  • Fear a’ Bhàta (The Boatman), sung by Linn Phipps with harp-player Dave Alloway and young fiddlers of the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club, at the Scottish Farewell at Cresfest 2024.
This beautiful and well-known Gaelic love song, Fear a’ Bhàta, was written by Jane Finlayson (Sìne NicFhionnlaigh) of Tong in the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides of Scotland, in the late 18th century. She wrote about her love for the fisherman Donald MacRae of Uig, Lewis, whom she later married.
