Ive been riding for just over 6 years and ive never learned how to do this. Thank you so much, now I wont have anxiety about tying my horse to the stall😂
You are welcome, ShadowKat. We're glad our video was helpful! Visit our channel and subscribe for more how-to videos. Happy riding!
ShadowKat this shows how riding knowledge doesn’t translate through horse knowledgeable
Lol same. I’ve been riding for about 5 years and I never had to use it bc my horse was always in his stall already and after the lesson all I. had to do was weave it through the bars bc he needed to be tied that way.
WOW COOL STORY DAWG
haha me to
I just adopted my first horse (I’ve been riding since age 9) and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you!
This method works for items tied to the back of my tractor for my flatbed trailer work. Thank you for the quick lesson, you saved me a bunch of heart ache and headaches
I needed ! Tysm! Ive watched this over and over!❤
Thank you so much! I have been riding for 3 years and the tie my trainer uses is similar to this, and I can’t pick up on things when done quickly (which is what she does) so this helps a bunch!
Thanks! I’ve moved onto a stage where I have to tack up and untack and do everything independently and I never knew how to tie a horse to groom but now I know thanks
Thank you Natalie, I do not have a horse, but do have a boat, making this very helpful! Boats try to get away too.
You are very welcome John, we are happy to help! ~Katie, RW
I would recommend that you use a "bowline" to tie your boat up. The knot is named after it's purpose: the knot that you use to tie the bow of the boat with a line(rope).
This is awesome, although with my memory I will probably forget this by the time my riding lesson starts... Yikes
Glad you enjoyed it, Missilhaam. Happy riding!
That happens to me as well
Missilhaam lol same and I’m about to go rn 🤣😂
Same
Lol I have my D test today this video really helped :]
Thank you! I keep pulling a blank with this knot
I'm so glad you had an amazing tutorial
Thank you so very much Natalie for sharing and showing us how to tie this quick release knot.
I don't have any horses, but I used this knot to tie my fishing rod to the pier post. In the past, I lost a couple of rods that were pulled from a pier by big fish. It is very easy to release the knot from the rod when the fish is pulling it. After using this knot I no longer lose a fishing rod. Again thank you!
We are so happy to help Bo Ek Houl! Please let us know if you have any further questions or comments. ~Katie, RW
Thanks so much I've been trying for 2 years to get this knot 😧 and finally i found a video that helped and that is this one thanks so much 😘😄

I learned this from my daughters trainer and it’s super helpful and it easy once you do it a few times 👍🏻
Not JUST for horse restraint! I used this video to properly review how to tie a quick release knot for patient restraints at my hospital! Thank you!
I've been riding/training off and on for eleven years and when I went to horse camp I HAD to quickly learn how to do a knot. 😂 my trainer didn't care which one just as long as it was a good one and was quick release able. Thank you for this!
Wow, this was the best video I've seen on this!
using this to tie my pants thnk youuu
When your in pony Club and this is the first thing u learned
🙋♀️🙆♀️

Edestron the wicked troll BAHHAH I CAME 2ND IN MY SHOW JUMPING CORSE
Thank you so much! My last barn had cross ties and I recently moved to a place with an outdoor barn where I would need to learn this.

Perfect! Super clear for knot-challenged people!
Thanks so much! This really helped. Now that I'm cantering and so on I need to be more independent. And I won't have to wait for my trainer to come and then be awkward... So, thanksssssss
I like it! Sheer elegance in its simplicity.
I’m in 4H this year and my leaders daughter wants me to learn this so thank you so much now when I go to the next meeting July 17th I will be good to go and impress her Thank you again

Thank you. I deliver furniture and usually tie down with a rope and my knots were shit until now haha. I’ll keep it in my mind if I ever need to tie a horse down.

