I made a huge mistake which cost thousands when trying to rebuild and restore the 2002 gated manual Lamborghini Murcielago i bought which was abandoned at a track experience company. Not only have i got to rebuild the V12 engine i also have to restore the full body and interior of the car after finding out in the last video that it had been wrapped over terrible paintwork.

Hi Mat, the V12 rear timing cover has the same design as the Audi V8 and V6 supercharged engines. Because there's no head bolts going into the rear cover (just the smaller m6 ones) you can get the rear cover on the engine with the heads in place. Hopefully you see this so we can get another engine video before Christmas!

Was looking for this comment as well, thats right also its more of a struggle then cause u should add some extra sealant and maybe have to customise the sleeves as you have to put it on in a certain angle
yeah im sure there is a way but too much of a risk to damage the head gasket whilst doing it unfortunately

Could be nice with black alcantara, but might also be the boring safe choice.

Just a heads up: Those eBay Headlight Lenses that you saw on eBay are made from Plastic. They are not glass. On the eBay listing it says "We do not recommend this Headlight lenses for street use, these are made to be used on a race track. The Material we use is light and perfect for the race Track . In case you are going for a fix of your OEM Headlight we recommend to use Original Glass lens or to replace the actual complete Headlight. "

It might be worth trying to repair the glass, at least as a spare. I don’t know the details, but have heard of injecting epoxy into windshield cracks for an “invisible” repair.

The injected glass repair works for stars and bullseye damage in windshields but cracks can't really be fixed.
I just can't figure out how they didn't know the lens was glass, it's so much heavier and has a totally different feel from plastic.
I don't know that I would be game to try to separate a glass from the body of any headlight, let alone one that specs out at 10k
@@goodmanboattransport3441 they are in a completely different league than I am financially. I cringe at insurance paying $9k US to repair the low speed fender bender my wife had in my 11 year old 328i. If there was any financial incentive to do it myself, I would.
I agree with you on the weight of the glass, but I was surprised at the weight of a new replacement headlamp assembly just purchased for my daughter’s car - for $58 US.

58 bucks is a deal, I damaged the side mirror on my truck, mind you it still works, it's just loose and electric fold won't stop until it's way forward, but the dealer wanted 1500 bucks for 1 side!, I did find aftermarket ones for 700 a pair, but they lack the electric extend and fold, maybe I'll retrofit those parts, but no guarantee that they will fit properly into the new mirrors

When you said that the headlight wasn’t broken & you were just trying to improve it & made things much worse I felt like you may have been my long lost relative. That seems to be the story of my life. Loving this build so far. It’s like a gasoline soap opera.
Hey Mat small piece of advice when it comes to fuses - if you ever want to be 100% sure it's not the fuse, check for power on both sides when under load, or just replace it with a known good one. I had a fuse once that looked perfect, had continuity on both sides, and would even allow a small bit of current to pass through it. It wasn't until it was under full xx Amp load of the starter that it would break the circuit. It was acting like a bad ignition switch and I spent a good 20 hours chasing my tail.
Also, might be a redundant question but have you checked if the power pin on the instrument cluster connector gets 12V with ignition on? If it does you know you can rule out any and all fuses and wiring that feed power to it.
Came here to write this. Replace the fuse even if it looks good.
If it doesn't work, get yourself a powerprobe if you haven't got one. Learn how it works on CZcams and save countless hours on fault finding electrical problems.
Hopefully the tech that replaced the resistors checked the board for shorts. Some inductors or diodes could be blown too.
Silly question as I'm not a car mechanic, but with a car of this value, wouldn't it be smart to just replace all the fuses with new ones seeing they are fairly inexpensive? That way he wouldn't have to worry about them going out later on down the line? Maybe I'm just overly cautious but I'd rather replace whatever I can so it's as close to new as possible! (But what do I know, just ask my 14 & 15 year old boys who think their Mom doesn't know anything! 😂)
@@YourFavoriteSwiftie For the most part fuses don't really wear out like other components (unless they were out in the elements or flood damaged or anything else that would physically alter the metal), they're either good, or they're blown because a higher current passed through them than they are rated for. At the end of the build maybe replacing all of them would make sense, but right now if I were in his shoes I'd rather know which ones are blown and which aren't, as the ones that are blown will have a higher chance of the component they're protecting being damaged as well.
As far as wanting as much as possible to be new on a car like this - to some extent yeah I guess, but there's also an argument to keeping as much of the car as original as possible.
Must be a couple dozen companies in UK that can fault check and fix that circuit board. Hardest part was taking it out of the dash.

Lots of comments so somebody may have said this but I'd be rebuilding the old oil pump by have a good 'look' at the new one, and then selling one of them. Your 'can do' attitude is great, keep it up!

I did a three Lamborghini track day and honestly my biggest take away was that it was a bummer that the cars were in such poor condition. Guess that's the nature of the business model for them, but still a shame. Love watching these vids, new to the channel. Good work.

Great series, £100k was a bit rich considering you can get an in shape / serviced one for £140k. Love the passion though and can't wait for you to start it!
And one that hasn’t been thrashed to within an inch of its life all day every day. It was a 75k car tops.
I thought they were around 300k but if you can get a decent one for 140k then I don't get why he paid 100k with the amount of work it needs and ridiculous parts prices.

You take everything in your stride and maintain a great attitude towards any and all obstacles you face, be that finding a hole carved out your gearbox tunnel, or breaking a headlight and finding out a replacement is 10 grand!!! Just a suggestion. I would put a permanent access panel on the Trans tunnel. Since it has already been cut, it could add strength as well as make linkage maintenance easier.
That is a very good idea, I thought of something similar, It does have to be Watertight.

You're getting smart about the dealer prices and alternatives to buying from the dealer. The dirty secret is many low production cars use off the shelf parts to avoid making bespoke parts that take too much time, effort and expense to produce in small quantities

With the dents on the dashboard slightly heat it up with a hot air gun, don’t get to close and carefully warm it without burning the leather might help reduce it abit buddy!
Piece of cotton cloth soaked in boiling water then into microwave for 60sec using gloves hold it onto dented area then using heat gun gently heat area it will remove the dented area or if you have acces to Steaming equipment cloth over dent steam untill it removes dents
matt it could be worth changing the fuse anyway maybe a faulty fuse. love your videos mate 👍
Never seen a faulty blade fuse...does it happen much?wouldn't think there's anything to go wrong on them...

I mentioned this in PT2 video.
somebody mentioned in PT2 comments "FUSE NUMBER 8 it’s a 10Amp fuse in passenger footwell fuse box it will be the 5th one from the left labelled GFA/OBD2 which is also CAN and instruments." check it out again could be a massive shout or on the cluster circuit board, also check out the component IPS5415S, its a 5 legged component just along from the resistors, it’s a power mosfet switch, could well be damaged, can’t really see much else on the video but the diodes, rectifiers, and MOSFET in that area all good places to start looking
