Its clearly without doubt Corporate fraud with intent to meet personnel KPI objectives for personal financial reward through criminality and fraud were rife within the Post Office.

    £2million is £50,000 a year for 40 working years equivalent. So we're casually talking about sums that are more than the lifetime earnings of many people reading this.
    We need to be careful how we hand over sums like this, from the public purse. Paula Vannell was paid £2,000 per day (£760,000 per year). She oversaw this disaster which will cost US , the public, billions in compensation payouts.... got a CBE for her work, and millions in salary. It's fking wrong. We, the public pay for this at both ends. Her salary plus the cost of the mess she helped create.

  • @mick4862

    When you consider that people lost there houses and the cost to replace a house now, it makes £600,000 an insignificant amount. I would consider it yet another massive insult.

      The government shouldn't be offering to pay a single penny in compensation, why should the tax payer bail out the corrupt elitists again? The only money that should be paid out needs to come from all of those responsible, from the CEO of Fujitsu right across the board to the corrupt judges that found these people guilty without a shred of evidence, they should all have their assets seized then distributed evenly amongst the victims of this dire charade and their families. Again, it shouldn't be up to the taxpayer.

    • @mick4862
      @mick4862 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@Norfolkbiker50 I agree with to a point, my comment really was referring to my opinion that the amount on offer is derisory when you account for what they have been put through.
      However how that is funded is a different point. I agree with you about the post office board and certain staff, especially the ceo and also fujitsu etc, however I think the government also has a level of responsibility inn all of this because they basically ignored it for so long.

    • @Norfolkbiker50
      @Norfolkbiker50 Před 4 měsíci

      @@mick4862 hey Mick, these poor souls should definitely be compensated but not by the government, it's not their money. That would be like me stealing money from you, getting caught then stealing from your parents to pay you back. What needs to happen is criminal prosecutions against all of those responsible, including whichever government minister awarded Fujitsu the horizon contract in the first place because they already knew it wasn't fit for purpose. Then all of those responsible or culpable need to have their assets seized then distributed evenly amongst the victims. Even if they were awarded a million pounds each, that's probably one days interest for a company like Fujitsu. The next question should be "given that Fujitsu knew horizon wasn't fit for purpose should they have existing contracts cancelled"

    • @mick4862
      @mick4862 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@Norfolkbiker50 Yes I agree with you, All I am saying is that it goes even deeper than that, There are several ministers and civil servants and judges that just let this drag on and basically ignored it, They also need to be held to account and if found culpable should have assets seized. There are so many people involved in this in one way or another. The post office needs to be shut down and rebuilt from scratch with no powers to prosecute anyone, That is the job of the CPS.
      The whole system of government and justice needs to be revamped, its archaic. The establishment have been sat on their arses manipulating the system for far to long. Looking after their own and their mates at the expense of everyone else.
      Just my opinion, I wait to see what happens but I have to say my expectations range from extremely low to non existent.
