We drive the updated Ford Everest and see what this large 4x4 is like to drive.
Is the Ford Everest the true four-by-four to buy? Sharing many components with the super-popular Ford Ranger ute, the wagon-body Everest comes with a choice of a two-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel, or alternatively, a 3.2-litre turbo five-cylinder diesel. Both engines have their followings, of course. Standard fit is the Australian-tuned chassis and Ranger-inspired cabin.
Is the Everest a good deal? Should you consider a Toyota Fortuner or Mitsubishi Pajero Sport instead? Or should you wait for the forthcoming, new Isuzu MU-X?
In today’s video, Nathan Ponchard takes a detailed look at the Everest Sport to give you detailed insights about this vehicle.

Firstly, the reason it is called a Bi Turbo is that the two turbos a not Twins, they are not identical. One is bigger than the other. Secondly, l cannot agree that the Bi Turbo 10 speed combo is not as good at towing. It pulls my 24 ft caravan easily and the benefit is that when l’m not towing, which is 95% of the time, it has excellent fuel economy.

I disagree with the towing of 3.2 liter vs 2.0 liter. Twin turbo.
I traded my 3.2 Liter 5 cylinder to this 2.0 liter Twin turbo Everest.
The refinement, extra grunt and less worked engine of this 2.0 is more reassuring than the 3.2 in all department. Sure having 5 cylinder and 3200 cc displacement is a more appealing to hear but after trying the 2.0 I just traded it.
    1.) Fuel economy
    2.) refinement
3.) extra power and grunt the engine is less “worked out”
4.) newer technology means improved in all department.
5.) No problem with hard core towing and off roading.

You've got to be incorrect in asserting via a comment while driving that the Ford Ranger does not have low range! I think you meant to say that the Ranger differs from the Everest on test in that it only has part-time 4wd instead of the Everests full-time 4wd, which can be used on bitumen. Of course the Ranger has 4wd with low range but it's use is limited to lower traction surfaces.

The Everest is much cheaper than the Prado and much more off road capable than most people who will plonk themselves behind the steering wheel. Its one of the very few in this class (eg Prado Ugly, Fortuneteller) that doesn't turn the traction control off when you lock the rear diff (when you are most likely to need it?). But also it will not dust your engine or have endless probs with the DPF which Toyota took years to own up to and still don't fix properly. The Everest is way more comfortable and better handling on road.
