    I have a theory to “pain variation”.
    Most of the weapons they use can either be pea shooters or full-blast autos. The force of the different types of guns are different, such as Skyquake’s machine gun. His gun literally shoved Optimus 20 feet in human measures, but it was lacking in accuracy. Then, Arcee has blasters that were accurate, but it was like throwing pebbles at a stop sign.
    Another addition to this theory is that some bots can take more of a beating than others. Skyquake was almost a tank, taking hits from the Autobots like he was Megatron. And this also goes for his brother. Starscream is easier to hit because he’s frail and inexperienced in hand-to-hand combat. Take that he has no sword or melee weapon except for his “claws”. All he has as an advantage is his highly-explosive missiles, which striked Predaking right on the back and stunned him. But then, there’s the Vehicons. Oh boy I don’t need to explain it....

      I have another theory
      Maybe the metals on their bodies are armour that can absorb energon blasts like Megatron's armour is made of best metal so he is never hurt by an energon blaster but some vehicons do not have that good quality armour so they easily get pierced

    • @not_zippy
      @not_zippy Před 2 lety +15

      I think maybe for Arcee, a higher powered blaster would kick her back enough for it to be inconvenient during battle, because of her size.

    though not necessarily cannon to the aligned continuity. it has been confirmed in the animated series that cybertronians can intake inorganic metal into their body, and their biology quickly assimilates it into cybermetal or whatever they are actually made of. i believe this was also referenced in IDW, but i cannot confirm that.

      By hard science standards...the metal that their living metal appears to be based on is scandium.
      The properties match up rather nicely. Granted it's not pure scandium as scandium is a soft metal that corrodes quickly and is vulnerable to certain corrosive chemicals. Though I can see cybertronians being made of a scandium-aluminum alloy.

    I always thought that Skyquake couldn't transform into a vehicle because it had probably been millions of years since he left cybertron. My thought has always been that being in stasis for that long causes a cybertronian to lose their vehicle form and be forced to accquire a new one

      That matches up with Rescue Bots fairly well actually. When they first arrived on Earth they had been in stasis for a long period of time and they didn't seem to even have any kibble (things like visible tires and windows in Robot mode) and didn't transform at all until scanning a new Alt-mode. So perhaps after an extended period of inactivity the T-Cog or other relevant organ 'forgets' the current alt-mode and thus need to acquire a new one before they can transform.

    I think the reason Skyquake does not have a vehicle mode could be due to a few reasons. Reason 1: he’s been in stasis for a very long time without moving at all, so his T-cog could have “forgot” his alt mode, or (Reason 2) his body was not able to stretch and compact enough enough to transform into his Cybertronian jet, so, he had to scan a different jet to transform, or maybe it’s both reasons combined

    Great video, Emperor! Just a few things I hope might help: On the subject of how transformers might see in their alt-forms, you mention that they might have small cameras or scanners along their form, and how this might have enabled Starscream to see behind him. I think something to support this is that this does exist IRL. Most modern fighter jets have radar to help the pilots see beyond their visual range and warn them of incoming threats or other things, and a new fighter jet, the F-35 Lightning II, actually does have cameras all over its frame to give the pilot 360° visibility, with AR vision to boot. And concerning Starscream's size: he appears to transform into a considerably modified version of a General Dynamics F-16 'Viper' (his version appears to have a different cockpit design and extra wings), a light fighter jet that is very small even compared to other fighter jets in its class (fighters like the Saab Gripen, Dassault Rafale, and Mitsubishi F-2A (yes, THAT Mitsubishi) are marginally larger), so his size appears to be about accurate for his alt form. Just pointing out a few things to help, have a good day.

