Eating Like The Locals In The Streets of Yaounde Cameroon

- There is no better way to explore a new city in a new country than through food and this is why we are taking you around the streets of Yaoundé, Cameroon to eat everything we can find and stop at some of the most popular attractions in town.
The street food is truly ingrained in the Cameroonians culture. From grilled fish, to akra beans and of course soya of 50/50 you can find a very wide variety of food from vendors all around the city.
Our personal highlight was our visit at the Briqueterie of Yaoundé. This is a true street meat paradise. The ambiance, and the delicious skewers for only 50 franc each really made our day from the start.
Other than the food, it was fascinating to drive around Yaoundé and explore the city and there is no better way to see the big picture than from the top of Mont-Fébé. Also make sure to stop at the Reunification Monument to appreciate it's unique architecture.
To end the day, we suggest a stop at the Panoramique Lounge locate on the 11th floor of the Hilton Hotel Yaounde (The best hotel in Yaounde). Not for the food but really for the bats. Seeing thousand of massive bats flying around the building at sunset is truly an experience of it's own.

Cameroon seems to be a foodie paradise. I am feeling hungry just watching you enjoy this street food ❤
Yeah they really have a nice street food scene.
Cameroons is really a foodie paradise.
I am a Cameroonian and I can confirm this 100%; you can come around some time too: you definitely wouldn't regret it 😉
Alex's English accent sounds like he's from the French-speaking part of Cameroon, but otherwise, his English is really impressive 👏
Où sont mes frères du continent camerounais 🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲
Welcome to Cameroon btw
Merci beaucoup mon ami!
Le continent🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲
It helps that Dave is bilingual and a native French-speaker who can manourve the language barrier so easily with Cameroonians. Going to a foreign place where communication is seamless makes the adventure unforgettable! 👍
I 100% agree! It really helped. 👍🏼🇨🇲
If people were open minded to other countries' culture and way of their lives instead of calling them poor, I believe the stereotypes would be kinda less.I agree there's poverty and there's also traditions and foreigners can't demistify none of it.Dave n mani are doing a good job
Thank you Sir !!
Infact, so many people.... especially here in North America and parts of Europe, had just started to realize their ignorance and biases after CZcams and Google opening their eyes especially about the African continent!
And especial thanks to D and T Mani's for your great work.
Even here in Canada or the USA, there's always poverty everywhere on earth.
I think traveling is the best way to open to other cultures and way of life. ❤️
We Cameroonians are not poor bro ❤
I love how chill and friendly the people are ❤❤
1:21 Dave cooling the skewer as Alex munches his 😂😂
Haha mine was straight from the grill! :p
I really hope Cameroon 🇨🇲🇨🇲 will soon develop more as a country in the next following years.
All the best to Cameroon :)
Unfortunately when all the 90 years old ruling the country since independence are unalived.
i love your cameroon videos!! I want to go so bad now
We had so much fun there! :D
In the Building watching from Baltimore MD 😎
Cheers mate! :)
Yeah Nice welcoming country l love my CAMEROON but the roads are still very dusty and careless in a whole beautiful capital without talking about the other regions 😅😅😅nice content
Thanks :)
Cameroon looks really green and beautiful and its interesting to hear Dave speak French with the locals hi Tracy!
Yeah Cameroon was super lush indeed!
Wow.
You both are amazing, great energy levels. I didn't expect you to go to Cameroon 🇨🇲. Lovely street food and lovely settings throughout.
Thanks for another exciting video.❤
Thanks a lot! It was such a fun trip!
Pistache (aka. mystery food), btw, is pumpkin seed paste mixed with spices and raw palm oil and then steamed in banana leaves.
Oh well, I liked it! Haha
In Yaoundé puff puff can usually be found everywhere. But they are only available in the morning and evening, not at lunchtime. The people there eat them every day for breakfast (at home and at the stall) and for dinner (especially at the cook's stall like one where you wanted to drink palm wine and in the restaurant like one where you ate grilled fish).
By the way, thank a lot you for sharing this great video.
We were just too late that day BUT we did find some in Kribi and it quickly became our favorite! So so good. 👍🏼
Beautiful!!! Seems like a really nice country, I have to add it to my list!
Great video, looking forward to much more! Specially Africa! Cheers 🍺🍺
We for sure had a lot of fun in Cameroon! :)
Woooow Cameroon looks good hopefully they will be more developed soon. The street food looks amazing. You guys just gave Alex a good job idea hopefully he gets customers 💕
Those little soya things were the BEST! :p
It is so sad that the Anglophone area is unsafe, i think zou would have loved exploring Bamenda and Buea
Maybe next trip :)
The start of the Cameroon series. We are here for it!
4 more videos coming your way! :) 🇨🇲🇨🇲🇨🇲
Hello!
Enjoying this video. May I add that while German settlers did arrive in 1888, it was not the beginning of this land then. There was always a rich cultural history in Yaounde, Cameroon and other colonised places in the world long before the 19th Century.
Thank you for the extra information. ❤️👍🏼
Thank you for the extra information. ❤️👍🏼
I love your vibes. Tracy seems to enjoy herself. I can't wait to see the rest of your Cameroon series
Thank you so so much! :)

Hey @DaveMani, so happy you have been to my country twice. As a suggestion, try Achu, Ekwang, Congo meat and Eru. You also need an authentic fish experience in Limbe. Great videos and awesome content.

