Here's what you can't see on the Las Vegas Strip as F1 construction continues

- The Bellagio fountains are on just about everyone's list of top Instagrammable spots on the Las Vegas Strip, but they are just a supporting act when Formula One rolls into town.
This has shitshow written all over it. Why did the city ever agree to this?
It was Clark County since the race is technically outside the city limits. Clark County commissioners sold us out again
MONEY
Because local politicians received suitcases full of cash from F1 organizers. It's happening because of corruption.
💵
Money but they never had a F1 race down the Strip before. Of course they are going to run into some unforeseen problems.
If this becomes an annual event, I imagine tourism suffering during these two months as grandstands are built and iconic views are blocked. Fingers crossed it makes for cheap rooms, I'll be happy to visit and do my part to keep your economy doing well as half the strip is closed to pedestrians in the leadup to a race.
I heard LV signed a 10 year contract… good luck
Not cheap rooms sorry 😂.
They screwed up and screwed everyone up they got their bribe money while you suffer though.
Tourism will skyrocket at the same time
@@alexj.5207*rich and elite* tourism will skyrocket, had to make a correction.
You know the sad thing is the construction they do is faster than the construction that usually take years. Never do you have so much construction going on at once. They do one little section several months, the next several months to do another section and then another.
Have been crossing Maryland PKY & Charleston for over a YEAR plus ..... and still not finished, only ONE of many street works in this situation ALL OVER Las Vegas & N.L.V. ! .... companies doing those jobs are ALSO laughing all the way to their banks !
Next F1 Builds a Houses
because the workers actually get paid when they do this kind of construction :D
I just got home from 2 weeks in Vegas. The experience on the strip wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. Constructions everywhere, lots of fencing, trees cut down etc.
not gonna lie this is some crazy idea to build a race track right into the resorts, i can imagine loud bass reving from the racers. not to mention to break apart and rebuild pavement and then to tear it down after the event. I would have thought they build a racetrack rather in the nearby piece of the desert
Huh?
F1 cars are less bass and more high pitched screaming.
They basically did that in 1982 turns out no one wants to see just sand
Yea street circuit is pretty popular in motorsport. Its not new, there's Long Beach gp, Monaco, Singapore, and many more.
@@BboyVReckyeah and for F1 streets circuits usually suck for the actual racing.
NOBODY is excited for F1 in Vegas except those expecting a check from it
Yes and I'm looking forward to it$
I'm excited
Why would a major tourist attraction like Las Vegas approve a major construction project to build a massive race track and stands right into the Las Vegas Strip’s infrastructure? This will definitely have a negative impact on the tourism. Why couldn’t Formula One build a massive permanent race track and stadium in the wide open desert? I live in Las Vegas and this project has been a huge nightmare so far!!!😡
It all ready has they known it! People should file law suits and look what they did cut trees and no shade. These people are brain dead. People will not visit during these events wait till you see or hear of the fiasco.
That’s like asking why would any stadium host one of the biggest events in the world? I don’t know let me think…
BOYCOTT F1!!
from Red Rock canyon to Hoover Dam
That's what we do! Move back to California if you don't like it💯
There must be some backdoor deals to make this all happen. Cash is king. They agreed to all of this without a firm plan or timeline?? Months of hell for a car race. What a joke.
The irony........
Fast cars ........super slow traffic
First time Las Vegas held a F1 race down the Strip. Of course this is new to everyone.
Clark County Commissioners didn’t know what this was going to do but they approved it anyway?!!
RECALL CLARK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS!
They are morons if many didn’t tell them think things thru they didn’t care ( bribes in their pocket) while you struggle. File law suits this isn’t right!
this is a tourism town that needs these events. if you don't like it then get the flock out and go back to california.
We don't need F1 on the strip. I like F1 but to have it on the strip is stupid. You do realize that a good amount of tourists come from California?@@daciefusjones8128
@@daciefusjones8128tourism town that prioritizes short term events over their most iconic attractions lol
They were too busy counting the cash in their pockets.
i was just there and had no issues with any of this, at all. the only thing you can’t see is the fountain show, but with one critical thinking maneuver, you can if you go into the Bellagio. No taxi/uber driver had issues with it, and thought it was annoying but not game changing. Everything F1 related is visible with a monorail ride.
Can you still walk from hotel to hotel? I'm staying at Excalibur toward the south end next week and am not sure how I'll walk anywhere. This is giving me anxiety.
This is the first year next year will be quicker as lessons will be learnt and not much paving will be done
Any idea if all the construction stuff will be removed by this December?
Was it?
