    They are located in Massachusetts as well. Cumberland farms originally started as a dairy in the Town of Cumberland and grew from just dairy products into the superstore they are. I'm a Cumberland boy! When I was little we used to go up and feed the cows at the farm located off of Bear Hill road in the Town of Cumberland

    i still am shocked when people dont know slater park, they sell some wicked clam cakes and chowduh but if you cant go there you go to either ollies or to your grandmothuh, you ask her and you get clam cakes and chowduh, stuffies, lobstuh, a muscle or two, and fish. maybe some lobstuh mac an cheese or deviled eggs. and if you run out of an ingredient you walk to your local stop and shop and run into someone you know that you invite over.

    The bug was built by the former New England Pest Control. Big blue Solutions took it over much later, named after the bug. How about a Coffee Cabinet?

    Grew up in Scituate and Providence, and return often to see family and friends. Grew up saying bubbluh, and didn't know others called it a water fountain for many years. Interesting historical fact about Cumberland Farms: before 1960 there was a Trappist monastery in Cumberland (1464 Diamond Hill Rd). A local man bought a cow (or two) from the monks, and that was the beginning of Cumberland Farms. (The monks moved to Spencer, Mass. when their church burnt down.) You forgot to explain to non-Rhode Islanders what Iggy's is. The Awful Awful is called that because the original marketing for it said it was "awful big, awful good". Perhaps at a later time it might have been called a "Wicked Wicked". I remember many a time wandering into the Newport Creamery in the Midland Mall and seeing a bunch of guys surrounding one guy in the middle who was trying to "drink three and get one free". He would have two finished, was working on the third, but his face was signalling his inner agony. As for New York System, they are the best, but not made right unless the guy stretches out his arm, arranges a set of four or more buns on that hairy arm, and loads the buns with the wieners, sauce, and chopped onions before handing them over to the customer.

    Not a clam it's a quahog. Red sauce is gravy usually homemade. You go to Federal Hill it's gravy. The Big Blue Bug has a name it's Nibbles Woodaway.

    Nah, coffee milk might not make you drop everything to get some coffee milk but it really is so delicious that noone should be denied a coffee milkshake.
    I make my own quahog stuffies w either linguica or chourico. Portuguese sausage. Some day old bread cubed, fresh parsley, garlic, and the meat of the inside of your fresh quahog ( very large clam) cleaned well and chopped. Soften your bread cubes in broth or white win, mix ingredients well. Stuff empty quahog shells with mixture and bake at 375 F for 45 minutes. A spritz of fresh lemon really brings it home before serving.

  • @BitesizeUGC
    @BitesizeUGC Před rokem

    One quick thing. A stuffie isn't a clam per se. It's a quahog, which is a hard shell clam. It has no neck and is sealed. You got the basic prep, though. Also you have to have some little necks with a good hot sauce.

    "Gravy" for red sauce is also an Italian thing in NJ, so maybe it's not regional but ethnic.

    I was raised in RI and loved this! I've been living in Mississippi for over 10 years and I STILL can't understand what they are saying! P.S.: My dad LOVED mushroom burgers and coffee cabinets at the Wakefield Newport Creamery back in the 70s! And on our way home from school our bus driver would stop off for us at Del's in Quonset on the way home. I am verrrrrry homesick! And if anybody says "Y'all" to me, I will punch you in the throat!

They used to have round fountains but only a little bubble of wata came up, hence bubbla. I don't know about awful awfuls, but that looks like a cabinet to me. What about American Chop Suey?

      From Ohio and lived in RI in the 80s- and the people I met had truly RI accents. Funny you say they sound like they’re from Ohio- they do have midwestern accidents but I also recall some of the RI lingo- coffee milk, awful awful, wicked everything, Del’s etc. Fun channel
