2022 National Meet in Hickory, North Carolina: • VCOA Volvo Club of Ame...
🚀Joel "Doc" Glasson has built a really cool rocket of a Volvo 140. Here he shares some of the story while I rip roar around the town of Gettysburg, with photos from his facebook of the work that went into it these few past years. I'm so glad he got to make it out to the Volvo Club of America VCOA National Meet with this 142. Thanks to friend and Patron Colville for recording this.
Some specs: +0.060 overbore B20 built by Vintage Performance Developments (VPD)
Forged pistons, zero deck height with the 0.032" head gasket achieving a 10.5:1 compression ratio
VPD Stage 2 ported and polished head, 45mm intake, 36mm exhaust valves
Double valve springs with a hot cam
Megasquirt 2 fuel and spark management with Ford EDIS-4 ignition coils getting input from a 36-tooth-minus-1 VR-sensed crankshaft pulley.
    9 lb lightened flywheel
Remote oil filter, electric cooling fan, IPD front and rear sway bars and lowered competition springs
    Polyurethane bushings, Bilstein shocks
Detroit Truetrack Torqued biased rear differential with a 4.10 ratio
15x6 Minilite wheels with 205/60 BF Goodrich Advantage T/A R15 tires
    Stainless braided brake lines
100 amp alternator using Ron Kwas conversion bracket
Stainless Steel exhaust with two flowmasters and an electric cutoff valve
a 400 hour body restoration and best of all... he's had the car since 1976 and acquired 250,000 miles on it all these years!
    Estimated horsepower is 175. Nice!

check out driving 4 answers, they mention the b20 engines when being developed ran red line and full load for 500hours and non failed the test.
but this car doesnt need to prove it.

This man makes me smile. Loved the entrance music.
I am really happy he isn't one of those old folks saying electronic fuel injection is garbage just because they don't understand it. This man knows how to learn and thinker.
I recently slap together a haltech on my car and the experience of doing something special for your own car is such a pride.

    I drove a 1973 145 wagon during the mid 80s to 1996.
I had both the Bosch D-jet fuel injection and the Webber 2 barrel carburetor on it..
I drove that car about 70,000 miles.
I was able to drive the car hard.
I had the IPD swaybars on it.
I'm in my late 60s now.
I really enjoyed watching the interaction between the 30ish driver and the 80ish owner. Mutual respect. The driver enjoyed the car and understood what the old man did to the car. While the old man
respected the younger man's driving ability.

I knew a guy who got his hands on a 142E, and he let me hoon around in it on back roads much like this video. He'd just picked it up with the intent of making a rally car of it. I have to say, I've driven many a volvo but none that put that big a smile on my face. Working on outdoing that with my 240. Thanks for making this vid, it's bringing back some good memories. And thanks to Joel for building it and letting you make this video. What good fun!

This is not just any ‘71 142, it’s a E. Allegedly less than 1500 were built in three colors, the gold this one was originally, the less common blue it is painted now, and the very rare white. Unique high compression engine with a bigger cam. OD and leather were included. All the SCCA ITB racing Volvos were clones of these.
I had a gold one and of all the Volvos I’ve owned, it was by far the best.
