    Dominar tu sabiduría es necesario en otros idiomas como el español. Qué suerte tenemos de tener un maestro como usted, como Rembrandt contándonos los secretos sublimes de la belleza y la magia en el arte contemporáneo. Gracias

    Thank you for your vlogs. So many times artists will only speak in fluffy platitudes. But you always approach it as the Craftsman and I think that's what makes your work sing.

    Love it! Sargent painted from life and it looked like the subjects liked having him paint them, like they were honored. I think they felt they could tell him their secrets and it would be safe. We might be losing that by painting from photos. Enjoy every day!

    I’m really digging this series of videos on your journey around the country.
    As a classical trained artist, how much were you observing Sargent’s portrait versus simply knowing the fundamentals of portrait shapes and structure? Also, were you thinking at all about Sargent’s deliberate brush strokes and command of the paint while you were working? I once read where he was very minimalistic in his approach to application of paint.
    Thank-you for sharing this, Cesar.

  • @klavassassini
    @klavassassini Před 5 lety

    Maestro Santos, very cool video!!! A few questions. The way you use watercolor, do you use some of the same techniques you learned with oil? Are they easier or harder than oils/acrylic? Would they be a good starting point for a beginner painter? I rarely see acrylics sketches and paintings like yours, so I admire your execution of the medium.
    Do you think you might some videos on drawing basics, like how to hold a pencil, in the future?

    Wow. Just found your channel. You are amazing!!!
    When you finished those drawings / paintings from the gallery; in the train with watercolor- did you do all that from memory/imagination, or did you take some pictures from the gallery to look at and follow as you painted them later?
    Maybe stupid question- I don’t know but I’m an artist myself, or so I believe 😋😉. and I’m very curious about how you more professional artist use reference.

    • @santocesart
      @santocesart  Před 5 lety

      Yes! I took pictures for reference of course!!

    • @eif324
      @eif324 Před 5 lety

      Cesar Santos ok. Sorry for asking. Even though you say ‘of course’ I just wanted to ask because I was curious to hear How you professional artist use reference photos because I’m
      Insecure about my own need to use references quite a lot and if I’m therefore not really that good because I need them to guide me. Sometimes I wonder if all you professional artist can draw everything from your head without references or you still use them regularly even though you have become such an master in drawing.
      But just my own stupid thoughts I guess :)

    • @santocesart
      @santocesart  Před 5 lety

      @@eif324 not stupid at all! Every artist work differently. I need to observe nature or any reference to maximize my expression. Other artists have trained from memory but to get naturalism you need to study nature.
