    nice build. but i see i has the horrible revell tires.I had waited on the release of the car hauler by revell but then i noticed it had the same terrible tires. I just wont buy another revell kit of any kind.. Amt or monogram 1/16 trucks are far superior to me. its a shame revell chooses to shave a few cents on such things as tires.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 7 lety +2

      Danny - Good observation, and while that is one way to look at it - Revell is still putting out new tooling kits where AMT seems to have chosen to concentrate on re-pops. Both have their place in the industry and there is always the aftermarket tire that can correct some of those problems. -Doug

    I am in process of building the sister kit W-900 Aerodyne, kit number 1507. To me it's just a glorified snap kit, not much detail and the wheel and tire assemblies are pretty lame. This wrecker kit is much better but my favorites are the Revell Germany ones.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 6 lety

      CS - You're right and generally speaking the Revell of Germany kits are more detailed. But you would expect that for the price! -Doug

    Hello, I am going to be building the new release of this was wondering about the section where you used "white" glue for the windows. is this just normal Elmer's? Thanks

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 7 lety

      J - White glue is any of the "Elmer's" type glues. You can also use clear cement for windows predicts like the Testors item. -Doug

    • @Jewels99687
      @Jewels99687 Před 7 lety +1

      Hey thanks, I live in a very rural town in Alaska (300 miles one way to the nearest hobby store) along with the only road in being close for several days every winter due to slides in the pass makes it very hard for me to get "hazardous" modeling glues and paints because many of those things wont go in the mail so I have to plan and wait for my generally once per year trips to town (along with the once yearly dip in the creek hehe) so I am always looking for ways to battle those issues. I lucked out and got this model along with the Revell car hauler, Mobius Lone Star and some basic glue/paint/snippers on my run last fall (was looking for the 53' trailer but it got sold) and then also picked up a T600A Kenworth and '85 Cameroa 1/8th at a local garage sale for 5 bucks (yep 5 dollars). I sold the Camero online for 85 bucks to help support my new habit.Its fun doing this again as I haven't done models for 35-40 years and practicing on some cheaper ones befors I tackle the wrecker and Loan Star.Again thanks. I will try to remember to post my attempts when done.

    Looks good but why do you paint the block of the motor white. I drive a simi and never seen a white block. Yellow, green or black depending on the make of the engine.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 2 lety

      Lee, Thanks for watching but the engine is actually aluminum color. I think the camera flash makes it look white. -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug

    Great build. Too bad this is another hard to find kit. I wish Revell wouldn't discontiune kits so often. The other kit that I can't find is their Kenworth W900 dump truck. Such a nice looking truck kit. Maybe with the new owner they will re-release some their great kits.

    You mentioned the missing sprue so i called the number you show it doesn't work

    Any ideas on how i can get the parts to build this

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 5 lety

      RS, It's sad but Revell USA went bankrupt last year. The new owners have kept the name and assets but not the distribution and parts service the old company had. They may resurrect that in the future for new releases but they probably won't do it for the old ones. On the other hand your kit might have the parts in it. You'll have to check it. In the meantime look for a parts kit online. -Doug

    Any idea why none of the model companies have done any of the older iconic trucks like the Mack B series?

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 4 lety +1

      JM, Yes, The original American companies that are familiar with those older US workhorse trucks are only re-issuing previously molded kits because that maximizes their profits. Asian and Eouropean makers have no idea what that is and even if they did the price would come close to $100 a kit which most Americans aren't willing to pay. I’m new again to building models for when I was a kid. I watched most of your video’s on building 1/25 scale trucks and trailers and you always talk out washing the parts before you start building. Can you please explain what this whole process is about.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před rokem

      John, The older styrene kits had a lot of release agents on them to get the parts to come out of the molds. Newer kits are better designed and readily pop out but some small manufacturers still use them so it's best to wash the parts in warm water with a mild detergent using a soft toothbrush to make sure there are no residuals that could react with paint. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