You are so welcome Adria! ~Katie, RW
Thank you. This helped a bunch!
Thank you. My hands forgot but not mm y love for horses . They treat you like you treat them
Only thing that compares to horses is a dog, only because a horse can't sit beside me
Thank you! This really helped me
Thanks from Thailand, this is a truly useful information. TMNida#
Awesome video, very helpful!
This Knot looks a lot like the way I roll up my extension cord at work. We call it a daisy chain or Carpenters knot. Love your video.

good job
Not me always putting my hand through the loop 🤫 I had to take half a year off of riding due to an injury so before I go back my anxiety told me that I have no idea how to do a quick release knot so here I am 😅
Great job on the video!
Thx so much for this video I subscribed
Thanks, there's so many videos that don't provide ways if you have a horse that can undo almost anything:) At my barn one of the horses can open the Arena door with her lips and teeth. This will work for her.
Laya Luck let You are welcome, Laya! Thank you for commenting and subscribing! ~Julie
thank you . great explanation easy to follow.
love your video
The best one I've seen
Probably the simplest quick-release knot. Unlike more complicated knots, it's easy to tie even after the rope gets older and stiffer.
this also is excellent for tying boats to a dock or mooring line. first used it for my boat and then with my horse.. thanks for video cleared up a couple of points Canada
So happy this was helpful to you, Gayle. Thank you for watching and commenting. :)
we arent here for boats. we are here for horses. lol

You are very welcome Julia! We are currently looking into shooting more informative videos, so we appreciate you feedback! Please let us know if you have any further questions or comments. ~Katie, RW
If you loan a horse you should know those two things
This was so helpful and thankyou so much!! Could you do a video on how to trim hooves:-)
Bank Robbers Hitch is my go to knot
Highwayman's knot or bank robbers knot.
Nice work.
My kindergarten brain : "make an A and put the right loop through the left loop"
"Unfortuntly I don't have a real horse with me today." Audience: "Ahhh, sigh..."
For those interested, the first knot is called a Siberian Hitch. And the second is a variation of a Daisy chain.
THANK YOUUUU
This is going to make riding with a leadrope so much easier and tying easier cause I keep forgetting how to do the quick release knot
We are happy to hear this how-to video was helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or comments. Happy Riding. ~Katie, RW

You are such a lifesaver! I am at wrangler in training camp, and I keep failing at the knots and embarrassing myself!
+CaptainWhiskerz We're so glad our video is of help. Have fun at camp! ~Julie
I only use slip knots when working with my horse, especially when he is wearing a rope halter. Simple to tie, easy to untie.
This is soooo good. Is it not a Truckies knot? You do it so well and use a fine red rope and it is easy to follow. I get to it when it clears up and yes I will use the best rope I can find! Richard
Hadn't heard of truckies. A lot of folks call it daisy chain. Glad you liked the video, thank you for watching and commenting, Richard.
It's called a Halter Hitch (the first part). The final part is called a Chain Sinnet, pretty sure. I was wondering if horse people ever use anything else (Highwaymans Hitch etc) or is that the industry standard these days?
I have now mastered the Truckies hitch but am not able to help You with much more. It took some time but am 80y old and the head does know!
Richard Habicher
If the horse pulls hard in a panic it will tighten this so it cannot be untied. I ran a stable for horse-back safaris with over 50 horses for 5 years in South Africa and often had to quick release. Trust me, this one is close, but will not work if the horse panics.
Rather try:
RING KNOT - This is a good knot to use for tying a horse to a ring of any kind. Twist the loop in the rope a few times and put the twisted loop through the ring. Then a loop (in the end going to the horse) can be put through the loop created by the twists, creating a second loop. A loop is then made in the working end of the rope, to put through that loop, leaving a tail on the working end of the rope that can be pulled for untying.

Thank you for this. My horse did that today and I couldn't get the knot untied at all. Luckily I got him calmed down and then someone gave me a new lead rope to secure.
@@Grushenke89 Phew!
Thank you I needed to know this I used to know how to do be able to but I stoped doing it and forgot😅
This will help a lot because I keep forgetting how to do it
Thank you so much! I recently purchased my first horse and I didn't now how to tie it correctly, and I was running into some problems (nothing serious, thankfully). This video really helped!
Hailey Stratton glad to hear our how-to video was helpful to you. Congrats on your first horse! How fun!

Riding Warehouse Will do!!
I've had a quick release get pulled too tight too realease.....I knew a veterianarian who had a way to prevent this, but can't remember the method. Anyone know the step?
Thank u for this video as it is so helpful!! But I would leave a bit longer for the horse so it can reach down easily to eat or drink
Thank you Da Rainbow Kitty Kat for your suggestion! ~Katie, RW
That's okay
is this the traditional pony club knot?
