    As you know , I have watched your progress on WoW for many years , bought your book just for interest sake, but this video tops it all . The instructions are so detailed and show the detailed steps you are faced with .
    You are THE master of segmented work as far as I am concerned !

    I think it would be really cool if you did a lamp, but have the base go in all directions before reaching the top.

    So beautiful and impressive. I wondered why you didn't create a bunch of barrel culverts? They were used in the late 1800's on the transcontinental railroad. Long strips of wood with the same angle cut into them. Then glue them in long barrel shapes, and slice them to size, including the tampered angle. I'm sure you thought of that. Beautiful art. Thank you for sharing.

    Unbelievable! Extremely impressive. The thought you have given to this is without comparison. My hat is certainly off. One question, how many clamps do you own and how many thousands of dollars in tools must you have? Many congratulations on the newest additions to your family.

      Rick Leakey I’ve collected clamps for over 50 years. A rough estimate of all clamps, all types, is about 800. Regarding equipment, I have most of the necessary woodworking tools in a very crowded, tiny shop. Cost? Couldn’t even guess.

    Malcolm what are your thoughts on using a planer as opposed to a drum sander To put the taper on the rings ? If you are using a Helix cutter head Plus that melamine backing do you think the rings were get torn up by the planer?

    I’m literally stunned by the finish piece. It is simply amazing. Your description of how 23 comes into play made me almost shiver because you said there were 23,000 pieces. Wow, if you don’t mind may I ask about how long this piece took to finish. It’s beautiful.

    I am astonished by the level of work and patience you have displayed in this video. Allow me to try and save you a little time next time; isopropyl alcohol will loosen the grip of hot melt glue on the wood. Just dab a little on and you can peel the glue off with ease! Keep up the good work!

      Brian Prusa I’m not sure I understand. Why do I need a belt sander? BTW, I have a 4” sander.

      Malcolm Tibbetts a wide belt sander. Like a drum sander but more efficient at removing material and heats up less. Depending on the grit and wood hardness you could do tapering in one pass accurately. Drum sanders just don’t have the umph to get it done in my experience.

    that being said you may wanna skip mentioning the whole "five skin colors of man" thing in the future. i know your intentions are pure but that sort of thing is a bit iffy.

    It says a lot that with the patience you have to build a project like this, you still have to worry about a 19 minute video being too long. You could have done a series of 10, 19 minute videos and it would not be too long!

    As a note, freezing the hot glue will make it possible to pop the glue off the board and rings.

    A way to remove hot glue is alcohol. Just drip it onto the glued part and the glue pops right off, should save you a lot of work and clean up.