How will this circuit ready until november? 🤔
I assume the people who plan events like this know this will make Vegas money. Right now though, it looks like a colossal pain in the a$$ for anyone work works/travels there.
You are absolutely correct it is
Half a year to set up half a year to tear down only to set it all back up again for the next 10 years.
El Nino comin boi
Takedown is usually 1/3 to 1/2 time of setup. Depending on what is being left up.
Little concerning the fast paced development potentially raising risk of compromise.
I think so too. I expect things to fall. Either some track lighting or a grandstand. That track lighting is dangerous and there is no way to stop a person from climbing them.
i go to the local university in las vegas, and having to drive down and through this side of town 5 days a week is the worst. every street has cones blocking off whole lanes, entire streets have been blocked off too. the tourists should be the last ones complaining tbh, like seriously who gaf, just come back later. it’s us locals who really have to deal with this bs day in and day out. it’s terrible
All about the $$$$$$
what a mess!!
Going in a week or two - have booked a room with a fountain view in Planet Hollywood... that may just now be a grandstand view!!!
How was it ?
@@morataya97 could still see the fountains..
We were up on floor 33 but anything from about 10 up will still have a view.
All the construction means traffic is a mess on the strip.. ok mostly except for Friday and Saturday
That bridge is for ticketholders?! How can employees get in whos parking structures are inside the circuit?
They are allowed as well
I’m AVOIDING the Strip until this mess is over.
Brilliant idea. I just got back from my 2 week vacation in Vegas. The strip was a TOTAL mess.
@@Max34557 I planned to come during thanksgiving break right after the F1 event, not sure if I should cancel it....
As a local, this truly sucks. The juice is not worth the squeeze.
#Faliure1
That's a badass name
it's disgusting the madness on the strip.
Workers strike. This event will go down in history for its failure
With the SEMA SHOW happening on Oct 31 to Nov 3 or 4th, more than likely wont draw the usual business folks. When SEMA was happening, every year was BIG!!! yep! just saw SEMA site, they're going to have a "vehicle parade cruise" only....no exhibition run or demonstrations.
Lame. The strip is best for cruising to show off cars and low riders.
I have a feeling LV won't renew the contract when it's up, it will be a great spectacle during the race, but whew, for the people there and tourisim, it may not be worth it. They may have to re work layout if they decide to keep it there.
They already signed a 10 year deal. Las Vegas made a deal with the devil for this.
@@EricBurns1I would imagine they did there due dilligence and visted and spoke with local officials in other cities about how this impacts there citizens and tourits. I think they need to do a better job of traffic control and alternative routes. The night races in Singapore and Abu Daubi look amazing.
The commissioners all saw the bleachers, lighting, and fencing concepts! Horsehockey pucks
Well............there goes SEMA IGNITED!!!! that last venue for the SEMA SHOW week, needed barricades, lighting, fencing, bleachers for spectators....
No se por nadie protesto para q no quitaran el de fontana speadway ahí si es para carreras y tan hermoso y esa era una de las atracciones de california por años q injusticia😢😢😢😢
Where is the Mayor during all of this, to soothe our concerns and to build our confidence that this was the right choice? No where to be found!
while your mayor is dreaming F1 and Mario Andretti, another mayor is trying to hide facts about his county burning down...
He's probably enjoying his 5million cut from this project
A few are laughing all the way to the BANK ! ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ...
And you’re in the corner waiting to give out BJs.
Glas my trip to vegas was all last week. We got home thus past Saturday, couldn't have timed it better. Goodluck to anyone with upcoming trips, I hope you can reschedule.
I’m so sad because my trip there is from the 9th -15th we didn’t know this would be going on when we planned it
@@drayaa_amour me too, I didn't know it when I planned the trip to come from Nov 19-24...not sure if I should cancel or postpone my trip
@@natnik6525 Tbh it wasn’t that bad. Just had to schedule a little extra time for traffic and maneuver a little differently than normal to see certain sites on the strip like the Bellagio. We went on the ramp in front of the building for the water show instead of standing on the strip like normal. Some parts of the strip was closed off but I wouldn’t reschedule, it was still fun.
When did you go? In October?
@rickybobby7775 I left on September 23, they started closing sidewalks on the 24th. It was our 1st trip to vegas, and it couldn't have worked out any better for us. Can't wait to ho back this yr.
Apenas fui a Vegas y es un. Caos con lo delas carreras no lo disfrute y camine de más
Doing all this for one two hour races once a year. What a waist. They have wrecked the strip.
