If these two guys could get over their ego's this might have been interesting. I note no mention is made of the legend of. Ned Quinn who owned 7 large casinos before and during Prohibition and like most good roadhouses of the day , A lot.of their alcohol came from the Italian Mob . Ned didn't like paying taxes much, didn't like banks after his gangster friends began robbing them, so he put all his gold under the floors of his casinos. Quite a bit of it was made into coins with the face of a man ( possibly Ned himself) on them.. Everything was going well when the 1938 huge hurricane hit Rhode Island ( after marching up the East Coast , totally devastating coastlines all along it) ..it hit Rhode Island head on, wiped out 6 of his casinos and many famous homes and beach properties such as Katherine Hepburn and her family home. She and her family got away " only by barely getting to our car and back over the Causeway in three feet of water as it roared down on us". Anyway, Ned had a heart attack soon after, and after WW2 people had better things to do then look for something underwater, remember scuba was in its infancy then. Few could afford it as a sport. The legend, like many , was forgotten. I heard this story from a old man, he showed me a single chip. That was in 1966.
