9 Ways to Use Filters Creatively // Dannysound Multimode Ladder Filter

- While it’s common for classic circuits to be reused, cloned and emulated it’s not as often we see them expanded on. So I was excited to see that Dannysound’s Eurorack filter module takes a classic filter design and expands it in several ways. The Multimode Ladder Filter is based on the 1960s classic Moog transistor based low pass ladder filter design but it expands it by being multimode (with added band pass and high pass), it adds level control to clean up or further saturate the filter, features additional CV control with attenuation and compensates for the lost low end at higher resonance settings which is a characteristic found in the original Moog filter.
This video is a demo of the module as well a tutorial offering 9 patches for pushing your filtering creatively. Try these in your systems and leave a comment letting me know how you get on.
Patreon supporters have access to a PDF patchbook further outlining the ‘patching accents’ section of this video. So if you’d like a full patch breakdown, patch diagrams and explanations that explore the exact modules used but also the general concepts head to the link to join the community and gain access to exclusive content. bit.ly/DK-patreon

I'm so glad you're back to making modular videos! Thank you for your efforts. Always love them, whether I am interested in the particular module features or not.
That final segment, the 2 tiered envelope control - What a brilliant idea! Thanks as always!
It's not a DivKid filter demo without a good-old YOI (9:15). Good to see you back, Ben!
Quality content Ben! So much to learn here. Keep it up mate.
Awesome sounding filter. Great work, as usual DK!
Glad to see you again! Thanks for another informative video. What a nice sounding filter!
So glad to have you back doing reviews Ben!
So glad to see you making videos again, Ben! Always a huge pleasure to see ya. Your studio looks great!
I haven't watched one of your videos for a while. The video quality, the shot selection, the careful dressing of the patch cabled really brings a lot of value to the viewers... and the sponsor. All of that comes at a cost and it's appreciated.
Glad to see you back! Hope you're doing well.
I want to leave some love here for the new style of your videos, nice to see your face and also some funny little things like the plants in your case, all this makes it even better to listen to your input ❤️
We missed you mate! Great vid as always
Was just watching your videos on Ripples and Popple before seeing this notification. Happy to have your videos back!
Nice to see the Turing Machine in here.. still using it in almost all of my patches after all those years
This filter sounds beautiful
ho yes a new video of Ben ! These VC ADSR looks dope !
Back in full force! Thanks for sharing your modular secrets in this (sponsored) format, no matter what the naysayers say!
What a great sounding filter!
Absolutely
Welcome back! We missed you!
Genius stuff Ben !
He's back! Yes!
As much as I love the divkid logo, it’s cool to see your face (mug) so much!
Nice to see you back making, as always, informative and inspirational videos, more please! worth it just to hear you pronounce tubby too :)
tubby! ha. I'll have to talk about tubby custard (from the Teletubbies) in a future video.
@@DivKid tooby coostard! would make my day!
😀
excellent work
Accent patching brilliant! Square bass dope!
Love the succulents broooo, the filter is even cooler
Excellent video thanks a lot !!
Nice module pile back there!
Welcome back Indeed!
Great idea to mix two envelopes for dynamics
succulent in the damn rack lol oh so meta. glad to see ya back marble moufff
At this point the likes are double the number of views, that says a lot about how people think about you mate =) ❤👍
Hey Ben, I just wanted to let you know: Between the synths in your background and the ceiling there is space for more synths! :) Great video as always!
Sounds like a great filter - very versatile. Not in stock at Schneider's yet, so let's hope.
Two videos this month? Giving thanks!
Wonderful
thank you Divkid
Great video Ben! Lots of great ideas in here. When do we get a studio tour? I’m interested in seeing how you set everything up.
Resonance compensation is a wonderful development
Thanks ☺️
I love the form of demo and tutorial. Thanks
You're the boss ...
Wow, this one sounds really phat. I always bugged me that my Dfam loses so much bass when I crank up the resonance, this looks good as an alternative filter.
I love the DFAM but I do wish it had that resonance compensation.
I can proudly state that I've clicked like in the first 3 seconds
new divkid videos 💖
Ordered already ) with Cali OSC and EN129 OSC.
keep 'em coming!
Dannysound modules look and sounds amazing. Shame about strictly DIY.
Best thing I found with that is to find someone that can build the DIY kits for you (for a commission / price) and then you can have one arrived assembled. Albeit just taking a bit longer.
Be nice to hear a song like what Red does
I am aware Happy Nerding do a similar filter MMM VCF but the bass compensation sounds better on the Dannysound?
You may not be green but you are still my little modular yoda
The button for lp/bp/hp also doubles for distortion versions of those same modes!
it didn't when I made the video. The new version does though.
Ah, I didn't know there were different versions! Thanks for a very inspiring video, this sold me on the MML!
No worries, they did a bit of a soft update to the module when it went SMD and assembled. Welcome additions as I'm a fan of saturation anywhere I can get it! :)
Thank you for the kind words too.
would be cool if you would make the ikarie filter!
@DivKidVideo What is your all time favorite eurorack filter?
Anyone know a good builder of danny sound modules for the DIY adverse among us?
could you review the linnaeus?
Hello, thanks for the request. I don't have one, but do have a queue of other things to get through so it's not likely. Interesting module though that I would like to get into in the future.
Can you do a vid on how to get my Mordax Data to display video of you playing git? thnx
Like.
Pls more!
You on guitar + modular magic =
Hey nice video, where did you get the plants idea from?
plants in my case? I've been all about organic matter where life not only grows but flourishes. The majesty that imparts on the stability of my clocks, the tone of filters and depth of my FX is unreal.
Joking aside I have plants around, I like poking fun at things and a bit of silliness.
@@DivKid nice. I only put them in my case to make the vids look a bit nicer really but hey! Your channel is the absolute nuts and it’s always a pleasure to watch, all the best from here.
Yeah looks nicer than the bottom of an MDF case. Thanks!
I can only find DIY of this Filter.
Hi Randy, that's right it's a DIY kit available through Thonk. I know very good DIY builders who will build DIY kits for people. Let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch with someone.
Next step: tiny plants inside the unused sockets of your modules.
@1:48 Those aren't pot plants, my dude.
Doesn't look especially skiff friendly. Oh yeah... 55mm depth... damn, that's worse than Expert Sleepers, so it won't even fit in a deep 4MS pod.
Nice sounding filter. Horrible little trim pots. WHY? Just make it a few HP wider and put proper knobs on the damn thing :-@