Why ? Destroying the strip out of greed....Sad times for Vegas!
good thing we did our vacation already. we talk to a lot of riders that we had for 5 days of stay. they all said they gonna take a day off until this thing is over so good luck out there lmfao
Insanity
locate the GRAND PRIX TO THE MCCarren Intl to red rock cyn to hoover dam
This is a nightmare of a project. I honestly hope this event is not successful and moves to a different location. Having it on the strip was one of the dumbest ideas ever. All this to cater to the wealthy who will be the only ones that will be able to afford a ticket. All while other normal tourists get screwed with high hotel rates, higher pricing in restaurants, limited experiences on the strip during the race. Who's pocket was lined to obtain this approval?!?!
F1 terorize Vegas peoples and tourist months and months....closing fountains, vulcano, cuttings trees...WHICH DIRECTION CITY GOINGS....??
File a law suit these morons don’t seem to care hit them in their pockets and watch the tune change! Moronic city and state! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏻♀️😡🤢🤮
Are you speaking for yourself or the tourists? Las Vegas is not a city you settle down in, if that’s really your concern, and what do you mean trees? You’re in a fucking desert, those tress are not indigenous to the land
All of this for rich peoples ability to watch one race? This is disgusting.
F1 was a terrible idea.
The moron who was talking about it either has Biden syndrome or just a brain dead casino mental ~ someone got drunk and took a bribe ~ workers call off and people boycott the airport restaurants no employees have the morons from the decision making process come serve their guest!
Pase apenas por ahí y seve muy triste ya lo están demoliendo nadie estuvo de acuerdo con eso y no les importo
Lol why would I want to go to vegas now?
#SchoolsOverStadiums
What a PITA, already cancelled my Vegas vacation because of all the madness. Isn’t the a perfectly good racetrack up north they could use instead???
Screw the f1 race we do not need it patition the council to get rid of it
WHO IS THIS EVEN FOR??
Im ready to skip the strip during my Oct business trip. They don't need our money when they already sold everyone out for corporate money. Let MGM and the rest of them recoup their money elsewhere.
Locals actually love this. We thrive on being original and creating exciting new activities to bring for tourists $$$
nah nobody will go. this looks horrible. loved vegas, but i wont pay to be at a construction side for my holiday. greetings from europe
No us locals don't like this. We moved because of it.
FU F1
That should be a t-shirt sold on the strip!
@mykelcohen great idea...but I'm sure the city aka MGM would get really angry and send their goons
Make it hashtag. It gets more attention #FUF1 one user called it #Failure1
Btw, I just uncoiled my garden hose..😂😂 but seriously they tried doing this asinine f1 bs in San Jose awhile back and cost tax payers $$$ and traffic in downtown and was a shitshow..glad they decided to not continue 🙄 😒
The Newer F1 "Street" races are "Boring" ..... Why - very little of cars racing & making passes - streets too narrow. The best F1 racing is on the tracks designed for F1 racing. I think with all the "Hype" and "Price Gouging" this race could be a Big Bust - Just My Humble Opinion
Bad bad decision Las Vegas I love racing but to block billion dollar casinos is terrible decision people come out there to take nice pictures of the family of the water fountain the casino. No it’s nothing but grandstands cut down trees obstructions bad decision Las Vegas it’s the gambling capital of the US. Not racing capital that’s Daytona and Indy wake up
They tore up the city for one rich guy that owns the F1 it takes me an 1 and a half to get home I hope this fails in their face you know some city people got greased for this
Sounds like a scam
Welcome to Las Vegas, now go home
this is gonna be a horrible race. its gonna be a fail
F1 racing has failed in every American city. Las Vegas thinks it can beat the odds. Just like Las Vegas sports will fail. People aren't going to fly there just to watch sports. It's up to Los Angeles visitors to fill the stadiums.
Las Vegas sucks now due to F1! Everything is over-priced and you cannot even access most of the Strip due to the rich people's race.
Tell Me your ruining The Strip without telling Me your Running The Strip
This F1 idea is BS!
maybe it'll work out for the best...maybe an f1 driver will push up daisies
Damn…..
You may think it was a bad idea but your response is nothing short of evil. Wishing someone dead because you feel inconvenienced? I suppose if you saw a depressed person standing on a bridge you yell for him to jump. Yes, in the excited states of America, the hate just keeps on growing.
rich man's blood sport@@pacificbob24
i CAN SEE THE WALL OF TRUMP coming soon
im not a fan of the way its being done... stupid
They moved faster for this than the Trop/I-15 interchange which is also vital to the economy.
Pathetic leadership.
For 3 months they are destroying business for 3 days. Pray it rains and hackers hack it!
This will make no money for Vegas. Thanks for the headache Mayor Goodman!
