X1 was always a great entry level BMW. Affordable by those means
Can't wait to get this car, there's nothing that I don't like. Things that I like the most;
1. HUDisplay
2. Panoramic
3. Auto tail gate
4. MORE leg room at the back and the option to slide to make more room for luggage
5. Centre screen looks nicer than X3
+Jimmy Christian There is one thing that I dont like. It's built on a front wheel drive base
+Likashiii Most people will use it for city drive so its sufficient enough

I might end up with one of these if I can't get a good deal on a glc or a fully loaded gla from similar year. These x1 come fairly well equiped for the money, I just wonder how reliable they are as a long term vehicle
Looks good but wish it had LED turn signals (in the rear) to be nit picky.

What is the ground clearance on this new x1? I read somewhere else thats it actually a few mm less than the previous generation , but you mention otherwise.
I love this car so much---I own it. It's perfect for me and two little ones. I love zipping around town ;) A little turbo lag, but nothing a software update won't take care of.

Nice car .. Altho can't help feeling the dash looks just slightly low rent in places. I live part time in Thailand where this car will probably start at around 40k(2.2m)when it comes out next year. Does it justify the large price jump from an HRV?

Our family just signed for one today. MY GOD this thing is good (2016 DEFINITE improvement over the 2015). We weren't even gonna look at BMW when we were car shopping between the lexus NX200t , audi q3, and mercedes gla because the only reviews online were of the 2015 x1. This thing absolutely blows the other 3 out of the water. It combines the comfort of the nx, high quality interior feel of the q3, and well... mercedes gla 250 was garbage so im glad the x1 doesnt take anything from that. Surprisingly little turbo lag makes this feel like its got a much bigger engine. 10 out of 10! Maybe extra half a point for the kicking thing that opens the trunk.

Good review - this is massively improved. Though, I would twke a discovery sport or 5 door evoque over this. But I like knowing a Land Rover can go anywhere.

RecombuCars, strange you should say that x25 doesnt feel as fast as paper stats suggest. Most people on youtube say it's actually very fast. Have you tested an Audi Q3? Curious of your impressions of the comparably equipped Q3 and GLA.

Good review but bmw don't use bmw transmission in this particular model.
No mention it's FWD? That's another reason they squeezed more space in cabin.
Awesome review. Glad I found your chanel. But just for the record, how tall are you please? I'm 6"2 and I always have to take that into account when buying a car.

Hi, does the sdrive X1 also perform the same as an xdrive?
The sdrive is 2wd so It has less grip on slippery surfaces.

Thanks for your review. I'm from the US want to buy one if these by my stupid husband says they aren't reliable. Go you know about reliability and if maintenance is kept up do they tend to have problems down the road?
Don't know if you eventually got the car but BMW are known to be luxury and not reliable so your husband is good to be cautious. However the X1 doesn't seem to be that bad in reliability compared to how they do on their previous cars. BTW did you get the car? Is it reliable?
Finally someone did a review which justifies the X1. Folks, X1 is 100 times better than 3 series.
I don't really know bout the gear shifter why not keep the ones you get in the others? but it's a much better looking car. Great review

Hey MrTheSetter. Yes I think it would be easy to drive, there are lots of safety systems like auto braking if she's not paying attention, and it'll make her friends think she's cool. If you can afford it, go for it. I personally would give my child a smaller car to start with if its their first time, but cars are generally bigger in America anyway so maybe this is what you consider small.

Looking into the datasheet I was very surprised to find out this car has the smallest gas tank comparing with other cars, only 50l or 11galons gas tank meaning the owner has to spend most of the time fueling the car instead of driving...The autor can mention something about that in his marketing... J

+Boris Terekidi (Xi Digital) the old x1 was a disgrace to bmw. autotrader.ca has over 500 of them most people regret it and the resale is the lowest in bmw history. I hope this new x1 holds its value a bit better! Looking good so far.
+Boris Terekidi (Xi Digital) I hear you. The new one is such a huge improvement, it's pretty unfair to people who bought the previous one. I will say though, that when the 2014 was *new,* I thought they looked really cool, and were *very* practical cars. So it's still great car! But I would be a bit pissed off, too.
Hey at least the previous version is just as fast and some people like the look of the long bonnet...not to mention fact previous gen was rear wheel biased. Still, I'd take 2016 any day and I did buy one.

Not so sure if to believe this review, most recent ones say that the previous X1 version is a better vehicle, this one only looks better.

Rear wheel drive or all wheel drive
better handling
intelligent gearshift
50-50 weight distribution
base on 3 series
Actual version:
Front wheel drive or all wheel drive
not as fun handling
dated gearshift (automatic retro type)
not 50-50 weight distribution
based on a mini countryman
That car looks high spec. Not sure the base model even comes with electric seats

Resell and vaule for money are also important. It might be around 10k cheaper than X3 or X5 but how will it hold vaule after 5 years with 70k miles on the clock. X1 does look appealing as small SUV family car. Do you really have to own G wagon or X5? Or is it just about showing off how deep is your wallet and self esteem treatment?
It'll probably hold its value really well. I Agree about not really needing a larger car. Most people will do fine with the X1.

The X1 can't tow a boat, you can't get a quick version, cargo room is much less than the X5, and although the X1 interior is nice, with a few options the X5 is simply stunning. There's also the fact that the X1 is FWD based, so it's not a true BMW in that sense, more of a fancy MINI. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it's worth noting.
+Kev50027 the price different also stunning, if u want to tow a boat get proper 4x4, x1 more like a city car imo but compare last version this one way more better looking and equipped

It looks like a BMW, it has BMW quality and refinement, but it doesn't have the BMW DNA ( RWD bias - more fun and 50/50 weight distribution - more agility, better braking , less understeer) - not a big deal for most people.
so are the x3 and x 5 bigger a d has the 2015 ones come out?

Clown shoe?, maybe. But don't forget many people liked and bought the previous gen. (Me included). I for one, don' think it's been all improvements with this new generation. There are tradeoffs. To name a few: fwd vs rwd and it now looks decidedly SUVish (generic mom-mobile). Nevertheless, it was a good review you made. You have now +1 subscriber
