Thank you Malcolm! I'm using "The art of Segmented Woodturning" for my first segmented lathe project, and it's working very well! I'm thankful that your expertise and willingness to share what you've learned. I Think you'll go down as a major inspiration for a whole generation of wood working artists!
Ive missed the wisdom of an experienced communicator. Thank you so much for all of the valuable strategies and tactics you use instead of wasting money on high end garbage tools. I especially love the pencil marks used to ensure a flat surface.
I thought I'd watch a minute or two just to see where it went, and I ended up watching the whole thing. You explained the whole process very well. Thanks for sharing.
i have no idea what to say other than you are a very special person who happen to stumble on a god given talent that was given to you without you knowing. You are just one the lucky ones who found your calling.
You sir have a wonderful mind to be able to contemplate your works of art, and a wonderful talent to be able to produce them. Burning Man was tragedy and I am pleased that you have the fortitude to continue in spite of it.
Wow, thank you. I’m so glad that I stumbled upon your magnificent work. A pure joy to watch you work and to see your finished creations, again, thank you, very, very nice work 🇦🇺👍🏻
I love to turn wood, sometimes however I am a bit cynical about where it can lead. Your work gives me hope that the future is wide open to new and wonderful art.
Amazing job Malcolm! Makes me wonder a little about how your mind works... convoluted doesn't come close!... I say this with the greatest respect. It's like wow... Respect!
Sir like most of the comments here. I am in awe of the work you did on this. The end result is truly stunning. Thank you for doing this video. And showing how you created this masterpiece.
the pieces you made for burning man where absolutely beautiful, their fleeting existence initially made me sad, although it makes you appreciate the moments you have in your life and how much we must cherish them and the people we cherish them with as they could be gone in an instant. thank you for your amazing dedication.
From both a wood, mathematics and art point of view this is the finest work I've seen in my life! This is so good on so many levels that I can't find the words to express what I feel right now, but WOW is probably the best word to describe what I've just seen! Huge thanks for sharing! Way beyond my current woodworking skills, but then this is a masterpiece! I now have to ascertain your previous filmed work and dream away... :)
This is incredible! This is gorgeous! This is amazing! This is awesome! I could keep going lol. I cannot fathom the amount of time, talent, dedication and patience that went into this project. You are a master craftsman. I really appreciate you sharing this. This is incredibly inspiring. Thank you.
Very cool work. That looks awesome. So far I think I have watched 7 of the 8 dvds of yours. The local club doesn't have the latest of one yet. Wish I had more shop time. -Todd
I won't be trying one Malcolm , but I really liked watching and hearing you put this together. The dedication to the project is surly what makes these things the marvels that they are. .
Fantastic. I didn't planning on watching this,-youtube did. But I loved it, and couldn't turn it off. Great stuff. Love the work. Great man. Great job. thumbs up. Greetings from Norway.
Although I think this is way more complicated than anything I will ever undertake, I find it absolutely amazing!!! I can't imagine how many hours are in a piece like this.
Hi. It's really not my bag this type of geometric sculpture work, but I have to say I take my hat off to you for producing something this wonderful. I find it stunning and superbly executed.. Bravo you and thank you for sharing.. Superb 👍
Outstanding and needless to say beautiful work Mr Tibbetts. I got my start in more horizontal 2D laminating during woodshop, but never pursued it. It was so gratifying yet I didn't listen to the little voice. I don't think there was a market for that artistic woodwork during the post plastic age late 60's. I am however at the ripe age of 60 endeavouring to begin a CNC router biz leaning towards artistic works. I will be doing lots of laminating to create my material roughs. Quite entertaining and thought provoking sir. I will be looking out for your good works on YT :-)
I envy your capacity for conceptualizing something so intricate. You can purchase the hose clamps in any length you need from a company called It Clamps On. they make them for holding street signs to poles. Your skill and knowledge are remarkable.
This was awesome ! I found it very easy to follow You made something extrodinary and mind bending so simple to build Nice job! I would have to turn smaller I can't chuck up anything that big Nice job!!
zippy Funny you should suggest magnets; I’m currently working on a tangle of six squares. The 24 corners will be held in place by magnets, sort of a puzzle for my grandson.
As soon as I start feeling a bit cocky about my skills I'll just watch this video. That should bring me down a notch.

Your ability to see this, think it through and then complete it puts me in awe. Thank You.
Wow, such an amazing wood artist. Beautiful workmanship.
Way to share Malcolm, your insight to clamping and sanding transcends to most projects and are great tips!

You're the M.C. Esher of woodworkers.
Genius, thank you. You are probably the only person existing that has the foresight, equipment and time to do this.
I thought I'd watch a minute or two just to see where it went, and I ended up watching the whole thing. You explained the whole process very well. Thanks for sharing.

Your work is always so enjoyable. I would love to have you comment on how many total hours go into the builds.
A work of Art...At the 13.37 min. mark you could put neodinium magnets in the end of all the donut halfs, and make it an interactive sculpture.
zippy Funny you should suggest magnets; I’m currently working on a tangle of six squares. The 24 corners will be held in place by magnets, sort of a puzzle for my grandson.