    Question: In the episode 25 Regeneration of Season 2. Optimus says ''They're reconstruction, would require a level of expertise I do not possess'' Reffering to the reconstruction of the Omega-Keys using the Forge of Solus Prime. Yet Optimus was able to reforge a Sacrid Relic of the Primes. The Star Saber. Altough the blade itself turned to dust, the handle survived. Still I don't understand how optimus was able to reforge this sacrid item. Yet could not replicate the Omega-keys

      I'm not entirely sure cause I'm not a MASSIVE fan or into much lore. *I don't buy books, I just watch shows* I think he was able to recreate the sword cause the knowledge of primes resides within him thanks to the matrix, but the Omega keys I believe were before primes and Primus created them. It's an artifact that could literally trasnform entire planet into metal and I don't think anyone but Primus was able to create them. He just helped it be able to be wielded by primes.

    When you said "the Tcog acts as a brain and tells parts to manipulate and break down" what happens if they do try to transform without it? Do they just get massively deformed?
    We saw what happened to starscream, nothing happened but maybe if you try hard enough. Or does the cybertronian body have its limits on the flexibility?

    • @emperorkumquat

    • @magnawaves
      @magnawaves Před 4 lety +26

      If I had to compare it to our own biology, I'd say think about it in the way that our brains limit our physical strength. Humans can exert a crazy (for a human) amount of strength in a dire situation, but it normally comes with injury. Our brains keep that from happening. If you try to lift something too heavy, you might feel pain. That's the signal saying "stop that" as a preservation method. I think it works the same for a cybertronian, except instead of it all being part of one central brain (which already does so much crazy stuff we don't ever take into account, not to mention that ours expire after 90ish years these days while a cybertronian lives for millions of years if not longer) it's relegated to that "secondary brain" that handles that entire function. Imagine if our bodies had the ability to break apart and reshape themselves? I don't think our brains could handle all those individual parts moving in such a fashion. It'd be like trying to manipulate a thousand fingers or more at once manually. A simpler solution is the T-Cog that computes the easiest and most fficient way to swap body shapes and manage the movement of all the bodyparts to reach said shapes, as well as store the information for those (the normal body with new vehicle mode assets included ((like the doors that make up bumblebee's "wings")) as well as the vehicle mode itself.)
      Pardon the long ass explanation, I'm recently very into Transformers again and just binged Prime 3 days ago so I've had it on the mind quite a bit.

    Megatron as an individual for the "How do they see in their alt-forms?" question is easy, his head can be seen in his alt-form, on the top of the jet's superstructure. This could probably mean that he could use his optics. If you don't believe me, look closely, it's in front of his fusion cannon if I remember correctly.

  • @StarlasAiko
    @StarlasAiko Před 3 lety +9

    As to how they see, cybertronians with a military shape, tanks and combat aircraft, can see all around themselves because they come with a scanner/radar. Non-military grounders in vehicle mode see through their headlights and mirrors. It is possible, and plausible, that non-military fliers have 360-sensors like the military ones have as a flight safety requirement.

  • @fighterbrony
    @fighterbrony Před 4 lety +12

    I think the reason starscream can see behind him in jet mode is because his fighter jet contains an RWR (radar warning reciever) which is made to alert the pilot of incoming threats from all around the aircraft
    Hes most likely using this to dodge shots and look behind him in jet mode

  • @TheScwall

If your T-cog is on your left side you become an aircraft but if your T-cog is on your right side you become a ground vehicle such as a car or a tank. In my head, the insignia (autobot, Decepticon, predacon) is always right over the spark chamber which makes it more painful I guess? Also, Predaking is physically stronger than Skylynx and Darksteel as we see in predacons rising, so maybe that’s also part of the reason the pole is more like an irritation than a real threat.

    I think another reason for why most Autobots are grounders and Decepticons flyers is tactics.
    The flyers would have an undeniable mobility advantage, allowing them to cover ground and flank quickly, making them better at attacking, but due to the limitations of flying, would most likely have far less armor and firepower, making them far worse at defending a position.
    The opposite could also be true, with the autobots having more armor and firepower than even some the grounded decepticons, but lacking their mobility.
    And the reason for why the grounded and flying Vehicons are so similar in armor and firepower could also be that the Decepticons, since their tactics are already focused on attacking, and therefore would benefit from flying, wanted to prepare all of their soldiers to be converted to flyers, even if it would still take a while until they're actually converted.

