Made mine out of 3m long carpet rolls. Then used very light paper mache on the outside ready for painting. Super easy, super quick, plus they stand straight up with stands. Love birch

Hi I'm making Birch Trees for a theatre production. Where did you buy the big pieces of the Matt board? We are making the trees from leftover foam board for lightweight design. I am struggling on branches. Would love any suggestions.
I bought them at the bookstore at the college I work at. You can find them at most art supply stores. Hobby stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby would have them too.

Hi Robin. I think once you start making bark, your brain will be flooded with ideas. You can literally wrap it around anything. Foam ought to work great. You could wrap it around pool noodles too. Sky's the limit.

oh sorry i meant to say i was thinking of doubling up the props so the bed can turn side ways and somehow 2 pushed together would look like the pirate ship ?!?!
Hi there. I don't really have any great tips for you, but the idea of combining props is a good one. Audiences love to see transformations. I would definitely try to develop those ideas. Best wishes on your efforts.
