What a great idea! I've been looking for a simple, not to thick, neck gaiter to keep my neck warm while riding without wearing a traditional long winter scarf but this is a WAY BETTER idea! I guess I'll put those old silk scarves of my Grandmas to good use!! Thanx Rick!!

Many thanks for this video. We don't wear wild rags much in this part of Texas. It turned off cold today and I found my excuse to wear a wild rag today, but forgot how to tie the durn thing. Your video was the best on youtube to successfully help me. MANY, Many thanks.

I wear my wild rags all time up here north of Dallas, even when hot, I wet it, it protects my neck from sun and cool air blows through the wet sick and keeps me cool.

The more we think we are different than other tribes the more alike we are, this reminds me of the shemagh the middle eastern tribes wear and for the reasons, now our military guys over there are wearing shemagh or wild rags if they were home.

Warm in the morning and cool in the afternoon, I always wear two which is more functional than one could ever imagine. Cold weather keeps the draft out , warmer afternoon soak in water while it’s still on you. Lastly , I was out working my ranch last fall early morning in middle of nowhere getting ready for a drive to get my stock closer to the cabin during the fall hunting season as my lower pasture borders BLM land and well it appears that some people that were trying to be hunters from the lowlands of Texas thoughts that anything over 9000 feet in elevation becomes a Elk and I am truly one ugly Elk that was shot twice at almost to the second as these clowns from Texas were shooting at one of my pack llamas which both missed and both shot me instead and well I used one upper I’m and one lower of my leg that was shot both wounds in between and then when I finished up drove my self to my upper pasture finished up chores and filling water troughs then drove myself the two hours to the hospital. I didn’t bleed out and prior to taking the neckerchiefs off and using as a turnakits my boot filled with blood saved my life

The only thing I might add to the video about the 4 square knot is a safety issue with it. It is not a slip knot. Keep that in mind when you are wearing it while riding. A low hanging branch getting caught on it could ruin your weekend. You know turning your wild rag into a wild noose.

Question of the day --- Where I currently reside ( Philadelphia suburbs ) , there isn't too many cowboy/western type folk in this area . I have always wanted to live that lifestyle but got caught up with work and raising a family here for the past 23 years . (once they are all moved out , I will be re-locating out west . Montana or Colorado hopefully. Now that my kids are pretty much all grown , and I just retired (disability retirement) , I have been spending most of my free time at a local horse farm ( volunteer work - trail guide and ranch work ) . I am pretty much alone over here when it comes to dressing western style . If I am not in my Wranglers and Abilene boots and Stetson , I am in Carhartt jackets and shirts and jeans/pants . I have always wore a bandana . ( just the standard paisley bandana that you can buy anywhere ) . But just recently , I purchased 2 silk jacquards (wild rags) . One is a paisley black and tan , and the other is paisley raspberry and white . They are really nice !! ( not cheap either ) My wife and kids think that they are for women only . I never cared what people say about my wardrobe , but , I don't want to be walking around wearing a ladies scarf . Should I consider a more solid color silk scarf or is the Raspberry/white and Black/tan fine ?? (both are paisley)

I get a problem here at 8:48 where the video freezes but the audio is still going. been refreshing, might just be my stupid internet who knows, I still listened through the video because shit never falls out of your mouth and if it ever happens then I will collect it and name it "Ricks Golden Mouth Manure" and give it a nice pink fluffy frame
I still have a lot of vids to see and listen to as you answer a lot of questions in all of them but between the lines for those that care to pay attention

Another use for the bandana is to cover your face. To protect you from dust or to hide your identity.
