Here is the first iteration of my custom mtb toolbox. I wanted to keep it simple as I experiment with the layout and functionality. Let me know what you think. I'm already having ideas for version 2!
I found your video because I found that hart storage setup, on clearance for 39, bought 5 of them, gave one to my son, and using the other 4 for storage in my van for my bicycle stuff, AS well as home owner tools. And basic mech tools. Klein was just clearances out at home depot so got to finally build out my electrical stuff. I have a 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 sockets, extra, from lowes. Their sets were clearances out last Jan/Feb. Knip cobras to snap on pliers got cheap second hand. Impact socket set from tekton. 3/8 and 1/2 no skips. Bottom bins I store all my m12 fuel power tools as I make stuff and fix stuff. My ratchets are snap on, icon, craftsman, Carlyle, wiha... I too used the foam technique you did, but my foam were diff colors from foam flooring for kids play room you can buy. . . Need to redo in black hahaha
I traced out shapes with a black thin sharpie, cut out with a utility knife, and glued to thin backboard. Made edge dividers that divided the trays, out of those rubber nubs at the hardware store. Glue and doesn't move, props up trays above.
This was just version one. It's a modular setup and there will be many iterations. But, at the time it was doing multiple bike builds and setup testing. Was experimenting with different bar widths. I run narrower bars and have to cut them down from 800mm that comes stock.
