    This platform needs some motion compensation for VR support. Otherwise I can see that making anyone sick within 5 minutes of use. Just watching the view go in and out as he moved up and down was enough to give me motion sickness.

    • @harf4ng
      @harf4ng Před 3 lety

      Don't understand what you mean. The motion sickness is because you have the view and the mouvement not related. If you move as the view moves too, it shouldnt give you motion sickness. Maybe you got motion sickness because you watched that at home without your body moving too ?

    • @KillerXtreme
      @KillerXtreme Před 3 lety +3

      @@harf4ng If you watch the video, because his head with the headset moves with the motion platform as if he was moving around by himself that would cause you motion sickness. Motion compensation needs to happen so any movement of the platform is negated in game, so it doesn't come across as you yourself moving your head. So if the platform rolls you forward you're not instantly moved forward in whatever game you're in to just simulate say a stop in a racing game. In this you're head would end up going through the dash because it's moving the point of your head as well.

    First of all this just look amazing, I had the first one, I made a review on youtube (and thank you youtube to put it down because of some music in the background) and it was already awesome but with some cons.... the "cup" was uncomfortable after a little bit and the steering wheel base was popping out just with little push.
    This one looks amazing and everything is, for what I see, fixed.... the "cup" is gone and now we have a normal chair and the "table" is way better that the old solution... nice job.
    I have a couple of question.
    for Quest 2 users stand alone, can you connect the Quest 2 somehow to the Yaw2? Off course I will play all my racing games with the pc, but will be amazing to play other games directly from the quest2, but I don't think is possible....
    There is any kind of cable management system? Because I was interested to the rotation add-on but with the last one I had to put the cables on the ceiling and really I don't wanna do it anymore.

    Really interested in the "hassle-free and calibration-free" claims. The main reason I never jumped on the Yaw1 was because of all the finicky software and constant calibrations from various reviewers. Didn't look user friendly at all. What was supposed to be a convenient solution suddenly turned into something that looked extremely cumbersome. 43 days to go as of this writing. Hopefully a production-ready sample will be sent out to reviewers before Kickstarter ends. Not sure I'd want to back it if the software isn't ironed out yet.

    Just doing a bit of research before backing. I can see that the headset tracking is off in this video when in the car? Will the compensation for the body moving be fixed for VR sim racing? Does the Yaw2 have motion compensation? What I mean is this: In the starwars game I see the person's neck leaning forward as the motion chair moves back (up). This neck movement does not seem natural. I am guessing he is compensating for movement of the vr image? otherwise if the neck position is fixed to the chair you would end up looking up at the cockpit when the motion chair goes up. The vr image should instead remain fixed to the viewer. Does that make sense? Hope you can provide some insight into this.Thanks.

    YawVR, in all honesty this looks absolutely amazing! This is the only type of motion platform I would seriously consider. There are two things I'd like to comment on....
    1)I've been telling people that the "D-Box"-style motion sims are not worth it, since they only deliver heave. Not to mention, who wants to pay $10K for a D-Box when you only get 1.5" of heave travel!? Pathetic. People need to realize that the only way to move the motion platform community forward, is to incorporate yaw and sway into the equation. But.....with that having been said, I do agree that having some degree of heave on your system is also beneficial to the overall experience. So question is, do you plan of looking into a way to incorporate any type of heave into the YawVR platform?
    2)The other main issue for me personally, is my size and weight. I too, am a large guy, at around 6'4ft and just over 300lb. Furthermore, in addition to my size, my equipment is also quite heavy. I use a direct drive ffb wheel with a Kollmorgan motor that is quite heavy(don't know the exact weight but it feels like a small dumbell), as well as not one, but *two* shifters, an H-pattern and a sequential....both of which are large industrial sized shifters made from Quaife Motors.
    I certainly wouldn't want to mount these heavy pieces of equipment onto a platform that couldn't handle the weight of them. If I had to take a guess, I'd say the total weight between me and my sim control equipment is around 500lb give or take a few pounds. From the looks of it, the version of the YawVR motion sim displayed in this video definitely doesn't look like it could handle such weight. So the question is, is there a more robust version of the simulator that is built for heavier users and heavy duty sim controls, that you plan on developing?

    • @YawVR
      @YawVR  Před 3 lety +4

      We are working on a G platform (heave) that will travel around 5-7 inches (15-20cm), it looks promising, but we don't know yet if it will work well or not. We will have a prototype in a few weeks, so we are excited. Your weight is on the edge, and although we have PRO edition with a stronger structure and motors, but honestly we didn't test the device with that high weight level yet. On next week we will do a stress test and will upload the video about that. But 500lb sounds a bit too much for me now, but lets see, because now usually we use the motors under 50% of power, so it is possible it can handle that weight.

    I was there at the beginning of the launch but i didn't buy it because, as others have said, it was confusing. If i had jumped in i would have definitely bought the wrong add-ons. Pricing for the chair add-on was disappointing too. No idea what they will charge me for customs to my country either. With all the overpriced extras, it doesn't come out that much cheaper than the dofreality H3, which is probably better than this for racing sims.

You can buy the seat with led lights as an addon separately (for around 75 USD) or even you can use your exsisting or any other seats that mountable on the device (most of the gaming and office chairs are compatible) You also can buy the Yaw Platform (the rotation unit) separately as an addon for around 280 USD. Hello Yaw VR, the new chair sounds great. One Question / wish:
    I wanna use such a (great and expensive) chair not only for a few hours gaming.
    My favorite wish beside gaming is to use the chair for movies, for example connect a hdmi-cable. At high volume (explosions,...) the chair vibrates. Also: People or companies creates downloadable (purchasable) motion protocols, so the chair motion is synchron to the movie action (like 4d cinema-seats).
    Is this possible? Thank you.

      we will have 200 early bird units on different price levels from 790 to 990 USD. • @YawVR

      Yaw2 is basically capable to work with PS4/5 but it is up to the actual game. Now for example you can connect Yaw1 to PS4/5 if you use Sim Racing Studio on a PC, so the game on PS4/5 will send the data to the PC and the PC will send it to Yaw1. If a game could connect directly to the simulator, then the PC and SRS would not be necessary anymore (but unfortunately there is no game yet with direct connection to Yaw). An other option what we are considering to build in a "Mini Game Engine" into the simulator and it could connect directly to certaing games on PS.
