Just in case you didn't know, the owner of this channel, mosogotam, whose real name is John Perrone, sadly passed away April 5, 2020 from COVID-19. He was an absolute genius for this and all the other wonderful tracks he created. May he rest in peace.
March covid-19 2022 Thanks for the heads-up and acknowledgement about Mosogotam, he was a great DJ and Re-mixologist. May he rest in peace here with the music of our Soul-Generation.
March covid-19 2022 The guy that posted this track and countless other CZcams recordings was named Mosogotam. He recently passed away early 2021. He was a great DJ and talented Re-mixologist. I just wanted to give acknowledgement and pay respects for his contribution to "The best music of your life". He will be missed but not forgotten. May he rest in peace here, with the music of our Soul-Generation.
This was an era when music was music and you had to know how to sing. You did not have computers coloring in your voice. Either you had it or didn't. This was raw natural talent at finest.
First thing you notice about this song is the incredible Drumline , the Funk Brothers took no prisoners , once again it is safe to say that Berry Gordy knew exactly what he was doing when he put Motown together and brought the Funk Brothers in to play behind all of his musical acts at Motown pure genius and get this it was a two-story house that was converted into a studio that went on to record some of the greatest music known to mankind.. Forever Motown!!!!!!!!
Not only was Smokey Robinson a great singer a great songwriter and a great producer the number one man that helped a lot of the Motown singers get started because he wrote most of their music fantastic today Smokey Robinson
This song still swings in 2022, just like in 1962. mosogotam did a superior job by extending this song to the proper version. Perhaps I never met the gentleman, I am very sorry that he died.
Another Great Motown Group. What else can you say. Smokey Robertson & The Miracles. Fantastic. Like I've said before, Ain't no place like Motown. You can beat this music. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I grew up in the 1950s decade and as a little child who was too young to play a record in the hi-fi console, I loved this music. Now at 68 years-old, I love this extended song.
5 or 6 years old when this was released, love the extended version, remember watching my older cousins dancing to this in their living room, misty eyes, it was a great time to be a kid in the 60s and 70s..
It really was. I watched my high school cousins dance to this and many many other Motown sounds. Put us on the road to music in the 70's. Great time to be young
@@dorisjones1946 There were issues but still I wouldn't trade growing up back then for anything, the golden age of Rock, Pop and Soul, sadly we will never experience that special era again, we and all those still around were blessed witnesses. .
Smokey and the Miracles are absolute American Musical masters!!!They are a National Treasure and deserve every accolade we can give them!!!!ALL HAIL MOTOWN!!!!!!!!
Last posted 11 years ago ..I Keep coming back to this version ... I can hear the Legendary Funk Brothers Benny Benjamin - Bassist James Jamerson and guitarist Marv Tarplin working in tandem .....crushing the Funk !!! The late Mosogotam was a great record engineer....this version never gets old....his work lives on...
Now back when I was a teenager I only heard the 45 record of this song when Smokey was sing it but now I never heard the long version of this song sounds real good I have the whole CD but not the one that has more music to it
Smokey.... Motown....O.M.G !!!! Doesn't get any better than this. My teen years were filled with this fabulous music . What a great time for the most talented artists to shine , glad I was there . Thanks again Mosogotam !!
Can you imagine how cool it must have been to have been a Musician on these Songs. Benny Pap Zita Benjamin on Drums, Jack Ashford on Percussion and James Jamerson on Bass and I think Eddie Bongo Brown on Congas. This was a pivotal year because it was the Year the Group was Renamed Smokey Robinson & The Miracles in 1965.
Man I have been listening to Smokey and the boys since there was a girl in the group, BUT HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS VERSION OF GOING TO A GO GO MAN IT ROCKS !!!
i got the chills again ...just amazing to take classic musical art and pull it out in pieces. ...thank you for this I can't say enough.. I've always though that Jamerson walking up and down on his bass gives this song a bottom that is unequaled.
Even today Smokey Robinson's Voice still sound the same great voice now go on to that go go smokey you don't want to miss out and you didn't when you got there
Man, this thing rules. Even though Smokey is very popular and well-respected, in my opinion he is still underrated. This song and about a million others...
AHHHHHH!!!!!!!...what a way to end a snowy week! So crisp and clear, can't believe all the banter going on in the background. Looks like this is going to be a GREAT year!! all my best from NYC/Joey
This is a great mix, better than the very few alternate mixes motown occasionally puts out. Its like listening to these songs for the first time again, but better.
Covered by the Rolling Stones live in 1981, of course. So, I put their version and this one in my "Stones..covering" playlist. Thanks a lot for the upload!
Give it up for the guitar man! One of the coolest , off beat r&b rhythm parts ever. If he'd played the chords right on the "1" beat it wouldn't be so beautifully slinky. By playing around the downbeat, just 1/8 note behind the first beat on each measure he creates a whole different groove to work against the relentless bass line and floor tom. You could only rarely hear a bass drum on AM radio. But you could hear that pounding floor TomTom on the radio loud and clear and it gave Goin To A Gogo a uniquely powerful sound.
I was just listening to this song , my father asked me did I know what he was doing when this song was a hit , I told him no , he replied "I was in the jungles of Vietnam looking for Charlie"
The Dynamics of The Group had changed drastically. They went from being The Miracles To Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and from that moment on, Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore and Ronnie White would be in the background and treated more like background singers. Ronnie White also helped Stevie Wonder get into Motown and Co-Wrote My Girl for The Temptations. He also started a new trend of Rock Stars doing Real Estate. Howie Dorough (The Backstreet Boys) one of the Jonas Brothers, Vanilla Ice, Marlon Jackson & Bell Biv Devoe, and Jon Knight (New Kids On The Block) have also done it,
@@johnmcgovern6330 Yes but remember Smokey was his "Boy". He knew that Smokey was more "valuable" than the other Three Combined. He always took care of Smokey. Even in the 1970's when his Solo Career didn't have the same pizazz that Diana Ross had. He had Two Flop Albums, Where There's Smoke & Smokey's Family Robinson now most artists would have been dropped but not him. Also I'm sure he got a major slice of Humble Pie when he briefly recorded for Capitol Records and he probably didn't get the same treatment.
And quite possibly one of the best basslines ever as it holds up to most any recording today. Its a stellar bassline, stellar tune with impeccable vocals.
John, I've just spent 4 days solid of listening to your incredible video re-mixes in Aberdeen, Scotland. It's been like watching all of the best bits of my 66 year life roll out in front of me - with much laughter, and just a few tears. Can't begin to tell you how much I've enjoyed myself. Thank you very much :)
I LOVE THIS SONG, THIS WILL ALWAYS BE THE JAM, FOR SURE SMOKEY AT HIS BEST WITH MIRACLES, I LOVE YOUR EXTENDED VERSION THANK YOU FOR SHARING, RIP BOBBY ROGERS, SMOKEY IS STILL FINE AS WINE TO ME.

What a CLEAN and seamless mix. Thank you for the upload.
