Patterns and concepts are repeated until it gained its own rules, and Starscream has never been so vulnerable before! He can't help being so sexy, and he's got to do what he can to fend off his master, the other Decepticons, the Autobots... well, everyone apparently. That's the fanfiction way!

This video is not saying people should only write canonically. It does however, clarify what is/isn’t canon, give tips on avoiding clichés for unique writing, and tips for if you do want to be accurate. It also stresses some true issues that appear in fanon writing:
-A confusion between official and unofficial material
-Romanticization of sexual abuse and rape
-Vilification of characters
-Disrespect and shunning of asexual relationships, portraying sexual ones as warmer and more meaningful

Nice video Mighty Emperor! It was really fun to watch. I imagine you are already going to put this in your sexuality video (really looking forward to it) but just in case. There is a scene where knockout says “I can’t stand the thought of you humans...interfacing!” *shudder*. I feel like a lot of people would jump on that and say ‘look! They do have the equivalent of canoodling!’. My theory is that like in your language video not all human words translate to cybertronian, and knockout had to pause to think of a word to describe that from an asexual society. Interfacing is when a piece of technology hooks up to another (for updates etc. I think) and knockout thought that was the only way he could describe it. His shudder also points out how he finds it gross and highlights how they are an asexual species.
@@kiranmason4943 They are certainly asexual, and there is no argument there. The large pause comes across as a concept far from their norm and so repulsive that Knockout struggled to find a more tasteful way to say it

Another thing fanon loves to do is have Megatron RIP OFF or otherwise seriously damage Starscream's wings as punishment. But Starscream's wings are his greatest asset -- if Megatron intends to keep him around, why in the world would he destroy what makes Starscream most valuable to his cause? It doesn't make any sense.

The funniest fucking reason I've read for someone tearing Starscream's wing off was, and I kid you not, Shockwave who had a bug that suppressed his impulse control and he was curious how a Seeker would handle social situations without his wings. Since Starscream's wings are a big extension to his communication.

The best section of TFP fanfiction is Shockwave/Soundwave pairing. Its relatively easy to find good fics and when you do they're really fun to read. Those two are so dorky. They're emotionless, silent and they try to be professional all the time and that makes development of their relationship really amusing.
I really like them as a background pairing. Those two are there, silently holding hands while working on their own things, never bothering anyone. Basically my relationship goals.

I actually like the arcee x soundwave ship even if it came out of nowhere but remember soundwave actually has done no wrong to arcee and they may actually bond over the fact that soundwave absolutely bodied airachnid bear in mind most of these fanfics are about her taken prisoner and soundwave bonding with her on the nemesis but other times it is after the war and optimum sacrificed himself and soundwave has no purpose from the decepticons and he is arcees partner on the police force

I'm shocked that the whole "Optimus' daughter" and "Megatron's daughter" hasnt been mentioned yet. (Tbh I'm guilty of the Megatron's daughter but we all have regrets). Also shocked that the Cyberhuman stuff wasnt mentioned, nor just the random humans with like wings or something, not to mention the massive amounts of human ocs that basically goes "I have a terrible secret, I'm abused by my parents! I also am good friends with the autobots and now that they've found out my secret I get to live with them!" Also the majority of the ones where the human somehow gets turned into a bot, and just the massive heaps of everything being poorly written.

I'm guilty of the cyberhuman/amalgamous character currently with one OC except she's a con, but I have her slowly gain strength from her trauma & she has her flaws that stem from emotions or lessons she has to learn on her own (however, I mainly use her for RP's & not fanfics) but I don't think anything is wrong with them as long as people have fun with them & sometimes we make edgy OC we regret later xD

I actually kind of enjoy 'bots having different reflexes and stuff based off their frame type, though I hate when it's just Seekers.
I love worldbuilding, and one of my favourite things is coming up with how certain frame types would behave and function, but it's just frustrating when all of them get mashed together for the sake of Starscream being a unique UwU bean that must be protected at all costs.
I have noticed that seekers get overly sexualized within the fandom. It’s like all they are is a pair of wings which they must absolutely have and a curvy human like body.
The fixation on the wings is what makes me afraid to write a fic where Starscream decided to become a sharkticon.
And yes all bot types should have neat world building and culture.
Honestly with how Cybertron had a caste system I wouldn’t say it’s out of the ballpark for different types of transformers to have different instincts or reflexes it’s just would be more based on caste rather than type.
While I like having Seekers as a species, I much prefer Praxians (which are supposed to be the doorwingers like Smokescreen and Prowl) and Cassetticons (like Soundwave and Blaster). Also, beastformers are the best!

