 4 or 5 years old. Right after that, Forces became a thing along with SEGA rushing Origins, it feels like the games are doing pretty bad right now so SEGA needs Frontiers to be successful. The movies were excellent so Sonic does have that going for him so I can definitely say that's something good we've recently gotten. Sonic games as of now I'd say are a bit below the expectation as of right now.
Sonic Boom became known as one of the better Sonic adaptations. Think about that. Everyone here has lived long enough to see a change in "solid" opinion based on the generation(s) after theirs.

i like how some of the Sonics are animated slightly differently. Like how freemium Sonic looks like he was cheaply tweened and how classic Sonic slightly more like he was animated on a hand-painted cells.

Coming back to this after these years and i just realized the attention to detail with character animation, like how classic sonic is all grainy while boom sonic is sharp and clean, the 3d sonic of course, the mobile game sonic being a simple rig as opposed to being hand drawn like the rest and more. Say what you will about the video, but thats some grade A effort!

Whoever did classic sonic's voice did it spot on. It really nails the cool factor he was going for back then since he was aimed toward teens.
To be honest, when I first heard Sanic's voice in that video, I thought he sounded a bit like Secret History Tails but he's not voiced by the same guy, obviously.

Isn't Mania Sonic basically identical to Pre-1998 Sonic? A better example would be Sonic Adventure 2 or Generations Sonic since they're both liked by a large majority of people (despite the fact that many have turned on SA2 for some reason).

@@BlooperStupid Technically Mania Sonic is from another dimension that is time displaced, similar to how the New 52 Justice League are younger that the Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths Justice League from DC Comics. So basically in Sonic Mania's dimension the events of every game after Knuckles Chaotix never happened except for when Mania Sonic went to the main dimension in Sonic Forces.

Seeing Sonic nowadays, it's a mixed bag of good and bad, I will admit. The classic games introduced us to what was in store for our Blue Blur; the 3D games, some were ok, like 3D Blast, some big 3D games like Adventure 1 & 2 made an impact, each 3D game added new gameplay elements to go along with the main thing with Sonic: speed; the handheld games like the Advance and Rush Trilogies did its' own justice; and the games that everyone belittles on, that being Sonic: Genesis, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic '06, and Sonic Boom. And I can see why we entered 'the dark age of Sonic the Hedgehog' during the last few years.
Sure, most of us considered them very bad games, but some of us also considered them guilty pleasures at that. We can blame SEGA all we want for the bad games we got: but they really tried. They tried to make the games enjoyable for all of us to play. Especially during the 15th Anniversary with Sonic '06. They really wanted to make sure that Sonic entering the next-gen of gaming with a sonic boom. But even then, there are some problems we can't figure out so we have to buck it up and go with it.
And with the release of Sonic Mania, it was a reminder of what the classic Sonic games were all about. And don't you forget about that. I'm placing my hope for Sonic Forces as it will do the same for both Classic and Modern, like it did with Generations.

With Mania as the springboard and the potential Forces is running, Sonic is on the fast track for the greatest videogame comeback in history.
