    Thank you sir for this clear and simple demonstration of a quick release knot. I am used to cross ties but a lot of barns I go to to don't necessarily have this set-up, or it gets too crowded, so I have to come up with an alternate plan. Knowing how to tie this knot is super helpful...thank you!!😊

    It’s interesting seeing other methods of hitching horses. I’ve always been taught to never hard tie a horse directly to a rail. We always attach the line to baling twine, which allows the horse to break free in the event of the horse spooking or panicking. We use a chain sinnet/daisy chain which is extremely simple to teach to students and children, and is also quick release and prevents the loose end of the lead rope from getting underfoot of the horse and risking tangling.

    Problem with this is that my horse is too smart and pulls the end, great for a horse that doesn’t know how to do that, I have to do a different slip knot multiple times which gives me time to go get things before he undoes it all.

    • @allygrech2194
      @allygrech2194 Před 7 lety +4

      I use this knot...it's really good because it doesn't tighten up when the horse pulls back...the old quick release I used to use would tighten to the point where I had to cut the rope with a knife.

    • @CarterRanchHorse
      @CarterRanchHorse  Před 4 lety +2

      We typically "wrap" the leadrope for a horse that pulls back. Once they have a better understanding and preparation for being tied, then we progress to a "knot, depending a lot on the horse, the situation, the environment, etc.

      Only much more secure. With a bank robber or highwaymen knot if it’s not taut you can actually pull the loop through and it will become undone. But this version even if the rope is not totally taut the knot won’t become undone. Thank you.

      No this is not the highwayman’s knot/hitch. This fact becomes obviously after you examine both knots. Plus if the highwayman’s knot is not pull taut, shaking/pulling it will undo the knot (many CZcams vids show this). This knot/hitch even if not taut will not slip out. Thanks for the video.