Thanks bro for this magnificent piece 🤗🥰
My pleasure 😊
The things you eat Dave 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 nothing but respect. That could never be me. That green thing you have eaten ,It has reminded me of the blood at the Maasai homestead. All picky eaters one side. Such a great vlog. I am loving this Cameroon series. My best.
Hahaha! Fair enough, that little brown paste in the leaf was for sure... different! But I'm always willing to try! :)

We were then just left again
@@DaveMani
Oh.. have impressive exploration then bro.
So Alex the driver is from Nso
Possible
Dave and Tracy please compare Nairobi and Yaoundé in terms of development and infrastructure. Never mind the fact that there are French speakers in Yaoundé to make Dave’s day.
Why????
Nairobi is definitely better
Cameroon has been in standstill in terms of infrastructure development for 40 years because of its political situation. On the other hand, Kenya is one of the most touristic country on the continent. Therefore, Nairobi is definitely ahead of Yaounde in terms of infrastructure. I don't think the gap in terms of human development is huge though. I have been to both countries and that's my personal take on it.
I don't like comparing. Every country has some better and worst but is unique as well.
This is the problem with Africans always trying to compare. Maybe we should try comparing nairobi to newyork
it would be a pleasure to invite you to discovery the diversity of traditional food you can have in yaounde the next time you will come
Sounds like a plan! ✅
love you personality dave your a cool guy
Hey thanks a lot :)
❤❤❤❤
Bonne journée :)
I think Africa is growing fast than expected
For sure!!

You’re welcome 😊
For food, you have to eat with family, otherwise in Limbe, the beach, there are very good fish.
viva Cameroon
We did eat on the beach and wow that was good!
Yummy 😋😄😇
Sure was!
Hi Dave. Planning to get a7iv but realised that has 1.5 crop on 4k 60fps? Do you record on full hd and upscale to 4k?
I do 1080p 60fps.
Are you from Quebec? Nice video. I’m from Cameroon living in MTL
Oui, je viens de Laval. 😬
@@DaveMani C'est cool ça! Très belle chaîne. Tu as un nouveau abonné. 🫱🏿🫲🏻
Cameroon is best for food in Africa

Would love to know what is the 9 to 5 work you do as it seems to make you travel around Africa a fair bit.
Its nothing interesting trust me...
Come on tell the viewers@@DaveMani

Amazing!
Wow! Is it safe out there? There is war in South western Cameroon. Be safe.
Thank you, sir and ma'am.
We felt fine in Yaoundé honestly.
Both of y'all enjoying Yaounde
Of course :)
19:19 Imagine flying the drone inside a tornado of big bats 🤯
Yeah that would have been cool! A bit dangerous for the bats and the drone tho! hahaha
Great vlog Dave real nice food tour is this yaounde is in Africa?

No no no , I got bracelets AND that food thing.
@@DaveMani HOW ON EARTH can you acheive answering every comment ?? respect
Accra beans is called here beignets koki😂😂
Aaaah. It was pretty nice.
White man go cam chop 36 suya 😂 soteh add four
I love those things loll
Yaoundé was founded by German traders? How? That’s miseducation. Nonetheless I appreciate the video
My point what that Cameroon was a German Colony in the late 1800's.
That was corn beer not palm wine
It was 👍🏼
You guys have a great health insurance cover then. The way you guys are foodies and never experienced stomach issues well i'd like a stomach like that.
The more you eat around the world, the less stomach issues you get trust me :p
🇨🇲 still behind compared to Kenya 🇰🇪 you need to give us an honest comparison ?😅😅😅
I never compare countries.
In terms food we are blessed with abundance of food in Cameroon as compared to Kenya which is a dessert but in terms of infrastructure, Nirobi is way more developed than Yaounde.
Hey Dave, I offer tour around Yaounde, and neighboring regions. Send me a mail when next you visit Cameroon 🇨🇲
Awesome
the trip must have costed $200
The full trip? Or that day? Because that day coasted much less than that. Street food is fairly affordable.
Hi @@DaveMani how much would a day tour similar to yours cost?
I really like you guys. Take good care of yourselves.
Thanks a lot :)