Fanfiction can be a chaotic cliched mess no denying that. However, that's the fun in reading it. We all have our likes, dislikes overall different tastes and yes most of it would not make sense when we end up comparing it to the original content. Which might kill the enjoyment for readers and creators alike. Personally, I like it when a continuity gets combined with parts of another continuity it makes it feel a little less cliched for me.
I do tend to mix continuities, I like a character from here, and there, I have a variety of mary sues, gary stews, some that are better balanced, some that are worse.
I was in tears when you were talking the oc part, it so true how try to make the random person that literally came out of nowhere be a pure badass with no proper reason or explaination. I have seen/read so many ocs storythat I can rarely read them anymore because for the oc to look good, they kinda have beat everyone else down, it both funny and sad to read. If there is an ocs presently, sadly, they have to be in the background and/or have a small role but that it. I can't read a fic if they are the spotlight/center stage.
It's bc they're dumb kids or untalented writers tryin to write somethin that goes way beyond their capabilities. Solution: actually learn how to write

le oof. I break the cliche mostly with my "male" ocs. I follow the cliches a bit tho. I think the last time my main oc got into a fight with Megatron, he got beaten down. The Titan i've got is fun to mess with because he outclasses every other titan in sheer size, but hes all threats and dumb as a brick.
The only femme Ive actually used is my Dinobot. buts thats because I thought "the Dinobots need a medic. and I don't know of any femme Dinobots. Lets make a femme Dinobot Medic!" and it kinda went from there lol.

I confess that I like to read fanfiction in which Starscream is shipped with almost everyone. I agree that some of stories are cringe or unrealistic at all, but I just can't help myself. Some of them are really funny and that's why I read them. I don't like one shots, these are ''what the hell'' kind of stories, I prefer fanfics with more chapters, because they allow a character development made through the eyes of the author and it's interesting to see what other fans have imagined.

That's why if someone likes the idea to ship Starscream with, for example, Megatron or Optimus, they will do it so. This is true for every character. There is a site, fanfiction.net, where you can filter which characters you want to see in a story. And yeah, Starscream can be shipped with almost everyone, like every other.
I read one-shots if it's a snow day fic or something. Nothing that requires development, just something cute to pass the time. But yeah, I prefer chapter books overall as well.

The seeker documentary sent me!!!! That was great!! I don't even read a lot of transformer fanfics but I understand all of this.
I also recommend 'stop me' it's a fanfic that is starscream centered but doesn't feed into most cliches. Though it might have some nit picky bits.

It's not perfect but a better one. I'm a picky reader especially when it comes to fanfics for the exact reasons explained in this video.
Abomination from Hell itself it’s not a terrible read if you wanted to give it a try. It does falls into many of the cliches mentioned though.
It is easy for a story to fall into the clichés, but that doesn't mean it's not good.
I added it to my list some time ago but I haven't had time to read it yet.
That thing with the "OC" and "Mary Sue" really got me thinking...
sometimes I write down dramatic dreams I had that together would create something like Marvel's "MCU",
unrelated to Transformers.
And now I realised why I can't finish their stories, they are all just way too perfect. With each of them beeing the ultimate hero that never fails, it's even hard to let them exist in their own story.
And I hope with this thought in mind, I can someday write a story or something about these characters, just without them beeing too good and having no weaknesses.

I have a TFP Vehicon named Socket.
He was just a sniper skilled in spotting things. That said, he is only good with hitting the mark.

Bruh I liked Transformers so much because of the fact there wasn’t much romance. Like some science fiction books and movies have that romance or gender enforcement but transformers didn’t so I liked that. I was like 7 or 8 when I first found it. When I was 11 I told my dad I thought I was gay. After awhile he said something like “You’re just going to act like I have not bought you transformers and Batman’s all your life?” So I guess it has a special place in my heart, my dad too.
my dad loved g1 growing up and I loved transformers too, so I guess it’s just special to us lmao. Sorry if you didn’t wanna hear the story, but I felt it was a small sweet story that I could easily share on this channel.