    Chris McFeely did a very good video on Transformer biology. Apparently, they have 7 or so senses but unlike taste, they have Sight, hearing, touch, smell, short range radio sensitivity, magnetic sensitivity and electric sensitivity. I would imagine that when they get hit with electromagnetic shots like with a blaster or a plasma cannon, they can feel it and the resulting emp emissions can short them out for a bit and stun them. Also, blunt force trauma acts the same it does to regular things where it basically jostles and displaces bot parts and can cause some damage that way.
    Transformium is an esoteric matter that basically is a mcguffin in a lot of transformer stories. I mean in Prime itself, it can basically form the planet itself so its a solid metal-esque material but when shot into the core through the omega lock in its liquid/plasma state, it can revive Cybertron? It makes no sense. Also, it is mentioned in a lot of continuities that transformers assumed alternate modes and alternate forms purely for wartime purposes. Before the Great War and before the Autobot-Decepticon conflict, transformers did not have alternate modes and used tools like any other human-like civilization. It is mostly shown in some continuities where Megatron was a miner before he ascended to be the leader of Decepticons. Also, you completely glossed over Proto forms.
    Triple changing and Beast forms were considered to be native traits and/or anomalies like evolutionary traits taken on to fit the world they reside on. In some stories, Shockwave or some sort of mad scientist basically experimented on transformers, giving them the ability to triple change and assume beast forms.
    But I will agree that there are some inconsistencies when it comes to how and why there are parts that are missing in one mode but present in others.

    I think it would be fun to cover age, physical condition, and time in the Prime/Aligned continuity, as it is rather ambiguous about the subject as a whole, whereas G1 would sometimes state definitively that X# of million of years later etc etc. I think there is some ambiguity between age, maturity and physical condition for Cybertronians, that also likely extends to Velocitronicans, Junkicons, and bots from Caminus. Stasis seems to halt a bot's aging, but could still mean that they were forged millennia before another bot that was forged more recently, but has been in active operation for more consecutive years. Adding on top of that is how some individuals 'act different ages' depending on their experiences, with some retaining a carefree juvenile demeanor compared to others who have been thru trying ordeals that leaves them grim. The final thing that pops into mind is overall health and nutrition of the bot in question. It seems like hard-living, substandard fuel, addictive substances, and lack of medical care can "age" a bot's body much more readily than might otherwise be the case. It would seem to me that entering into stasis lock has fewer negative effects on the body than continuing operation for an equivalent amount of time, while quality fuel, medical care and harsh conditions are present.

