- What if I tell you have never bought shito in my life? Mama had me making shito for my big sister as early as 13 years🙄. Once I perfected it, she never made it her business again. So when I went to secondary school, I always made my own shito. Believe me when I say you won't regret trying this recipe.
Ingredients.
1.5 gallon canola oil
2.5 lb smoked shrimp
3.5 lb smoked herrings
20 bay leaves
2 cups hot chili powder
½ cup crushed pepper
10 large onions
300 grams garlic
2lb ginger
3 tablespoons Maggi
2 tablespoons coriander seed
4 tsp rosemary
4 tsp black pepper
3 star anise
15 calabash nutmeg
3 cups tomato paste

I love how organised you are and it's so amazing that you have your own shito brand for sale. Awesome! One other tip we were taught growing up to ensure shito preserves well, is to always and only ever use a CLEAN and DRY spoon/fork to scoop some out...otherwise it will start to go mouldy within days!

Without the dry shrimp and herrings it’s not Shito so it might wanna find another food
Dry different mushrooms is a good substitute but unfortunately it wont taste like the real deal