Although, to be honest, I prefer canon RID 2015 to fanon RID 2015. I found some of it once, and it was... a-an experience, let's put it that way
First, Yes, RID2015 didn’t happen
to me, RID just had 5 episodes, that’s what took the Bee team to get the cons, cuz they called back up from cybertron, and got the heck out of Earth.
Once Back the B-team did grew to become good friends and started working together there ( so that it makes sense Grimlock and Bee are friends in RBA) as police.
They slowly start to realize the corruption on the goverment and so Bee and Grim move away from the police to investigate with a resurrected OP (I guess, he has to be alove for RBA to work), and so they start forming a provisional government for cybertron once they uncover the decepticons that wanted to mind control everyone. (Throwing a tiny bit of IDW here :3 )
Soundwave gets out of the shadow zone, and is put to jail, but Laserbeak is free.
That way The aligned continuity doesn’t have *that* cringe part and I can Watch Rescue Bots Academy without the pain of knowing it acknowledges RID2015

It’s because most official characters are male or have male pronouns so think about it like a writer who wants their character to be special and different, easy way is to make them female because they are way more rare.

God, it’s so bizarre to hear about this deep fandom stuff with walking toy commercials in the most level and professional voice. It’s not bad, it adds to the weirdness and I respect you so much for keeping a straight face during the script
Man I remember when I first started reading Transformers fanfic. I remember being really grossed out with the whole 'interfacing' thing (I'm an asexual/demi sexual) but came across one fic that did something different with it. Instead of the whole spike and valve thing, the writer wrote that the form of intimacy that transformers would partake in would be that they would merge parts of their sparks together to show their love. I thought it was really nice and I think about it often
This is so accurate it hurts. Finally! I always try to stick to canon as much as possible, and I’ve honestly never liked OC’s since they aren’t canon.
Over time I’ve learnt to loosen up a bit and accept that with fan fiction, you can be creative, you can make your own universe if you want to.
I love Starscream and always have and I will admit that I do like some of canon quirkiness, but the fandom does overdo it.

Funny enough, for certain things I do confuse what happened in canon vs. fanon because sometimes fanon does a better job at world building than some shows/comics (looking at you certain series of IDW)

Hello to both of you!! I have several human OCs and I’m very proud of them all, especially a new one named Lin.
So, she was one of Shockwave’s test subjects for a long time, having suffered a lot of physical and mental trauma from the harmful conditions and side effects of his testing. She had previously been injected with an artificial symbiotic organism that had caused some rather barbaric and unnatural side effects; She froths at the mouth whenever she is angered or provoked to fight and most of her insides have gone from a healthy pink to a nasty bruise-like hue. As for physical harm, she has staples in her right arm and a plate in her left shin, a defibrillator attached to her heart, and several scars from the countless skin and blood samples taken by Shockwave himself.
I don’t mean for her to be an Anti-Sue, but I think I’m kinda leaning towards that and that really concerns me because I adore her so much-!! ;~;

I can and will,though, take this as a challenge to write an incredibly accurate fanfic. Failing that, this was a lot of information to help make my stories more in character. Lovely video.