    I always wondered how the arm was vital for Starscream's ability to fly.
    On that note, would Starscream still be able to fly if he only lost a hand and not a whole arm?
    I did write a part in my story where Starscream bites off his own hand to escape his restraints and flee, though he still couldn't fly because the stasis cuffs were still attached to his other hand, thus preventing transformation, so on that part, I guess it didn't matter if he could fly with one hand or not. He gets it back later and is then allowed to fly to help the Autobots though.
    BTW, I've been thinking:
    Are Cybertronians unable to transform if they are restrained and/or pinned down, and not just because stasis cuffs are of some special material or something?
    On that note, are stasis cuffs made of some sort of really strong metal alloy that maybe only the Apex Armor (or things made of similar metal to that one) can break? Coz that's an idea I have in my head, but that perhaps with a boost of Synth-En, the restrained bot might become strong enough to break free from the stasis cuffs? I'm just curious.
    3:19 I'm kinda disappointed that we never get to know how Starscream changed from his Prime body to his RID body. Like, is it reformatting, or that "new metal attachment" thing you mentioned? Or maybe a body-transfer?
    Is there an official or sensible explaination somewhere about this? Coz I haven't found anything, and just because the wiki says it's reformatting does not mean that's what it is. Coz, you know, it's still just a wiki, made by fans and expert fans and stuff. So... yeah, while most of the info on the wiki is legit, this particular piece seems to be mere speculation and assumption.
    Perhaps the creators decided not to explain how Starscream got from Prime body to RID body so we fans could decide for ourselves how he did it. Reformatting, body-transfer or parts-attachment/whatyousaid.
    That's what I like to think anyway. So maybe I'm not that disappointed after all. *shrugs*
    8:17 Come to think of it, how often do we actually see Starscream use his blasters? Not very often. In all of Season 1, he sometimes deployed it but did not fire it. In Season 2, he was unable to access it because of his missing T-Cog (though he did fire one when he rode that Vehicon in "Orion Pax", and when he blasted Bee's T-Cog), and in Season 3, as well as the first two seasons, he seems to use his missiles more often than he does his blasters (in bot form, at least).
    Starscream does seem to pack a lot of firepower, whether laser or missile, though in terms of laser, he might use different levels of power. Like, with the zombie, he was genuinely trying to kill it, thus using a higher level of firepower, while he might use lower levels against the Autobots or normal Vehicons.
    We do know Starscream is holding back on his true power, after all, both in terms of hand-to-hand combat skills, firepower as well as physical strength (he could hold up a ceiling of collapsing rocks despite his narrow body and light weight, and in the game he held a ridiculously huge power core without much problem).
    Starscream is definitely much stronger than he looks and than what he lets on. He might purposefully be holding back and act weaker than he is to fool the enemy and his allies, so they don't see him as a (big) threat, and so he can easier trick them and get them to lower their guard.
    Seeker Power!

      @emperorkumquat  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, I believe Starscream can transform without a hand. Some parts of them hide away, while some are vital to connect everything together, and the hand doesn't do anything important.
      Starscream can fight, as he used to do it well in the past, but he lost his confidence and now avoids situations that are life-threatening. He is mostly afraid for real (with Megatron), but he does make himself seem pathetic to lessen aggression toward him (whether to make them think he is not worth it, or to fool an Autobot)

    • @Rubywing4
      @Rubywing4 Před 4 lety

      @@emperorkumquat Yeah. But if he could regain that confidence of his, and perhaps suppress his fear of Megatron, then I think he could do a lot of damage.
      The story I'm writing is gonna end with Starscream and Megatron fighting each other, with Starscream having regained his confidence and suppressed his fear of/respect for Megatron, and he's gonna go all out.
      I'm surprised how few fights there actually are of Megatron VS Starscream in the entire multiverse of the franchise. I think the entirety of fights between the two, in both TV-shows, movies, video games, comics and novels, is probably less than 10.
      In all the TV-shows alone, there are only 4 actual fights between Megatron and Starscream, two of them in Armada/Micron Legend, and the other two in Cybertron/Galaxy Force.
      In the movies, Starscream never fights Megatron. I have not watched/played all the video games, but I do know they fight in at least one of the video games, WFC DS Decepticon version (where you fight as both Megs and Brawl, but will probably be fighting more as Megs).
      In the console version, Starscream seems like he was planning to fight Megs, but then gave up when Megs went into the Dark Energon reactor and controlled it.
      I don't know how many novels there are of Transformers, but I only know of that one fight in Exodus between them, and I'm guessing they didn't fight in Exiles or Retribution?
      As for the comics, I'm unsure. I've read most of IDW G1/2005, but as far as I remember there was either no fights between them, or only one or two fights in total, and there are hundreds of issues in that one.
      I've never read the Marvel comics, so I don't know with those, but I believe that number would also be less than five, probably one or two, maybe three.
      I'm just surprised that, despite how many times Megs punishes Star, and how many times Star sneak attacks Megs, actual fights between them are EXTREMELY rare.
      But those few fights they do have are EPIC!

