Clean melted rubber belts on a cassette player capstan in seconds

Repairing possibly the best cassette player. This Hitachi D-W700's rubber belts had perished, which required some serious clean up. This short video describes a very effective way to remove and clean melted drive belt debris from the capstan using an Ultrasonic cleaner with methylated spirit or IPA.

had a cassette player that wasn't in use for about 15 years and one belt out of two was 100% melted. i just cleaned it up with isopropyl alcohol and soap. nice to repair and have a old device running again.

Hi Any idea on a Sansui belt drive turntable ? It s mess, all around over aluminium and plastic Regards

It's sticky messy stuff hey? You could try soaking the aluminum parts in isopropyl alcohol (assuming they can be removed) I think whatever you do it's going to be a messy job!!