When I was younger, I actually created a team of Decepticon commandos known as the Striketicons, who specialized in simple but effective enemy disruption tactics. Their leader was a jet named Airstrike, who used both his machine guns and blades equally on missions. Longshot was the sniper of the team, he turned into a Cybertronian sniper tank and could hit a small target from very far away. Barrage was the demolition of the team, he turned into a heavy tank and almost always used his grenades exclusively. Rotor was the hacker of the team, he transformed into a helicopter and could bypass any encryption. Anti Aircraft tank Flak was the sentry of the group, always watching their backs in case there were any Autobots the team didn’t take care of. Toward the end of the war (during 1932 on earth) Megatron sent the group on a mission to investigate unknown radio signals. The Striketicons climbed aboard the their ship, set a course for the origin of the radio signals, and went into stasis for the trip. after a few years, they arrived on the planet Earth during late 1944, on a field in allied occupied Germany. They got out of their ship and decided to take a look around. Airstrike found a crashed Me 262 and scanned it, giving him its form. Flak scanned a Flakpanzer IV, Rotor scanned one of the few German WW2 helicopters to ever exist (plz help me remember the name of it), Barrage scanned a Tiger 2, and Longshot scanned a Half track with an anti tank gun on it. The group would hide on Earth during the events of TFP and would return to Cybertron after the movie’s ending. although back home, they still kept their Earth alt forms
I was laughing so hard throughout this then I was suddenly on full alert for the Oc portion since I'm so unrepentant about making Ocs for fandoms I like. I was pleasantly surprised to find I didn't follow this checklist nearly as much as I initially feared!
-Female? Only a select few. Out of 15 Cybertronian Ocs only 3 appear female. Two are Seekers, but none are predacon or triple changers.
-Tails? No.
-Wings? Only the jets/planes.
-Small/tiny female characters comparative to males? Only the mini-con.
-Hybrid? Only the car.😉
-Special abilities? Only a couple have outlier abilities.
-Invincible? No. Half of them actually suck combat/diplomacy wise. Personalities vary as do motives and goals despite most of them being on the same side.
So glad I didn't wind up with a plethora of Mary-Sues! TOTALLY INNOCENT! 😄
I wonder imhow my oc would stack up, as I basically made her a " Decepticon therapist" she may have multiple forms, but she's no fighter...

I have to agree with you. I view them as brothers. Ya know with Bumblebee being the younger brother. So it definitely makes it very uncomfortable for me to see them shipped.
The Bee/ Optimus dynamic reminds me of an uncle/ nephew kind if relationship.
And to top it off, Bee (and Smokescreen for that matter) are incredibly young for Cybertronians, so they're basically shipping an adult (to my knowledge about as old as Ratchet) with a teenager.
The stuff that makes me cringe the most in fanfiction overall is shipping teens or even children with grown-ups. Like - seriously! How messed up do you have to be?
My first encounter with this was with Naruto and they were shipping SAKURA (about 12 at the time) with KAKASHI (34ish)!

I couldn’t agree more when it comes to Mary Sue Ocs, considering it can legitimately be fun to have more close calls and even bloody fights to break out, which is why I personally prefer Vehicon characters, hell my first OC, the one I’m working on right now, Is a Vehicon named Snapshot that had been run through the wringer by being a test run of the triple changer program, as I would think they’d use a grunt instead of one of their big names just in case things went wrong. (Just to say if that’s not how Triple changers work please tell me I’d rather not get it wrong as I’d prefer to stick to the lore) And, to put it in lighter terms, getting his tailpipe handed to him on several occasions, only able to get a hit off on one of the big names by getting the drop on them. Even then his ambushes almost never work, such as when his wingman and him tries to get the drop on Jetfire’s squad in a story I’m currently writing (shameless plug) only to get ambushed themselves by Silverbolt, an encounter that leaves him barley functional and his wingman destroyed, which, after the timely rescue from Knockout and Breakdown (again, if this doesn’t work I would like to know, just taking his reactions I’d think at least breakdown would attempt to help the wounded Vehicon) leads him to try to never feel as vulnerable as he did that day and causing him to attempt to be more intimidating, such as in a later part I plan where, before he takes down one of the Autobot council members, the council member calls him an Unfeeling drone, but instead of it stumbling the bot, he simply drags his claws through the energon that was spilling out of the council member, and paints a smile across his face plate and saying, “What do you mean? Can’t you see how happy I am?”
It’s stuff like this that makes writing characters with weaknesses and personal fears really fun, because you can show how far the character is willing to go to hide those weaknesses. Either hiding behind an intimidating facade or attempting to try and get on the good side of several bots in a secret attempt to not feel as alone and to never feel as vulnerable as they did in their moments of weakness. You don’t even have to make them incredibly sassy to pull it off, as a matter of fact, it’s better to keep those moments incredibly limited, so when a character actually snaps back at a mainline character, it can be seen as a surprising moment, and might even be used to get the character what little respect he or she can get from the character they snap at as they might not of expected such a thing from such an insignificant bot. Sorry if it seems like I’m half discussing half ranting, I just see a lot of potential with ocs and to see people would rather have their characters be little Mister or Miss perfect really disappoints me.