  • @Rubywing4
    @Rubywing4 Před 4 lety +1

    Okay, I have a question about Protoforms.
    In the "Armada" episode, we learn that Vehicons are created from "blank" Protoforms, which are apparently mainly used for cloning.
    However, since we also learned that the Starscream clones have their own sets of organs, including a T-Cog of their own, they obviously also have Sparks of their own.
    Now, firstly, while the Starscream clones seem to be identical clones of Starscream with his personality and full memory up until the point where he creates them, if they are to be the same as the Vehicon clones, that must mean they are, in reality, individuals.
    Since Vehicons have different voices, strengths and personalities, despite the possibility that they all come from the same guy (the original Steve, prolly a Grounder) and some are given wings afterwards, could that mean that, over time, the clones would begin to develop their own individuals, override their original's personality and perhaps even develop their own voices?
    Because the Starscream clones only lived for less than a day, we don't know how they would have fared if they lived longer, but I think they could have become their own bots, just like the Vehicons have. Heck, the Vehicons themselves might have all sounded alike when they were first cloned, but over time they wanted to stand out and thus changed the way they spoke and even started speaking in different tones, maybe even got their voiceboxes modified in some way to sound different, through surgery?
    Secondly, and this is my more important issue:
    If all Sparks have, as you said, come from the Well of All Sparks/AllSpark (except for Predaclones I guess), then how come there are blank Protoforms, WITH SPARKS, on ships, whose purpose is to become clones? Not even having a face, save for a tiny visor?
    Even in the Rescue Bots cartoon, all the Rescue Bots start out as Protoforms, not having any kibble, despite having been alive for quite a while and having lived on Cybertron and obviously having had alt modes before. But now they're mere Protoforms, not even able to transform until they scan an Earth-based vehicle mode. The only differences between these Peotoforms and the Vehicon ones are that the Rescue Bots have FACES and aren't completely drained of Energon.
    My point is, did the Decepticons just go out and take some bots, completely strip them of their kibble and tear off their faces and drain them of Energon, then put them in stasis so they could use them as clones? Coz that seems like way too much effort put into cloning.
    Where did the Vehicon Protoforms come from? Did they emerge from the Well as well (pun not entirely intended) or were they created differently somehow?
    I know you said Cold Construction doesn't exist in Aligned, but what god would just make these bots without a face or Energon and just let them be used for clones?
    Also, the way CC works is actually that the Sparks emerge from the Matrix - being tampered with - rather than Vector Sigma/the AllSpark, or maybe they somehow connected the Matrix to the AllSpark, in any case, the Sparks still come from Primus, just through the Matrix, which is also a sacred implement. The only reason it's called Cold Construction is because the body is "constructed" in some way, while the Spark is "cold" and only because they get frozen in photonic crystals to keep them alive, since thousands of Sparks could be made in a day. For army-building, much like cloning.
    Maybe CC doesn't exist in Aligned, and I'm okay with that.
    But if it doesn't, then I would really like to know what the deal with the Vehicon Protoforms is.
    Where did they come from? How did they come to this? Did something tragic happen to certain bots who were drained of Energon and stripped of everything to become clones?
    I really want to know.
    Whether in comments or in a video, if that's possible.
    Coz I think this could be an interesting thing to talk about in a video.
    Except if it's a short answer, in which case it's fine too. I just wanna know stuff.

    • @Rubywing4
      @Rubywing4 Před 4 lety +1

      I forgot to mention, I think with CC Protoforms and frozen Sparks, I think the Sparks melt free from the photonic crystals when Energon is added, since Energon is the warm thing in Cybertronians' bodies, and not the metal itself.
      If that's the case, the frozen Sparks could remain within the blank Protoforms for years until some bot stopped by, put his Energon into them, melted them free and then created clones of himself.
      That said, I'm not saying these clones ARE CCs, I'm just saying that could be a possibility if there's no good answer to how they exist this way.
      Coz I'm not sure if unfrozen Sparks would be able to survive in a body without Energon, which these Protoforms obviously don't have.
      That's why I'm thinking photonic crystals here.
      They might even just be Forged Sparks having been saved from extinguishing by freezing them and then putting them into new bodies and wait for them to be reactivated. It could still work, even if they're not CREATED as CCs but merely REVIVED as CCs of sorts.
      These are just ideas I have, of course. Ideas which I think make sense even if they're probably wrong.

