The national government forbids criticism (free speech) of a corrupt monarchy; persecuted and imprisoned most of those who led the locally-approved independence referendum; arbitrarily bans other politicians from holding office for set periods of time; demands Castilian studies in the schools; and wiretaps, eavesdrops and spies on anyone they choose. I am sorry that you value money over liberty. No laughing matter.

They have succeeded economically because of belonging to Spain, even historically when they asked for higher taxes on foreign products so as to overcome France's competence of tissues. Did you know that in order to change the Constitution they need 60% of the Congress and Senate support, and later on the support of the majority in a national referendum? It is a Lost case nowadays.

Scotland's independent move is a minority, almost completely pointless now as the Scots are only seeing negatives about it. Last online vote over 75% would remain part of the UK, a huge raise from a few years ago. So no. Not a strong movement at all in Scotland.

Estelada is the independentist flag adopted from Cuban flag after the War of Independence of Cuba, that lots of Catalans were forced to go.

@TheNigmaticProdigy did you ever read the lyrics of the french anthem, La Marseillaise?? anthems are often chosen for historical reasons, songs that played an important role in the history of the country. "Els Segadors" is a very old catalan folk song which dates back to the "revolt of the reapers" in the 17th century against the Habsburgian King Philipp IV. Catalan history is the history of defending their territory against enemies. this anthem is quite appropriate