Canon triple changers don’t have consistent lore, sometimes it’s a rare genetic trait and sometimes (rescue bots) it just takes practice and concentration.
I'll be honest I love the idea of cybertronians being asexual, or intersex it makes it that their culture and race alone is very inclusive. Also thinking about it when it comes to more characters like Anode and Lug or Drift and Ratchet it shows they do have an idea of gender identity and sexuality just not in the same way humans do. Which I prefer cybertronian ideas of identity

While I've never been much into fanfiction writing, the closest I've gotten to an "original character" for Transformers was one created for a TTRPG with some friends. His name's Crackdealer, and along with his triple-changing minicon Labrat (who switches between a humanoid rat ala the Skaven, chemical lab, and Transformer-sized fusion Uzi) he goes around manufacturing all sorts of drugs for the Decepticons... or Autobots if they'd ever pay him a visit in a shady alley. Crackdealer himself took on the form of an extremely shady rusted windowless van. Unfortunately I haven't been able to bring out Crackdealer yet, but I'm certain he'd be an extremely entertaining character.

Most of the fanfics I've read are of the same author, though also two stories from a different author. Both mature writers. The first one being an IDW Starscream/Wheeljack shipper. The second one being a Megatron/Optimus shipper.
I myself is a Starscream/Jetfire shipper. It makes most sense to me, plus I love the size difference.
I don't do any mature stuff myself though, I'm more focused on the war and stuff.
I like to make the romance better, but I don't mind reading someone else's stuff that's a bit more... hot. XD

Sadly, I fell into the trap of using fanon terminology when writing my own, but it's honestly really hard to resist. I can totally see why the Aligned doesn't have those, as you pointed out they're aliens. They're supposed to be different. But for writers, who are literally trying to communicate ideas, themes, lessons, enjoyment, etc. it's extremely difficult to not fall into humanizing the aliens because there's the need to find some common ground that the readers/ yourself will understand. That's hard enough for an experienced writer to convey, but for an immature middle/ high school one? It's why I made the conscious decision to have the cybertronians have distinct genders in my story, even though they truly don't. But I just thought of a few ideas that could help explain that away, so fiddling with future chapters will now commence.
And gosh, OCs. I personally love my OCs. Trying not to toot my own horn, but I AM trying to become a mangaka/ comic writer, so I have extensive experience. I just find it heartbreaking that people abuse their OCs in so many ways. I'm the type of idiot that gets attached to any character that even Looks like a character. So my biggest suggestion to anyone struggling with OCs is that if the character has a purpose, make the character purposeful. Look to real-life examples and their complexities.
This is why I always tried my hardest to avoid any fics that involved starscream as a main, I just want cute consensual fics, like please
Even in my Starscream fics, I try to keep the other characters natural and IC and be considerate for them. Even when Starscream is a main in my stories, I do involve the others as well, though I often write the story in Starscream's point of view which makes for a bit of an unreliable narration. ;)
I might be guilty about making a bit of a Mary Sue character in the fact she was friends with Orion and Megatronus before the war, has scientific, spy, and battleground experience, and is a sorta-reformed 'con. She also happened to be a high-ranking Deception because she knew Megatron as Megatronus.
Hopefully her flaws kinda make up for that tho qwq;
But she isn't a Seeker, Predacon, or anything else you mentioned. She's only a "female" because I find girl characters easier to come up with and write about. So hopefully not a clichè.
I am also writing a character that will be friends with both Megatronus and Orion Pax. In my opinion, as long as you have a believable back story about how your character got all of their traits and ranks that you mentioned ( through hardwork and experience), and has some flaws that tie in with their back round, you avoid the cliche overpowered OC.
@@shannongrande2248 Yeah, I've been slowly rehashing her to get her where I want. The thing I'm mostly trying to achieve is that she's a middle ground. She knew both Megatronus and Orion Pax and had an equal relationship with them; she was lowish-mid class before the war, not as high as Orion but not as rock bottom as Megatronus; she wasn't treated well, but not as bad as the miners; she agrees with both Optimus and Megatron's views. And being caught in the middle makes her stance unstable and causes a lot of inner turmoil as she feels she has to choose one extreme to stand on.
Tbh, when it comes to TF, the fanon is kind of it’s own continuity that sometimes makes more sense than the canon continuities