    • @Rubywing4
      @Rubywing4 Před 4 lety

      AGAIN I forgot to mention, I believe that if REGULAR Energon was used for the Protoforms, and not Energon with CNA in it, then these Protoforms would most certainly have become their own bots with their own looks, personalities and no memories of anyone else. They would be just the same as if they just emerged from the Well.
      That, at least, I'm pretty sure is legit.

      Yes, the Starscream clones are individuals. They acted as Starscream would because they received his memories, but overtime, they could have changed as they experienced their own lives.
      The lack of "faces" seems to occur naturally. Some random bot would have been used for the vehicon army cloning project.
      Rescue Bots were not protoforms. That was just the design to show bots before they reshaped their bodies

    • @Rubywing4
      @Rubywing4 Před 4 lety

      @@emperorkumquat Okay then, but then is it just a coincidence that all five Protoforms on the Harbinger are the same size and build - seemingly as Starscream, no less?
      I guess it is, considering it's easier to just copy and paste the same model five times.
      Oh yeah, I guess I phrased myself wrongly.
      It was late at night, so I forgot to say that the Rescue Bots are in their protoform state, that is, the protoform underneath all that kibble. Basically they're naked. :P
      Coz I don't think that's what they looked like on Cybertron.
      And then there are the Protoforms which are the first stage of Cybertronian life, like the ones on the Harbinger. Or...maybe they're just bots stripped of their armor until they're only Protoforms.
      In any case it's a bit confusing that Protoform is both used to refer to the first stage of Cybertronian life, their "bot form" in the books, and their "skeletons" I think, when they've been stripped of their kibble.
      Also, would the Sparks of the bots used for cloning be able to survive inside the bodies without Energon, since it seems they don't have any Energon, since Starscream has to use his own Energon to activate them?
      In any case, the murder of those five Starscream clones is just the same as the murder of the various Vehicons.
      In my fic, I had the five Protoforms be activated as their own bots, and then they had nightmares from the TV-show where they're Starscream, and the one who got killed by Bulkhead was really freaked out.
      But I like that if Starscream did not live as a rogue - whether dead, with the Autobots or still with the Decepticons - the Autobots would have gained the Protoforms from the Harbinger and would've gained an additional 5 Autobots, making Team Prime consist of 13 bots (14 with Starscream) instead of only 8.
      Of course, with more bots is required more Energon, so... that would be more difficult, and especially as they would also have to train the new bots.

    I love the explanations you gave in this video, especially on why autobots can’t fly. I always wondered why!

    Yes. I think they don't cry. But only I need to know is...
    How do bots sleep.

    Because you can hear them breath many times

    My theory about the artifacts was that it just used nano tech, which it used already existing metals from it's self to create the armor to cover the host, as well as had it's own onboard power systems. I've never watched the kids show but I guess in that situation it was also created with the same nano tech, power supply, and T-cog, to change any ground based transformer into a flyer.

    In Transformers G1 Optimus Prime could still transform into a Truck while missing his right arm. Check the episode "City Of Steel". His truck mode was also missing a part but still working.

    I have a theory that gives skyquake a reason for not transforming, maybe his vehicle mode doesn't work in Earth's atmosphere while megatron's was altered to accommodate the change. And skyquake knows this and avoids it.

    now what if they explicitly wanted (like knockout wanted to be a car, this taking it a step further) to have an engine, or the engine was a exposed (like a lot of the old hot rods, with no body paneles between the cowling and grill (im talking cars like gow job model ts and '32 roadsters, showing off that chromeed v8 with lake pipes and the like)? could there be an energon powered internal combustion engine (its can explode, so it it could be rendered a gas... with a relatively lean stoichiometreic ratio compared to gasoline). of course, u might get a bayformers thing going on then.

    wait if the living metal can go kinda split into pieces like human cells then why did bumblebee not be able to get his voice back with time or does that only happen when a base like idk rachet make a replacement voice box??? or is that because the writers didn't think of that yet???