I prefer when autors try to translate characters from cannon in continuitys they din't aper on, way more fun
I do that with most TF characters in my fics, bringing bots from other universes into Prime or vice versa. Like Ransack, Crumplezone, Red Alert, Octane and Hot Shot (blue) into Prime, and I try to translate and develop their characters into the continuity.
My favorites from these five are Red Alert and Octane, Red because he has anxiety and Octane because he's a Triple Changer and arrogant and needs to be taught a lesson by Starscream, who Octane reminds me of (in the G1 cartoon anyway, plus he met with Starscream's ghost). :P
I hate reading fanfics with ocs because they are usually only self insert Mary Sues. I don’t even read them if oc is mentioned in the tags on ao3 or fanfiction net

Not specifically TFP fan fic, but if you want good world building and character studies, I recently discovered VivificanousPrime’s work. They use a lot of the fanon cliches you mentioned, but it feels more like legit lore than tropes. Plus! Seekers are treated like a race not a species, which we love to see. High key recommend
when I was little after watching transformers prime I wanted more and I went on websites on books or whatever and I read a fanfic on accident without knowing and I thought it was cannon.

I really appreciate this video because, though Ive avoided many of these cliches without realizing it, it did point a few out to me that I had not realized were infact cliches. So I Thank you because personally I like to avoid them when possible. Makes writing more interesting for me.
A good way to rid a Mary Sue in a story is to either phase them out (but keep them mentioned), have them make a mistake that results in something so bad that someone dies, or just plain kill them off
I do make a lot of female OCs, mostly because I'm a girl and I like girls. It's also because I want to write good female characters, so I do my best to make them realistic. I have some guys, though!
And, well, every single OC of mine is gay in some way 😏
My OC mostly isn't the given example; his name is Dragonfire, he can transform into a helicopter and a dragonfly with his weapons being a sword and pistol that can combine into a sniper rifle. The only special thing about him is that he is a reborn character, his first life was in the Beast Wars aligned universe and that he was a human until Tarantulas used experimental nanites that he had made to turn him into a Transformer (I will elaborate on this if anyone wants to know why he did this). He has self-confidence issues that stem all the way back from his human life and can get easily overwhelmed in some situations (just like me), but he always tries to do the best to help his friends... unless he knows he has no ability in the subject (he is no medic, but he will get Ratchet for you if he can). He tends to get along with human characters well because of his past and loves videogames and reading stories (sometimes, a little to much). While he does have some skill with his blade (he did train with Dinobot after all) he is no master, and he can hit any target 100% of the time with his rifle... so long as said target isn't moving.

My character is blue Muscle basically a blue bumblebee with the force and can revive Ally’s with a little Twirl and chant and is also a prime I’ve been at this since transformers prime basically nerf gun in hand running around my house with my guardians from destiny and lots and I mean lots of made up and Canon characters jazz is a back stabbing brother but we fight together on occasion he welds katanas and just loves to show off theirs lot’s more but it’s 7 am soooooo I need sleep

Being the owner of a transformers rp server, I made a massive world from scratch in its own continuity to encourage creativity in the rpers there, and had to fill it with my own ocs to keep the story going for the rpers who joined, as there weren't enough people to fill those roles. Most recently, we needed a medic in a Decepticon base to heal someone who had escaped a Quintesson-run Cybertronian trafficking ring and had been shot in the process. And this base already had characters like Steeljaw, who was working as security and had saved the character, and Quillfire, who had brought the character to the medbay as Steeljaw took the villain via groundbridge to the base Megatron was in.
It took me half a minute of spitballing to come up with a male Opossucon (possum beastformer with motorcycle altmode, keeping with Steeljaw and Quillfire's theme) named Faint who was a medic with narcolepsy and insomnia from being nocturnal and constantly woken up by the others when they get injured. Being a possum, a bigger, more threatening and dangerous OC entered the medbay and scared him, causing his coding to make him grey up, and play dead until that character left. Mostly docile, possums are immune to rabies and those factors made it click that those would be good traits for a medic. Immune to diseases and pacifistic. The narcolepsy and insomnia made him irritable and I even made a joke as he was reading one of the medical scans, that one eye slowly blinked before the other. This man seriously needed a nap.
Again, it only took me like a minute to come up with it. I've just been making characters to fill roles, but I put thought and care into their concepts. These are people in that world, so why not make them good? Yeah, one person made a femme who is an energon vampire, but she also had to deal with everything detrimental to that. She suffers as all the others do.
On my character applications, I make people list at least three weaknesses that can be used against their character, with at least one being physical. The others can be psychological. And if the character, oc or canon, is a super powerful non titan character like a point one percenter or an outlier, or something like that, they have to list five weaknesses, and three weaknesses have to be physical. All of this is not just for character depth and development, but also for balancing so the fights don't just come down to biggest dude throws strongest punch.
Ratchet was able to outsmart Bludgeon by using the holomatter training programs in the training room of the Autobot base to distract and fight him as he made his escape. Sixshot and Optimus had a very deadly fight that Optimus barely won by being quick on the draw and trigger pull with his blaster. Sky-Byte was shot out of the sky by Broadside, but not before he destroyed a large amount of Broadside's cannons. Ultra Magnus took Lugnut's explosive Punch Of Kill Everything head on and got completely wrecked and buried under a collapsed Autobot base. And the OCs pull a lot of weight in the fights and in the aftermath, too.
Megatron is waging psychological warfare on Starscream, but they both want to properly communicate with each other on things, but can't because of deep-seeded hatred and trust issues.
And while Megatron is heavily distracted by the main plot and another villain that threatens him and all the Decepticons as a whole, I plan on letting the Decepticon OCs have a plot where they kidnap Optimus and try desperately to get Megatron's attention, to get higher positions in the army and great rewards. I have this plot just for shits and giggles with a similar feel to "kidnapping Sandy Claws" in Nightmare Before Christmas. Very comedic but with some serious stuff going on, too.
Megatron is written basically as Ace and only really flirts with or does the nasty if it can be used to manipulate someone, and Starscream just really wants Megatron dead so he can rule the Decepticons the way he wants to. Megatron does not violate Starscream. Yes, he'll give a classic brutal G1 beatdown to Starscream, but only when he really needs to and he won't go farther. Starscream is hyperfocused on the Seekers, but Megatron wants to build up his forces overall and not just rely on Starscream's armada like a crutch. He also calls Skywarp and Thundercracker to the front lines and tells them if they don't prevent Starscream from making another attempt on his life, all three members of the trine will face severe punishment.
Having Megatron be Ace and mostly unaffected by flirtation works well for writing him. Megatron is very goal oriented. Always has been. So I lean into that aspect of his character.

I’ve done some light fanfics with transformers in the past however I almost never set it in a specific cannon. Most of my bots are actually non gendered unless they specifically choose to display as one or the other. I had one that was female identifying but took her dead friends name later on and changed to male identifying. Note that this was only relayed in how their pronouns were used, use to be “she did this or that” now “he does this or that”
I’m guilty of the whole “megatron offspring” thing but my Sigmatron is neutral gender with male pronouns, also he wasn’t born from two bots, rather he was built by megatron himself out of pride and used a portion of his spark to give it life. Sigma was given special treatment witch made other Decepticons jealous but made sigma feel coddled. In my story Sigma was the one who finally killed megatron by absorbing his spark into his body sigma then returned to cybertron to help rebuild and lived mostly in peace as a construction bot for a couple hundred years.
I tend to actually underpower most of my oc’s because I find it more fun to explore characters that are just living their lives in the background while all the mc’s are doing the main story. A character doesn’t have to be powerful or special to be interesting.
I’ve already commented on another video but I luckily have OCs that aren’t like all the others. I didn’t even know all that much about Transformers when I made them so I’m very happy that I managed to create at least decent ones. Pretty much all of them are Vehicon’s because they need more love lol. My two main Vehicon OC’s are Julien and Rikki and if you want to know about why they are named that way, I have a fanfic that I’ve only written, never posted online but I’m not sure if I should post it or not. I don’t pretend that my story is canon. It’s just a fun story that I like that I wrote. I’ve only ever told people I have a story but never went into detail but I’m finally going to tell online what the main concept is. Again: I did not try to make this canon, it’s just a story I wrote because I wanted too. The main concept is that Transformers are exactly like humans but hide it because of a war in they’re galaxy between organic and technological and anything that is both is considered an abomination on either side. Transformers are both so they have to hide the fact that they are both to avoid persecution. Again, not canon just a separate story I thought I should write. I like it and I’ve done so much with it lol. It’s humanizing them but I like the story and probably won’t ever post it because of all things that more than likely will piss off the rest of the fandom. Sorry if I made you mad about my story but I don’t try to make things canon, it’s just a little story I wrote that that just happens to be about Transformers.
So basically in your fanfic Transformers are Go-Bots.

Kumquat do you know where Optimus's trailer goes in transformers prime? We only saw it twice, but where does it go? Did it get destroyed when the cons blew up there missile silo base?
And what about the Star Saber on OP's back, and the Dark Star Saber on Megs' back, when they transform? They also seem to vanish into nothingness!

Funnily enough, I saw one or two fanfics with an intriguing concept that was introduced. Specifically this idea was the idea of a device known as a "Spark Collider".
Essentially it works on the same principles as the Spark Extractor, but slightly in reverse. It takes a portion of the sparks to two Cybertronians and in a since "merges" them together into a new singular Spark. Which can then be placed into an awaiting protoform to become a completely new Transformer.
And it seems like it'd work. If you don’t have a functioning Well of All Sparks and since the aligned continuity doesn't go with the idea that new bots are built.
It would stand to reason that the best way to create new sparks would be to use the ones on hand. As it were.
Plus, given that the Autobots and Decepticons have been around the humans and other organic beings for ao long, it stands to reason that they'd devise some inspiration from their earthling companions, right?
Because if the typically Asexual nature of Cybertronians frankly isn't working anymore to increase your numbers, you have to find other ways to do so or you risk going extinct

Heh heh, love your videos by the way. I got into the franchise with Prime when I was about ten, and your observations and knowledge of the shows canon is pretty bloody fantastic.
Also, I 1000% agree with literally everything you said regarding ocs. Literally everything.
I have been into the TFP fandom for less than a year now, and only recently wrote a fic for the series. I've been reading reading the fic for prime for almost my whole time in the fandom and almost everything in the video is accurate to the fandom.
I try to mostly follow canon and proper terminologies from the wiki or the show. I've yet to write starscream at all, or any seekers for that matter, so Im going to try and not make any seekers 'quirky' or a whole other species...
I kind of think that seekers have their own culture, given that they do have things that other frame types dont. Almost every con is a flying frame in prime, I can only think of three named cons that are strictly grounders. Ill probably use this video as ref on what not to do in my future fics :>
I made a Tfp OC. Her name is Puddle and she's a motorboat lol. She's technically neutral, but became a sort of 'honourary Autobot' because she snuck aboard the Ark when Optimus left with his team. She mostly stays at base like Ratchet, operating as his assistant or can take on small missions on water(because she's a boat). Otherwise, she's not much of a fighter but can take on baddies with onboard water tanks that she's able to heat with her core temperature. She doesn't have a human charge, but gets along quite well with Miko, both of them being serious chatterboxes although Puddle doesn't like confrontation and prefers to hide during a fight. This annoys the other Autobots a lot because of her talking, although it has proven to be quite valuable as a great distraction for the Decpticons. Still not the confrontational type and the distracting is often accidental because Puddle will panic and start babbling as a reflex. She was created before the war.

Very glad to say I missed the OC cliches:mine’s a guy, car Alt mode, learns some things from the bots to help but isn’t an expert by any means and struggles in combat just not to the point he has to be rescued 24/7. Also I’m Ace so I never do anything that implies the bots aren’t ace too. I love the ace rep with them! but I’ve watched the show so many times and have a major love for all of the characters and want mine to actually make sense without overshadowing any member of the cast. Can guarantee that as a younger fan I definitely probably struck all of the cliches though, made myself proud to not have fallen into that! Great video!
The nature documentary on Seekers actually made me tear up in amusement ahahahaha
I do like a lot of aspects the fandom made up (though admittedly, I'm a shamless smut reader that regularly crosses her own lines because "well maybe it is written well!" (There's some seriously amazing writing in this fandom, especially in Plug n Play Fanfics. Plug n Play doesn't even feel like smut half of the time, it's AMAZING))
But It's nice to have a video grounded in canon for once.
I love myself some theories and creative reinterpretation but getting called out is very enjoyable. I love laughing at myself xD
